People who say "long story short" because it never is and it's already too long
I use this one quite a bit because some stories are just that way, where you really need to give the details to really lay out what you are trying to say. In my mind I'm apologizing by saying the long story short words because at the end of the day the story is a really good story. The details are what makes it good. If I just said the last line of the story they would probably get it but that's assuming the person who is listening to me either thinks like me, knows the people involved so they can fill in the gaps themselves, or are of above average intelligence. Usually it's not the 3rd one, and usually not the first one, so sometimes the second one applies. But when it's a really good story, I like to really set the stage for what turns out to be an awesome story. Hope that helps explain why I do it that way.

Stayed with my mother-in-law this weekend. Her Keurig has this super annoying quirk I've never seen on any other Keurigs: I turn it on, it takes its time heating up, then the lights start flashing and I press the desired volume ... at which point it informs me that I need to add water. Couldn't you have mentioned that earlier while I was waiting around for you to heat up?

It needs to be cleaned / de-scaled. At least that's what fixed mine.

Brought this up a while ago. My old keurig used to only tell me it needed water once the lowest volume button couldnt be used.

You know, the useless mini teacup selection.

Now I have one of the newer ones that has the electro sensor instead of the old float system and it just tells me i need water mid cup when it runs out. Which is great because it caused me to draw a sharpie line on my tank and now i just check whenever i go to make a cup and if the level is below that line, i refill it before touching anything.

There is a 3:way stop near me with a traffic light. One direction is the end of road so you can only go left or right.

The other way is normal stopping straight or right/left turn pending direction.

The road is closed on the "normal" part (bridge is out)

So basically the people approaching the end can only make a right turn. The people traveling one direction can only make a left.

Hopefully I described that clearly 😂

Anyway my peeve is they still have that light operating normally. There is only one way to travel yet everyone sits at that stupid light

slow drafts

I understand that they are useful in a group that has a hard time getting together for a draft and I do appreciate not having to rush a pick but having to wait hours and possibly days (the longest I've waited was 3 days) is just irksome and takes most of the fun out of a draft
my dynasty rookie draft has a 24 hour clock.

there are people like you in the league who freak out once it takes more than an hour to make a pick. the rest of us are using that time to try to set up trades and just enjoy the best part of the season.

I don't think "freak out" is the right word. I (and I think some will agree with me) that just waiting HOURS is slightly annoying.

Ah.. I totally miswrote that, sorry. I meant I have people who think the same thing in my league that freak out when the draft goes past an hour per pick. Not you.

We have 24 hours for a reason. On my end, I like to review what's happened and what's available... That's happening when I get home from work. So if you draft at 9am, unless I have time to take at lunch... My pick ain't happening until at least 7pm. Not sorry. League is set up that way so guys across the country with jobs and families can take the time they need.

I will say, the more 1 guy texts me to get me to hurry up, my inclination is definitely not to hurry up.

ours is 24 hours as well
All I ask from our owners is to give the leagues a heads up if they are busy and the pick will take awhile so no one gets upset and are sitting by the computer waiting impatiently

Sitting by their phone impatiently?

My dynasty league has 12 hour windows with no overnight pauses. A lot of owners use close to the 12 hours to decide, explore trades, etc., so the 4 rounds (48 picks) usually take about 10 days to complete

What's funny is, every single person in my league LOVES the draft. Talks about it all year. And then a bunch of them just want to rush through it as fast as humanly possible... Which I never understand. Let's leave some time to work out trades, make moves, scope it out... And just enjoy the moment.

So…..you’re the guy…..

People who are late...constantly. "Traffic was awful, etc"....Leave early to offset any delays.
Saw a great meme once that said, "I'm sorry I was late. Traffic was as bad as it usually is and I wasn't expecting that."

There's also a term for people like that (and for the record, I'm one of them): Time optimists

If I have to see one more of those ******* viral social media posts with a math problem that is entirely built around confusion over PEMDAS, Imma cut a bee-yotch.

Yes, I know that 16-4(2+2) = 0. Do I care, even a little bit? No. Do I care that you've forgotten what you learned in school and think the answer is 48? Is it possible to have negative levels of care about a subject?

It's been said in here before... but if you're walking down a sidewalk, especially in a busy place like a city - stay to the right.

Tourists here in NYC don't seem to understand this and will walk down the middle of the sidewalk, usually in a pair or more, forcing anybody walking towards them to dive out of the way or run into them.

It's a city of 8 million people with more visiting, and yet it works out.. until people do simple things like that that gum up da woiks for everybody else

Had a smaller group manager get promoted. Worked with him for many years. At the mostly informal promotion party / roast, I read my '100 reasons why ________ will be late for his first day on the new job.' Read every single one of them... in front of his new boss.

Day 1: He was late.

Pretty sure there was a thread about this here years ago, but I just happened to look up AC/DC setlist in Detroit last night and they closed the show with “for those about to rock”. Like we’ve been rocking for 2 hours and now we’re all done rocking bros…that should have been your opener
Agreed, it would be like Alice Cooper closing his set with "Hello Hurray".

I don't even know what to call this, but, the way every article is written nowadays annoys me.

They all follow the same formula:

Clickbait headline;

Start the article right in the action that whatever the article is about in the present day. Get right up to explaining the thing, then;

Section break;

Let's back up 15 years and start from the beginning with more backstory than anyone could possibly care about.

Let's back up 30 years ago and go down some rabbit hole about some secondary character that you didn't even know existed and isn't actually relevant to the thing at hand.

Let's relate that to the first backstory and get up to where the first section started.

Let's talk about how everything that's ever happened in the 15 years from the first backstory to the start of the action in the article relates to some bigger thing happening in the world as a whole, like, this one squirrel in Central Park explains the India/Pakistan conflict.

Let's go back to where the person who started this had the idea and follow that rabbit hole a bit.

Maybe the author now has a therapy session where he explains to the reader what it all means to him, then,

Let's resolve the action in the first section in such a way that it's a massive letdown from where it started.

and this holds true for a hallway anywhere.

just in general... be aware and respectful of your surroundings and the people in them.

So I have a hypothesis on this.....

I wonder if most of the people who do this (and drive in the left lane) are from countries where they drive on the opposite side of the road?

Do people in other countries where they drive on thew opposite side of the road also walk on that side?

Yes, people in the UK and other places that drive opposite side as us also walk the same way.

And while I want to always say "shine yer shoes, guvnah" to the people who do this here, I know for a fact they're not from that part of the world. They're just oblivious.

And it's always interesting seeing them react when I won't climb up a building to avoid them and instead bump slightly into them (they're bumping into me, tbf). Horrified at the rudeness of NYers who won't get out of their way because, AY, iM WALKIN' ERE!

That’s my experience, yeah. I noticed it in Japan, I probably annoyed a lot of them to.

Local business ads on tv. I don't care that you think having your kid mumbling through your theme song is cute. Believe it or not, that's not what will inspire me to buy a new roof or air conditioner from you.
Fine if they are professional. But amateur hour at the family business is just irritating. Your kids aren't that cute to anyone else.
I call it "playing cutesy" having children and/or babies selling something only adults would purchase.

Had one local car dealer here that has his little dog sitting on his desk. Basically all you see is the dogs butt hole.

Sounds like a very informative ad.
