My family seems to be doing this with car doors. Not so hard. Not sifting through 150 pages of this thread so I don't know if it has been mentioned, but slamming doors annoys the ever living sh*t out of me. Turn the knob and close it normally. People that use force and slam them to close are neanderthals.

Burn it down. Get a final use out of it.Neighbors smoke alarm is chirping. Can hear it when we sit in our backyard. They are out of town for a week.
Yea, I don’t get delivery either. The wife felt like ordering food and dashing it for dinner. She put in the order for several food items and a couple of drinks. The order was accepted by the food establishment, we left a decent tip to entice a dasher to accept the order, and everything was fine. Then one by one the items we ordered were declared unavailable. We tried to select other items. but no changes were allowed. And the restaurant didn't substitute anything either. None of our food items were delivered, so substitutes were included, and only one of the two drinks made it us. It cost us like $30 for us to get ONE DRINK delivered to us. Both Door Dash and the restaurant didn't fight taking off the charges for the items that weren't delivered, but neither one would waive the entire order altogether. Who calls in for dinner and gets a single drink? We still had to worry about dinner! GRRRRRR!!!!!
Why don't you just order take out to go and get yourself? I don't understand this need to have some middle man do a job you can do and apparently, the middle man CAN'T. So weird.
Hope you still did the right thing and tipped 162%, which is the acceptable minimum rate these days.I know I'm lazy but the thought of going out just to pickup food sickens me when delivery is a thing that is available. Especially in Portland traffic/parking. I'd rather order delivery and then ***** and moan when the ******* shows up on a bike a half hour late.
the worst part of the whole thing is when you mention to someone that you're buying a car, and they proceed to tell you how easy the process is if you follow their advice. The process of purchasing a car from a dealership.
Ditto. Since the end of the pandemic I won't do delivery anymore unless I absolutely have to. The cost is way too high for the quality/service. I'll go do the pickup if we're ordering in.have stopped ordering delivery completely the last few years for similar reasons. orders are almost never complete, wait time is 1 hour or more, who knows if it's going to be lukewarm even by the time you get it.
easier to just pickup from the couple pizza places we might order from. double-check the order and if anything isn't right they fix it on the spot, usually with a comp of some sort and i'm home in half the time.
I also do this. I also leave way too early to get it so I can sit at the bar and enjoy a beer while I wait for the food.Ditto. I actually don't order until I even get to the bar.
Sometime last year, I could hear a chirping coming from somewhere nearby, and it was loud enough that I could hear it in my bedroom as I was falling asleep. Lasted a few days and I was going crazy from it, so I finally went out and hunted it down. Turned out an older woman a few houses down couldn't figure out how to turn it off (it was the kind with a built-in battery), so she put it out on her deck where she couldn't hear it anymore.Neighbors smoke alarm is chirping. Can hear it when we sit in our backyard. They are out of town for a week.

Fundraising for your kids fun is quite tacky. If you can't afford to send him to Sweden for a soccer tournament that isn't anybody else's problem.

There's a lady I went to high school with who does this constantly. She's got 5 kids, and is always blasting out her Venmo ID along with a plea for Susie's band to raise $ go to out of town competition, Dylan's pee-wee team needs football pads, Ryder's scout troop is selling chocolate bars, Becky's trying to go to church camp, etc.Fundraising for your kids fun is quite tacky. I discovered this trick when I called our favorite Mexican place and they were slammed on a Friday night and weren't taking phone orders, but I could come in and place the order. It was a one-time occurrence but I told my wife that they quit taking phone orders permanently on weekends so now every time we get take out from there, I get 20 minutes of quiet time and a couple beers at their bar.
Not sure what thread to put this, but since I'm pretty annoyed I'll do it here.
Took my son to our bank to get a credit card for him so he can start building credit. He could only get a secured credit card, which means they'd hold the limit in a separate account he couldn't touch. OK, make sense. We applied initially for $300. Found out today he was denied because his annual income is too low based only working 4-5 months a year.
How do you get denied for a secured credit card when they would already have the funds? Seems ridiculous.

I ended up just opening a credit card through USAA for me and my oldest son. He is the only one who uses it. 2 years in, he's paid it off in full every month. According to USAA, this helps him build a good credit score just as if he had it on his own without me. He gets credit card offers all the time now. YMMV.
Agreed though, it's stupid trying to open up a small limit credit card for your 18+ year old child.

Can I Add My Child To My Credit Card?
Most credit card issuers allow children under 18 years to be added as authorized users on a credit card and some don’t have any age restrictions whatsoever. Adding your kids as authorized users on your credit cards may seem counterintuitive to the concept of financial independence. But it offers a wwww.forbes.com

How Does Being an Authorized User Help Credit?
If you have little or no credit history, becoming an authorized user gives you a jump-start. When someone you trust adds you as an authorized user to their credit card, a new account will appear on your credit report.
Additionally, all the characteristics of the original account will have an impact on your credit scores. You'll most benefit from joining an account that has been open a long time, has spotless payment history and has a low credit utilization rate, meaning a small percentage of the total available credit is being used.

Both my grandfathers and my dad served in the US Military. I joined USAA in 2005 through their service. It's fantastic. From auto insurance to CD rates to banking, they are best in breed. I've got my older boys set up with them and will do the same for my other kids. But you have to show proof of Military service to join.

Is that the military bank? Are you saying you opened a joint account with him?
Both my grandfathers and my dad served in the US Military. I joined USAA in 2005 through their service. It's fantastic. From auto insurance to CD rates to banking, they are best in breed. I've got my older boys set up with them and will do the same for my other kids. But you have to show proof of Military service to join.
Have you guys not seen the Gronk USAA commercials? They only run during every NFL game.....
Better than an emu, or a gecko I’d assumeis that right? both my dad and FIL were military men. we're shopping for new insurance. don't think i ever considered USAA. guess we'll look at that one, too.I didn't think it's been that way for quite a while. If that's what it says, they must have changed it back.Website says otherwise...... Have to be some sort of former active or familyAnyone can join USAA now. Don't have to be military. Not sure what thread to put this, but since I'm pretty annoyed I'll do it here.

Yup. Call them and asked what they need to see from you. Exceptional customer service. You'll get a human almost right away.
Huh. Wife and I have been members since we were married. Both our fathers served. But I swear once upon a time I had heard that they were letting anyone join. Interesting. I’ve been a member for years and all I did was open up savings accounts. However, one of the historic challenges of establishing USAA membership has always been the requirement to purchase some sort of a property insurance policy to lock in membership. That changed in November. Rather than having to buy an auto, renters, homeowners or Valuable Personal Property policy, now you can just call USAA or visit us online to establish eligibility and receive a member number, and at that point you’ve unlocked membership for your children and potentially for generations to come.

These are almost never done properly, oddly a fact you already acknowledge.Fundraising for your kids fun is quite tacky. If you can't afford to send him to Sweden for a soccer tournament that isn't anybody else's problem.
Disagree here. I get it is annoying (i.e. the door to door candy sales people), and the bigger issue for me is how do you/I know those funds are going to be used appropriately and it isn't a scam. Some people are hard off financially and doing the best they can. So I sympathize for those using fundraisers properly (i.e. at a school or known reputable charity/org).
"Disagree here" must be the way young'ns agree with us old folks. I guess I need to get one if those translator things.Lmao who pissed in your wheaties grandpa? I actually agreed it is annoying, I was saying why I think it is annoying, not speaking generally.
And not once did I say you weren't allowed to air you annoyances, I was merely sidebarring off your comment. Chill out man.
