Can we discuss pet peeves here? (8 Viewers)

Cyclers.  Traffic sucks in Northern VA/DC, throw in some dip#### that decides he/she needs to go for a bike ride during rush hour.  On the road basically taking a lane away from the road.  There are bike trails ALL OVER THESE ####ING CITIES, RIDE THERE!
I'm an avid cyclist and I agree 100%. Of course I live kinda remote and spend most of my time on a MTB but still, roadies should know better. How fun can rush hour cycling actually be for them unless they get off inconveniencing motorists. And while we're at it, F equestrians too. Lazy, beast fetish/riding, big piles of ungulate poop on the trail is A-OK with me, biting fly attracting, selfish, entitled, multi-use trail Nazi snobs.

Maybe they are using the bike to commute during rush hour.  They pay the same taxes.  Get over yourself.
Doubt it.  There should be a city ordinance against biking during certain hours.  In most cities, there isn’t enough room on the roads let alone shutting down lanes of traffic for one person to bike is stupid.

I look at it simalar to eminent domain, sure you’re a tax paying cyclist but should your half hobby inconvenience hundreds of commuters? #### them.  Bike in the park or take the bus if you don’t drive to work.

Worst are the douchebags that stop 10-20 feet back from the intersection so they were there "first".
I've never seen this. But folks in my current home of record do seem genuinely baffled by the entire four way stop concept. Sometimes it's just amazing to watch the entire thing play out as four befuddled drivers try to figure out what they are supposed to do.

You guys need a roundabout!

Retirees going to lunch at 12:00pm on a weekday...
In the restaurant, it's not just retirees (though a lot of them), but most anyone that wants breakfast between 12 and 1 is a bit of a pet peeve. We always do it, if we can, but it can be hard to pull off during the lunch rush. 25% of our business comes through the door between 12 and 1, selling mostly burgers and dogs to people on a lunch break.

If it's slammed, the waitstaff's job is to talk them out of it. (If we're understaffed, then it's often a hard no).  The assumption is that if you want a full French Toast Breakfast at 12:15 on a Tuesday, you ain't in no hurry. Everybody else probably is. So, if the waitstaff can't properly talk them out of it, then it's the waitstaff that's going to be getting the stink eye from the breakfast customer watching 10 lunch orders go out while they wait. I don't mind it, assuming they've been properly warned, and as an added bonus, one good marathon wait on a lunchtime breakfast order means they likely won't order a full breakfast at 12:15 on a Tuesday again. I'd prefer it means they come back here and order it at a more fitting time, but even if it means they head down to Waffle House next time to pay twice as much, that's fine too (not like WH is firing out lightning quick breakfast platters either, hell, they've got a waiting area just to get a table).

We're happy to do it, and I love taking anyone's money, but a breakfast order at the wrong time can throw the whole restaurant in a loop.

I suggest you never move to Minneapolis.

I'm a law-abiding citizen, you are not.

You can't expect the world to revolve around you, Larry.
You are in the minority here.  A bunch of college kids did a video of what would happen in Atlanta if every one drove the speed limit.  They all got side by side on one of the major interstates and drove exactly the speed limit.  It caused a massive traffic jam and people were going apesh** to get around them.

You have the right to go the speed limit, you do not have the right to impede others who want to travel faster.  Move over to the left and let the rest of us who have some where to be go past you.  It is horribly inconsiderate to waste others time and by driving slow you are wasting the time of other people.

And to add, if its rush hour, you should be going as fast as the person in front of you.  If there is no one in front of you, you should be in the left lane, regardless of your speed.

edit:

Found the video, it is horrible editing but its only 3 minutes.

Just flew last week.  I got crowded out and apparently some guy got my bag thinking it was his.  Made it all the way to the shuttle lot to his vehicle before he realized it wasn't his.  Luckily he brought it back.  Meanwhile I'm still at baggage claim, the belt has stopped, and I'm filling out the paperwork for a lost bag because this chucklehead is too concerned with elbowing up to be the first to get his bag that he doesn't even notice it's not his own.  He had to get them to dig his unclaimed bag out of the bag since the belt had stopped ages ago by then.

My suitcase - medium size, brown, 2 wheels with two red zip ties looped through the handle at the top (easy identifier).

His suitcase - large size, also brown, different brand, 4 wheels, and a blue plastic name tag off the handle.
One of my favorite and under-used descriptors.

Is there a reason you can't legally drive in the non passing lanes? It's safer and more efficient for everybody.

Otherwise, you're being that guy who feels like they have to control other people in the world around them. Don't be that guy- he's a self-involved/important ****.

I am following the rules and if you don't like it you can go around me.

BULL####, you are the one that is speeding to get around me.  Do you not realize this?
Yes everyone know going faster than the speed limit is against the law.  Driving 5-10 over the limit has become a generally accepted part of society.  Being courteous to others used to be generally accepted as well.  Slower traffic keeping to the right is should also be generally accepted.  As noted by others this allows the flow of traffic to be better and reduces the chances of accidents.

I can't tell if you are just trolling or not.

Do you also shake hands with your left hand?  It is generally accepted to shake with your right.

Be courteous, be kind, create less stress and please keep to the right.

Minor one, but, janitorial staff who jam so many paper towels in the dispenser that you have to tear through or pry a bunch to get them to start coming out regularly.

The most popular law follows the Uniform Vehicle Code, which says a car driving below the "normal speed of traffic" should be driven in the right-hand lane. Because it indicates "normal speed" instead of saying "speed limit" a driver going above the speed limit but slower than most traffic is still in the wrong.

grandma candy.

not sure that the candy is the genesis of this phrase - but its what I always think of when hearing that.

Big thread, not sure if mentioned...

You, yeah you!  The old lady fart standing in the middle of the grocery store aisle with the cart sitting next to you so you take up the whol lane, Get you And your cart to the same side so I can pass you inconsiderate boob.  And while your at it, take Billy Bob and his pal George with you as they are standing next to one another chit chatting away while I contemplate chucking soup cans at their heads to get their attention.  Dummies.

We all have somewhere to be!...Big man with a horn !

People who complain incessantly about other peoples' driving and cyclists.

They should have another subform here just for that.

In many states you are supposed to keep right and use the left lane for passing or for making room for merging traffic.    IMO this is the correct and this is the way that I drive

I am with you, my brother.

The irony is not lost upon you, upthread?

People wearing headphones/earbuds while driving.  Should be a federal law to prohibit this.  At least it illegal in some states.

I understand, but you can't assume that they only have it one ear and not both.
Ever try It?  Ear buds in both ears while driving?  You don't miss sirens, honking horns, tires screeching and the like, whether your on a call or listening to a podcast, audio book or whatever.  Maybe if you're hard of hearing to begin with.

Hands-free driving laws kind of pushed this into mainstream.  Those in-cabin Bluetooth systems were duds and didn't offer a practical alternative.

Do new cars not have AUX inputs anymore?  I can't imagine wanted to drive with earbuds over having it come out of the car stereo.

No because it is against the law in Virginia.  Even if it wasn't I wouldn't do it.

Plus there is no way to say that your hearing is not reduced with ear buds in.  You still can hear things, but not as well, which is the problem.
