RT's can be found later, we aren't in a position to pay for a premium one. If we take him our 3 best offensive players never touch the ball except for one right before the snap. That won't help us be any more watchable this year. And I want Blackmon more than Rich. Even though I like Rich more. The difference between those 2 are off set by the difference between Doug Martin and the land mine WR's after the top 3 and I'm believing more and more that none of them fall. All that said I just hope Minny does pass on Kalil so we can offer him up in a trade and get Michael Floyd + extra picks.haha. I see what you're saying... We need offense, without question. But Kalil... oof... He's once in a blue moon type of a guy. In this scenario, Id be happy with whomever we take.but Im with ya on wanting Richardson, for no other reason than we were lame in the free agent pool.If it's Kalil or Rich and we go Kalil I'll be doing a lot of this![]()
I agree and I'm leaning Claiborne.Would be shocked if we take him at #4.Has to be Richardson or Claiborne. We had this guy on the team a few years ago, hi BraylonI just listened to the interview. Oof. Here's some character traits that I came away with for Mr. Blackmon:Missed it, I flip to Columbus radio when Hooley comes on. Couldn't really name one coach he met with when he visited.
Seems like the type of player that will quit when things are bad. Or he could have been intentionally behaving this way because he doesn't want to play here.
Hooley: "Do you want to be a Cleveland Brown?"

The more I think about it, the more I think we hold off on the RT until Round 3 where we grab Mitchell Schwartz, if he's gone, Zebrie Sanders.Heckert is always bloodthirsty for CBs, so I think we'll go RB, CB, WR with 4, 22, and 37.I'm in favor of this scenario.Add a WR1, get Martin, then go after a RT and have an extra pick(s) from moving down.RT's can be found later, we aren't in a position to pay for a premium one. Peter King, meet Heckert's sack.Browns GM Tom Heckert disputes a report from SI's Peter King that he "loves" Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon.
King's report stated that Blackmon "would be his pick" at No. 4 if Heckert wasn't overruled by president Mike Holmgren. "I haven't spoken to Peter King in years so I have no idea where that came from," Heckert said. "Everything you have heard is complete nonsense. It's just this time of year and I understand that." Look for the Browns to select Alabama RB Trent Richardson. Assured Heckert, "Everybody is on the same page here with who we are considering."
Kalil is good, but he isn't a once in a blue moon type. If you're going to pick a tackle that high, you want it all. You need strength, size, arm length, quickness off the snap, and a highlight reel. You need the ability to excel at both tackle spots. Kalil is lacking strength.'rizzler said:haha. I see what you're saying... We need offense, without question. But Kalil... oof... Any chance Glenn is plug and play at guard and then develops into a tackle? It seems like some teams are talking about him as a guard and some are talking about him as a project OT. Yes, I can see that. It's not the optimal situation for the Browns, but if they decide they satisfied with Oniel Cousins at RT and making the two guard spots a competition between Lauvao, Pinkston, and Glenn, I can see it with Glenn beating out one of them and grabbing a couple of starts at RT along the way.Any chance Glenn is plug and play at guard and then develops into a tackle? I have no idea the reputation of draftek.com, but here is their take on Glenn:Glenn does not project well as a tackle, he's a guard.
Sounds to me at worst like a fill-in LT, average to above average RT, above average guard prospect.Nothing wrong with that if we find ourselves with a mid-second rounder. I suppose I'd be okay with it if he was our #37.Cordy Glenn has started 36 games at left guard, right guard and left tackle, but tops that versatility with surprising athleticism for a man his size. However, at his size, he may struggle with the speed rushers of the NFL and may project better as a right tackle or guard. As a pass-blocker, Glenn is smooth out of his stance and waits for the defender to come to him. He easily controls his college opponents with his long arms and exhibits good balance and lateral agility to mirror the defender. Opponents can rarely get past him and has an excellent anchor so bull rushes are futile. Glenn can get a bit lazy with his hand placement, making him vulnerable to swim moves. Glenn utilizes his size and strength as a drive blocker in the running game, as long as he stays with his fundamentals and not play too high or being late off the snap. Although he can miss with his initial punch and fail to push back his target, more often then not, he shows good hand placement and the leg drive to clear a hole. Glenn gets to the second level with good quickness, demonstrating ability to adjust his path to locate and attack his target. Exhibits quickness and fluidity when pulling from left guard to lead on the toss and counter. Compares to (Current NFL Player): Mike Iupati Strengths- Great utilization of size/mass and long arms- Powerful run blocker, gets to the second level well- Versatile player, having played both guard and tackle- Good footwork for a man his size, as he has played left tackle in college Weaknesses- Struggles with speed rushers, may be relegated to ROT or OG at next level - Can get lazy with technique, as he overpowers college competition - Needs to improve hand placement after initial punch - Inconsistent on initial drive off the ball (quickness)
I agree with you. If we needed a guard (we probably can use an upgrade but it's not urgent) he would be a nice choice. I have been looking at some mock drafts and Cordy Glenn is going as high as 10 to the Bills to be LT. Some have him going 10-20. I just don't see it. 2nd round, yeah, but top 10? Nope. But I guess that's why I buy textiles for a living rather than evaluate NFL talent. Those weaknesses above are why he can't play tackle. He's a monster of a human being, but when you add up his poor first step, slow lateral movement, and lazy technique he is going to get killed playing outside in the pros. He could probably transition to guard, but that's just a nice way of saying he's not a good tackle.I think similar caliber talents will be available later.
Really interesting feedback, thanks guys.Good luck in your draft. I'm pretty sure you guys are headed down the right path with Richardson. A playmaker and an identity for your team is the combo Cleveland needs IMO.Those weaknesses above are why he can't play tackle. He's a monster of a human being, but when you add up his poor first step, slow lateral movement, and lazy technique he is going to get killed playing outside in the pros. He could probably transition to guard, but that's just a nice way of saying he's not a good tackle.I think similar caliber talents will be available later.
Someone will take him in the 1st round. It should be late 1st round. Those weaknesses above are why he can't play tackle. This is why I think we're not looking at the offensive line until the mid rounds unless an obvious value falls. Let Lauvao, Pinkston, and another mid round pick battle for LG and RT. Use the early picks on other positions.Lauvao and Pinkston will hopefully continue to improve as they gain more experience and strength. That said, if the value is right and he's the BPA, drafting a high level Guard with the 22nd pick wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Sure, they need a RT, but they also need depth on the O-line and nothing wrong with upgrading talent at a position.
Based on this pre draft smoke screen? I think it presents an excellent buying opportunity.Looks like Kendall Wright with the 22nd pick is out the door.
Mike Adams has proven to be mediocre, lazy, and an idiot time and time again. If a team drafts this guy before the 3rd round, then they get what they deserve. Personally, I wouldn't touch him before the 6th round.

I didn't explain myself clearly with the "marriage material" comment, but my point is that I'm not sure Heckert and company will be fooling around with talented guys with "issues" this year. I tend to think that Heckert will go after guys who want to play and can play. To quote Hank Williams Jr., "The Pressure Is On."'NJDawgPound said:Kind of like the reverse situation as Alshon Jeffrey. If the Browns take Kalil...Thomas might be a better RT than Kalil. Then you guys take a WR/RB 22/2nd round and take Matt Barkley in 2013IF Kalil is available, I don't see the Browns trading down, instead they'll take him.
And ya, I know we have Joe at LT. But I guess unlike some ppl, I think Kalil could still be top cheese at RT.
Maybe the Browns do as well? We'll know on Thursday.
I still think the Vikes take Kalil... Passing on him would just be... plain dumb.
In which case, we go for the guy we wanted all along... TRICH.
We only have one 2nd rounder. My dream day:
1.Trade the 4 to Pukesburg for Wallace
2.Trade the 22 and a 3rd and next years first to TB for the 5 and grab Richardson
3.Trade one of our 2nd's to NE for Mallett
4.Use the other 2nd for a RT
5.Profit?

:mindf###:It would be talked about for years. 1) I wish we could have signed Wallace for the #22, but the rules didn't allow it. The thing is they could have already signed Wallace and gave up the #4 all along and didn't.2) Sure, why not. Richardson and Wallace give this team instant weapons.3) We only have one #2, the 37th pick. We'd have to use that for Mallett. I would.4) We'll have the 4th pick of the 3rd round to grab our RT. Probably Mitchell Schwartz, the kid from Illinois, or maybe even Bobbie Massie if he slips. Here's where I wish they would have opened the pocketbook and signed Eric Winston.Heckert is creative, but this is blockbuster. Ballsy. I love it. Agreed. As much as I think it'd be best for us to move around and find a way to get both Michael Floyd and Doug Martin while also having additional top 100 picks to find a RT, CB, and better depth up front it's probably best to just take Rich and establish an identity around him. I know he carries a ton of baggage, but if we get a nice assortment of RB, WR, and RT in our first three picks, I would LOVE to see them package the third and maybe a fourth to get back into the mid-late second round to grab Janoris Jenkins.
