It's not baseless that a team who needs a QB that is picking #2 would be interested in trading up to #1. 

Unless of course you are biting on the silly narrative that teams ranks guys "the same", which is absurd.  

No, would they trade up to #1 for DArnold??  THAT is baseless speculation cause nobody knows who anybody wants.

Its absolutely 100% baseless dude.  What Canty is doing is just pure speculation.  No insight just guessing.  The Giants are not moving up, nor will they even dream about it.  Its stupid.  Its just basically just them killing time on a radio show by making something up and discussing it.

Bill burr is absolutely the best at making fun of that show.

two separate points.  Yes, they are idiots

Next point, if the Giants favor a QB, why wouldnt they entertain trading up a spot?  Would be silly not to entertain it.  They dont know who the Browns are taking

1. The browns are not trading out of that spot.  Period.  End of story.

2. DG values draft picks and is not going to give the browns a kings ransom

3. They have Eli

On multiple levels this is why its stupid.  In fact calling it stupid gives it too much credit.   I could go and on about why its not even rooted in reality but the argument/debate (or whatever you want to call it) should simply end with The Browns are not trading the #1 pick.   Thats just lunacy to even suggest.

Rizzo used to be decent, used to care about sports and put some time & effort into it.  At this point, he has jumped the fence & joined goldhammer in the "fill the airwaves, it's just entertainment" class.  I guess it's good for the listeners who are also like that.

Wow Schefty saying on NFL Live that Giants love Darnold and that the Browns and Giants could flop picks for a 2nd rounder. That Browns have Darnold, Allen and Rosen all fairly close

Schefty said he think Darnold is going #1 either to Browns or Giants

Can anyone confirm either of the statements above?  I'm not allowed to watch NFL Network while in the office.   :(

So our discussion has started to dry up, Chris Canty dropped this on Golic & Wingo this morning, don't rule out the Giants trying to move up to 1 to grab Darnold.

I caught the clip of Schefter and I can't remember exactly what he said but he mentioned that the Giants could offer their 2nd or 1st next year to the Browns for Darnold and that the Browns could take it if they had Rosen or any of the other QBs ranked close together.

Their were two other guys on the panel and one of them busted out laughing and said something like 'You wouldn't say that unless you hear something.' and Schefter just smiled and bit his tongue.  

Giants boards also picked this up and speculate it is to smoke Buffalo out to trade up to the 2nd pick.

I've been trying for awhile now to get people to rank the QBs.  That unfulfilled quest was to be followed by a numerical rating & discussion about the factors that go into said rating & the weights given to each.  Seems to me that each has his flaws & virtues, and they could offset in a way that yields a comparable score.  I find it funny that we allow for categories that immediately disqualify them despite the fact that they will all go top ten.

The general consensus of ranking them is totally irrelevant.  What matter is how a specific GM feels about them.  Even if all the GMs rank them differently, it doesnt matter, each individual GM is going to have a preference.  

 
As a fan, I would be happy if the Browns traded pick 1 for pick 2 and the Giant's future 1st, then draft Rosen or whoever at 2.  I think it's great value cause the Giants probably suck again next year and get us a top 10 pick.  However, that is only because I really have no idea how I rank the QBs myself.  Unfortunately I do not have the luxury of interviewing them and taking 150 hours for each guy to break down game tape to figure what they did well and didnt do well and what is correctable and what isnt.  

Now, since I am pretty convinced that our front office is 99.99999% likely to favor one of the QBs over all the rest, I would like for them to trust their own expertise and just pick the QB they want.

Yep.

Here is the clip in its entirety.  Their is a lot more here than the soundbite.

All four of the people, Schefter, Louis Riddick, the other guy and host Suzie Kolber all said things to the effect that the Giants are not done moving around.  That Sam Darnold mentioned he had  dinner with the Browns AND THE GIANTS and he did emphasize his dinner with the Giants.

I don't see how it's that far fetched that the Browns don't have Darnold rated #1 after they are done putting the work in on these guys.

I also continue to think that while most people here don't like or want Allen, alot of NFL teams do, and some will have him QB1.  When does the pro day start?

 
Dorsey may have taken a break on FA for the QB Pro Day Tour, but MKC is stating that there is still interest in EJ Gaines.  He was in CLE yesterday and stayed over today.  Possible deal done today?  He would be a nice addition to this new crop of DBs.

Still looking for that WR, which is looking like it may be Hurns.  Duke has been on Twitter reaching out to him recently.  Could be an interesting pickup, now that Pryor, Wallace, and others have been signed away.

I just switched over to them and it's a nice change. Most of the time I have it on in the background not paying a lot of attention but still at least they talk sports the whole time. The only time ESPN Cleveland talks sports is to throw current players under the bus.

Difficult to imagine pick 4 is anything but Chubb or trade down. 

Don't want it to happen, but I wonder what the move will be if Chubb goes in front of us and the trade market is cold.

 
Browns going to throw off this whole draft when they take Barkley at 1, Chubb at 4, and Mason Rudolph in Rd 2. 

Not sure why they'd take a QB in Rd 1.  None of those guys has separated themselves.  With the exception of Lamar Jackson's unique skill set that may not be NFL ready, there are 6 QBs that might as well be the same person.

They're acting like they hyped Goff hard out of college. 

Neither goff nor wentz got much praise, at all. 

I definitely liked Goff, myself. Wentz far exceeded my expectations

Haha.  If you've been reading my evaluation of players I said the the Browns should have selected Khalil Mack instead of trading down, I said they should not have selected Manziel, I said they should have taken Carson Wentz.  Its just the Browns luck that, the ONE time they select the player I say they should take, its the wrong one.

3/4 of my calls were correct.  Just to focus on the one that was wrong isn't the way to evaluate me.

Right now, they need to select Mayfield and not take Darnold.

He’s actually a former player for the Ravens and Giants and generally offers good insight - but something like that is him just guessing and throwing something out there and should be given no credence whatsoever.

i can’t recall the last time i liked a QB the Browns took.

Kizer was horribly mismanaged by the Browns as well.  Its not out of the realm of possibility that once he is in a positive environment like Green Bay he turns his career around.  Late bloomers happen such as with Alex Smith and Rich Gannon.

 
Its not impossible that Green Bay fixes Kizer and 5 years from now, Kizer is a star QB somewhere and Sam Darnold is a total bust with the Browns.

"My beef isn't with the L.A. QBs, but rather with the notion that Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and Wyoming's Josh Allen are possible top-five or top-10 picks. Look, I understand the desire to grab a franchise quarterback, but a team vaulting up to the top of the board for a developmental prospect is bypassing the chance to nab an instant-impact player at another position. And that's no way to draft."
