I don't even know what to call this, but, the way every article is written nowadays annoys me.
They all follow the same formula:
Clickbait headline;
Start the article right in the action that whatever the article is about in the present day. Get right up to explaining the thing, then;
Section break;
Let's back up 15 years and start from the beginning with more backstory than anyone could possibly care about.
Let's back up 30 years ago and go down some rabbit hole about some secondary character that you didn't even know existed and isn't actually relevant to the thing at hand.
Let's relate that to the first backstory and get up to where the first section started.
Let's talk about how everything that's ever happened in the 15 years from the first backstory to the start of the action in the article relates to some bigger thing happening in the world as a whole, like, this one squirrel in Central Park explains the India/Pakistan conflict.
Let's go back to where the person who started this had the idea and follow that rabbit hole a bit.
Maybe the author now has a therapy session where he explains to the reader what it all means to him, then,
Let's resolve the action in the first section in such a way that it's a massive letdown from where it started.
