This is true, but I have yet to figure out the concern people have with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.  I can't figure out which ingredient specifically they are concerned about.  All the ingredients that make up those vaccines are in and out of our bodies on a daily basis.  If you can bring it up with your friends, I'd be interested in their response to that question.
Dr. Robert Malone (inventor of mRNA vaccine technology), warns that the spike protein is toxic; it doesn't stay localized in the cells that take the injection, but instead travel around the body and freely in the bloodstream.

Inventor of mRNA Technology: Vaccine Causes Lipid Nanoparticles to Accumulate in ‘High Concentrations’ in Ovaries

the public was led to believe by regulators and vaccine developers that the spike protein produced by mRNA COVID vaccines stayed in the shoulder where it was injected and was not biologically active — even though regulators around the world had a copy of the study which showed otherwise.

The biodistribution study obtained by Bridle showed lipid nanoparticles from the vaccine did not stay in the deltoid muscle where they were injected as the vaccine’s developers claimed would happen, but circulated throughout the body and accumulated in large concentrations in organs and tissues, including the spleen, bone marrow, liver, adrenal glands and  — in “quite high concentrations” — in the ovaries.

The mRNA — or messenger RNA — is what tells the body to manufacture the spike protein. The lipid nanoparticles are like the “boxes” the mRNA is shipped in, according to Malone. “If you find lipid nanoparticles in an organ or tissue, that tells you the drug got to that location,” Malone explained.

According to the data in the Japanese study, lipid nanoparticles were found in the whole blood circulating throughout the body within four hours, and then settled in large concentrations in the ovaries, bone marrow and lymph nodes.
Politifact, who once declared the lab leak hypothesis "a pants on fire lie", now claims that those who issue such warnings are making false claims...

Experts told PolitiFact there is no evidence to back his allegation that the spike protein produces a toxin that could cause serious health problems.
Politifact RE: lab leak hypothesis on September 16, 2020

The genetic structure of the novel coronavirus, which has been shared by thousands of scientists worldwide, rules out the possibility that it was manipulated in a lab. Public health authorities have repeatedly said the virus was not created in a lab. Scientists believe the coronavirus originated in bats before jumping to humans. Experts have publicly rebuked Yan’s paper, and it’s unclear whether it was peer reviewed.

The claim is inaccurate and ridiculous. We rate it Pants on Fire!

Honest question, inventor of mRNA vaccine technology or Politifact, who should I believe?

Dr. Robert Malone cautions against children and young adults being vaccinated, and CDC suspects that those under 30 appear to be more susceptible to heart inflammation after vaccination.

mRNA inventor says young adults shouldn't have to get COVID vaccine

'I don't think the benefits outweigh the risks in that cohort,' said Malone, referring to people in the 18 to 22 age bracket, 'but unfortunately the risk-benefit analysis is not being done.'

'My concern is I know there are risks but we don't have access to the data,' Malone said. 'And so, I am of the opinion that people have the right to decide whether to accept vaccines or not, especially since these are experimental vaccines.'

Malone shared his concerns the same day that an advisory group for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say there is a 'likely link' between rare cases of heart inflammation in adolescents and young adults and the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
The CDC's COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Technical Work Group said Wednesday that there is a 'likely link' between rare heart inflammation and vaccines, especially after the second dose in adults under age 30

Young males were up to seven times more likely to report heart inflammation, known as myocarditis, than young women

Full disclosure:

Dr. Robert Malone has both recovered from Covid AND is fully vaccinated.

Yours truly, has NOT been infected with Covid, but has been fully vaccinated for well over three months with virtually no obvious persistent side effects.

I am NOT an anti-vaxxer, my son has not been vaccinated, my daughter has been vaccinated, and I'm a bit concerned about long-term consequences (mostly for my daughter). Novel and/or broad solutions applied to complex systems often yield unintended consequences in my life experience...

They're people I love that I don't want to see sick or worse.   That's what people do for people they love.  They look out for each other the best they can. In this instance, it's not only in their best interest but of that of the country and the world.

Two years ago a former colleague had cancer.  I was on a short email chain where he updated his progress.  He decided to forgo western medicine because it's all about profit.  Instead he went for "alternative" natural treatment in Mexico.  After all it was "proven" and only a few thousand dollars.  After several emails and three months he was happy to announce he was cancer free.  A month later he was dead.

I stayed out of it. I regret it with every fiber of my being. Life is more than ourselves.
You wouldnt have changed his mind.

I’ve always been in favor of this sort of libertarian position. Despite @BladeRunnerinsisting I’m a leftist, individual freedom has al always been my fallback position.
But this worldwide pandemic has caused me to wonder about it. If millions of people around the world either refuse to get vaccinated (or in some cases are unable to obtain it) then some of them are going to get sick and die. That’s not an acceptable outcome in the name of free will.
Everything isn't always political.  It isnt libertarian, it isn't left it isn't right. It's simply stay out of other peoples lives.  That's all.

That’s a fair criticism, but the concerns seem a little fishy. Lipid nanoparticles have been around for years, and have a track record establishing their safety. And it’s hard to reconcile why vaccine nanoparticles would preferentially accumulate in the ovaries, or any organ not involved in the immune response, close to the shoulder or not. Most importantly, it doesn’t make sense that studies of vaccine distribution throughout the body would be censored.

If there’s any fire underlying this smoke, new vaccine distribution studies should be undertaken. I know menstrual irregularities and fertility are already being looked at, as is potential for promoting birth defects.

Sorry Joe, none of the options align with me personally.....no vote.

Not vaccinated, will absolutely get vaccinated. Several unexpected life hurdles have prevented me from doing so yet. Contacted COVID awhile back, catching it from my wife who worked in a restaurant that was lax in their Covid protocols. Couple weeks of not too serious symptoms, lab confirmation, then quarantine. Only lingering side affect is a loss of smell which has not and may not ever return.

On the plus side, I can't smell my or anyone else's farts.

On the downside I can't smell the sweet & pungent trees I'm so fond of smoking.

Thanks. That's the kind of thing my friends say they're concerned about. How one day it's a "ridiculous lie" the virus came from a lab and then later it's "Whoops. It came from a lab." from the same trusted sources.

It's not remotely as simple as looking at an ingredient list like it's a multivitamin or something.

You don't need to listen to either one of them.  You can read the studies for yourself and that's what I recommend we do.  Here's the study that was used to start the rumor.  It's also believed that the ground level noise about this "poison" was introduced via study on rats/mice REALLY early on before human beings were even part of the equation.  If you don't want to go through all that to read, then I think the better question for you is "which of the co-founders should you believe?  One says completely fine and the data is misrepresented (and outlines how) and the other says it's toxic to the body and has yet to provide a study validating his claim.

Reuters has a really good high level article with how the rumor got started if that's more your speed.

Thanks for this info. I still don’t understand how Dr. Malone interpreted the available data to suggest spike protein accumulates in organs outside the immune system - seems like a crazy conclusion from an otherwise reputable guy.

This is unrelated to vaccine efficacy. A lot of things are getting conflated.

So it sounds like they are caught up in the wash of our MSM and a lot of the noise from early on in the process.  The people arguing these kinds of things are NOT the scientists working on the vaccines or doing the analysis on the vaccines.  The source stuff is 99% political.  Scientists are saying we will likely never KNOW it's origins and have been saying that from the beginning.  It's not that we can't know, but the lack of cooperation from China on this is intentional.

Give your friends this study and ask them to read it.  You can point them to this article if the "poison" rumor is a concern to them.

Absolutely. It’s super frustrating people are losing sight of the big picture - the vaccines work amazingly well, and breakthrough infections + serious adverse effects are extremely uncommon.

We only know about a lot of this stuff because SARS-CoV-2 tests are ubiquitous, and 3 billion doses of covid vaccines have been administered. There is no precedent for the amount of data collected on these vaccines, and its instant availability through a highly politicized internet.

I’m vaccinated with no regrets. I was skeptical in the development process because I viewed it as rushed based on previous vaccine timelines and being used as a reason not to take COVID (i.e. I’m not going to wear a mask because the vaccine is almost ready). But as I did more research into how it was developed so quickly, how effective it was and why it was so effective, my skepticism was gone. I had a needle in my arm within 15 minutes of being able to sign up for an appointment.

I’m currently at the end of a trip to South Dakota and Minnesota to see family and go to a wedding. Most of the trip wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for our vaccinations. I have a mask with me but only wore it at times in the Mall of America in the big crowds where we were having our daughters wear their masks. If a place requires masks for those unvaccinated, we had them wear them, otherwise we didn’t.

At one of those places, I had an interesting conversation with my curious almost 6 year old daughter.

Kiddo: Why don’t all the people wear masks? Is the virus gone?

Me: Not completely gone but we’ve got some really good shots that protect us.

Kiddo: Why do I have to wear a mask and other people don’t?

Me: Because some places require masks and you haven’t gotten your shot yet.

Kiddo: Can I go get the shot so I can be safe?

Me: Not yet, they haven’t tested it enough on your age, so we have to wait until they know it works and is safe for kids.

Kiddo: Ok daddy. (Puts mask back on and goes to play)

I’ll do my own research when the studies for younger kids come out but it will take some major concerns to convince me not to have my daughters vaccinated.

It's sad that it is this way, because that's such a poor baseline for all mistrust. Covid was new. The entire pandemic was unlike anything any of us ever experienced. Nobody really knew anything - I'm convinced that the medical community (et al) did the best they could with what they had to work with. Yet the populace was akin to "we demand answers, and we demand them in daily press conferences". So a segment latched onto "well, they first said no masks, then they said masks, so it's all a lie", and it all became very political, very fast.

I had someone ask me what I thought about the vaccine a few months ago when it first came out. I said it's a shame that in this one case, our medical beliefs typically follow our political leanings. At the minimum, that did make him think about it.

I got the new shingles shot last year. Never questioned its development, the reasons behind it, I didn't go to YouTube to "research"... I just accepted it and got it. I have no idea how long it was in development/etc. It was offered by my doctor, and I trusted it. Why do we do that with almost every medical thing, except this one? Why do some people go to youtube for this one thing, yet accept whatever other treatment medical science has to offer. I know a few hardcore anti-covid-vax people on all kinds of other meds for their blood pressure / heart / liver / whatever, some with a long list of side effects. Why accept those, but not the covid vax? It's bizarre to me.

I'm all for people deciding to vaccinate. Do it if you want to.

I'm healthy, 51 years old, I have been around symptomatic covid positive people. My age group, my health type, my body .... I'm unlikely to get covid and if I did, it'd be a mild version if even that.

I'm exceptionally small % chance to get covid and die, I mean like I'm 99.999 % safe

This is a virus that affected 10% of the US population with impacts to a very high % of elderly and obese and already sick people.

If I personally was afraid of covid virus, or any virus, I'd protect myself with vaccination, isolations etc. I don't think I'd impose everyone else do something because of my fear.

Would I get vaccinated? Maybe. I don't want an mRNA vaccine that's for sure. What would it take for me to be forced to get the shot ? Losing my job probably would do it. Losing a once in a lifetime opportunity or something would.

That specific FAQ is worded clunky -- maybe even somewhat inaccurately -- but the guidance seems in line with 29 CFR § 1904.5(b)(2)(iii):
Thanks.  Digging around other parts of the CFR, I noted a place where "common cold and flu" are treated differently than more serious illnesses.  Also there is a whole separate OSHA set of guidelines on Covid:

https://www.osha.gov/coronavirus/standards#temp_enforcement_guidance

Perhaps something in there, although I don't have time to dig (and I'm not a compliance specialist).

Also I wonder if required testing is treated differently than a voluntary "vaccine drive"?

Regardless, I appreciate your looking into it, as clearly there is some disconnect or flat out mistake.

Also there is a whole separate OSHA set of guidelines on Covid:

https://www.osha.gov/coronavirus/standards#temp_enforcement_guidance
These guidelines cover COVID exposure in the workplace and are unrelated to vaccinations.

Regarding the 29 CFR 1904 section we were discussing yesterday, note that the section is titled "Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illness". Briefly: OSHA is not regarding a COVID vaccination as a "workplace incident".

Not vaccinated and will not consider it..

Wore a mask for a month and tossed it. Absolutely disgusted how this country shut down over a cold that has a 99% survival rate. We owe the businesses that were lost a lot for our decision.

Not Vaccinated but considering it

I was a hard no to the vaccine out of the gate, and will not get an mRNA shot.  I'll get the Novavax shot when it's approved.

I made this decision after talking to my doctor and hearing what Dr. Robert Malone has said.

I'm not vaccinated and no plans to BUT I also acknowledge that there have been many deaths from covid virus

So yes its a 99% survival rate for overall population but 1% is a lot of deaths none the less. As a fellow non-vaccinated you do see those reported 600,000 + deaths right ? Or do you think they're inflated or not real or ?

This times a thousand. See also the breakthrough cases on the New York Yankees.
I don't disagree with this and the idea more testing is connected to more cases.

Interesting how the narrative on this has changed.

Just thought you and others might want to know that the fact-checkers have ties to the facts they are checking,
The guy you mentioned left Reuters in late 2019, early 2020 (prior to the virus even being a thing)

I'm game for studies that support this Malone character.  The one he cited (and that I linked in that post) doesn't.  It doesn't really matter if Reuters cites it or Gateway Pundit cites it...the study is the study.  That's why I said to READ THE STUDY in my comments.  If people are not into that, then they are going to have to rely on others, but I don't see a the problem with this guy's job history that you do.  Just trying to understand why it matters.  This guy was NOT one of the fact checkers.  He was a CEO and during a time before the virus was even a thing.

There isn't a good answer, other than "other vaccines took a lot longer to develop." Not only is there zero precedent for chronic adverse events from vaccines, the mRNA active ingredient of Pfizer/Moderna is quickly digested by our cells, so there's little biologic plausibility for long term AEs.

Potential for autoimmunity is the only thing I can think of, but that's quite a stretch when compared to the real risks posed by SARS-CoV-2.
You gotta stop speaking (writing) like an egghead doctor if you want people to actually listen.

Once again battling insomnia very early this morning when my mind drifted to many years ago when I was a young man and designed advertisements for a mom and pop company.  Back then everything was cut and pasted out of black and white catalogs bigger than phonebooks then duplicated on a Xerox machine.

Anyhow, it probably won't surprise anyone to learn that the word "sex" is the number one attention grabber.  Not far behind is "secret".   Both of these words, concepts, trigger something primal in most humans.   Sex is easy, to understand. Secret more complicated.   We have this deep desire for knowledge that others don't. Perhaps it is an evolutionary advantage to gain resources and of course, sex.  A secret is even more powerful when it reinforces a concept or belief we were already suspicious of.

Let's take politics out of it.  Say you hate broccoli. Your mother was always forcing you to eat it as a child.  Then there have been no shortage of doctors and dieticians who have been promoting the benefits of broccoli.  Then one day, an "expert", decides to share a secret that they discovered.  A remarkable secret, something "they" don't want you to know about. Broccoli is bad for you. So bad it will give you potential lethal health problems.  Because you are already predisposed to hating broccoli, you are more than welcome this news.  Sure it's only one person you never heard of or know little about but you knew it. You're an intelligent person and just knew it.

Now, swap out broccoli with the vaccine, election results or any number of revelations we were promised "in a couple of weeks" over the last 5+ years.

I don't think anyone has been conditioned to fearing vaccines - almost everyone born in the USA has had a plethora of them, right ?  Elections too haven't been terribly feared for authenticity and accuracy before - 2000 and Gore/Bush but other than that this election was the exception really.

mRNA is new, never before used on humans

the Fed Govt is pushing this very very hard - the same Fed Govt that bypassed normal ways for vaccines to be approves

that bothers me - especially when I'm a healthy middle aged man with literally a very very small % chance of getting this virus

I can't help but ask why ?

We could have freaked out over H1N1 .... it affected 65 million known cases/people, probably double that had we counted everyone asymptomatic or probable. Had we counted deaths similarly, I bet the death toll would have been in the 10's of thousands

Why then was covid different ?   Its questions worth asking and its my body, I think I should really get answers first

Oh cripes, I’m expected to sift through polysyllabic tomes from posters like rockaction, and stream-of-consciousness nadsat from wikkidpissah, but I have to dumb it down?

I think the people who want to listen are sharp enough to understand my writing, but whatevs. I’ll try to use less jargon.

Even worse, they're probably taking all sorts of supplements with no quality control standards or safety testing, whose own labels admit they're not intended to treat any medical condition ?!?!?

don't your body already have the anti-bodies from fighting the virus then ?
Honestly SC, I'm not terribly well versed in the verocity of anti-bodies with regards to Covid. I may very well have built up some anti-bodies and a resistance to repeat a infection. If that is in fact true (I'm not sure,) that only addresses a possible repeat infection for myself. I could still be carrying the virus and quite easily pass it on to others who are not immune, not carrying anti-bodies themselves or not vaccinated. Thusly, I could potentially be an unwilling/unknowing participant in continuing to spread the disease further to other humans like yourself who (mistakenly in my opinion) believe that they are unlikely to contract Covid.

It is my belief that it would be immensely selfish of myself to not take the steps (vaccination) to ensure, or do whatever possible, that I'm not spreading Covid to other individuals. I'm not a selfish guy and I do in fact love all humans regardless if they have differing views than my own so I will get the vaccine in an effort to do my part to help stop the spread. Whether we disagree on the actual number of deaths truly caused by Covid or not this virus has had a profound impact on this country and the world at large. I think we can agree on that. (I hope I'm not wrong.)

I am glad that you haven't gotten Covid yet. I hope you reconsider your stance on getting the vaccine. We are close in age as I turn 56 in a few weeks and we are of the age that appears to be more susceptible to contracting it. I did not enjoy my couple of weeks of "only" minor symptons and do not wish that experience on you or anyone else.

Trump was criticized for using the increase n testing to imply that the virus spread wasn’t getting worse when it clearly was.

Nobody that I’m aware of disputed the fact that you find more cases when you do more testing.
And the % positivity, hospitalizations and deaths were all increasing when that statement was made.

I could still be carrying the virus and quite easily pass it on to others who are not immune
did you watch the college world series ?

NC State beat my Arkansas - had a heck of a run going

2 non-vax players tested positive for covid-19 and they held 1/2 the team out vs Vandy and Vandy won ... they further tested, and 4 vaccinated players tested positive too and NC State was forced out of the tourney

read that again - vaccinated players tested positive

I'm believing more and more that vaccinations are pretty good - and I think they peter out quick in some people, in others longer, and that vaccinated people are spreading covid too asymptomatically

So if you're vaccinated you are still doing what you fear .... maybe not to the same degree but still, you must have that fear still, right ?

I'm not all that well versed on specifics, so I can't talk about this much further than this post (and I could be wrong here), but I'm pretty sure vaccine doesn't = immunity the way we think it does. It means that if infected, your body's defense can quickly wrap things up with minimal/no symptoms or damage, and if I remember correctly, you aren't contagious either. So if you're in a group that gets tested a lot (like ballplayers), it won't be all that uncommon to have vaccinated people still test positive.

Sounds like it was the non-vaccinated players who first tested positive and spread it to the others. While I think you can still spread Covid after getting vaccinated, it greatly reduces transmission potential.  The more people that are vaccinated, the more difficult it is for the virus to find someone it’s able to infect. That is why it’s so important to get as many people vaccinated as possible. It’s ridiculous that we aren’t at 80-90% vaccination rate by now for people that are eligible.

I never said nor did I imply that I feared anything. I'd appreciate it if my words were taken at face value as I spent some time choosing those words to express my feelings & thoughts so as not to be misunderstood or for folks to infer something I did not intend. You understand, no? Thank you.

To answer your question: I want to, and will, do my part to help stifle the spread of this terrible disease in my country.....namely and specifically the locale in which I inhabit and have influence in with my personal "footprint." There is no latent fear guiding my thought process here. It is a sincere consideration for my fellow man. I strive to live my life this way every day even though I'm not always successful.

I hope this helps you understand where I'm coming from.
