Coach of the Year (1 Viewer)

Gotta be BB right?

The job he did coaching up that young D# from game 1 - game 16 is remarkable. They got better and better as the season went on. Their T/O differental is staggering (another NFL record I THINK). The move to ship Moss out at just the right time, the move to trade Slo-Mo out of town and give the rock to BJGE.

This should have been a rebuilding year for NE... Not a 14-2 team vs. arguably the roughest schedule in the league.

What say the SP?

BB deserves it, but he does not fit the conventional model of someone relatively new to the job who has turned a team around. BB is already one of a handful of coaches to have won the award twice with the same team. Morris and Haley more fit the "type" that the AP votes for.

Mike Tomlin, 12-4 without his #1 QB for 4 weeks, Troy P missing games, Aaron Smith, Heath Miller missing games, patch worked OLine.

Harrison fines as a distraction, rookie starting center, cutting the kicker 1/2 way thru season, losing punter 2/3 thru season. Lots of turmoil, and he was cool as ice.

If Brady misses 4 games are the Pats where they are at right now? Not sure.

If Joe Flacco, Manning or Brees, Vick, Rodgers miss 4 games, are those teams as strong?

Tomlin did a great job, and IMO, teams with around .500 record dont deserve a coach of the year, playoff teams only IMO.

Haley from KC will win.

-went from 3/13 to 10/6

-finished the season with only 7 players that were starting the first week. Winslow, Freeman, Mike Williams, and Donald Penn on O. Rudd, Geno Hayes, and Ronde Barber on D.

-Lost 1st, and both 2nd round picks to IR along Jeff Faine & Davin Joseph. Not to mention Tanard Jackson was suspended early becasue of failing a drug test.

-Bucs easily have one of the lowest payrolls in the league and didn't do anything in free agency.

-The NFL admitted they blew the call that should have put the Bucs in the playoffs.

as a homer I'd like to pimp Haley.... and I think he has a shot....especially if they win this weekend after the turd they laid against OK and he gets this team ready.....just not sure he deserves it over BB....not sure if Haley is coach of the year, but when I here things like L. Fitzgerald would like to come play for him and KC, I like what I see.....Fitz seems to be a pretty solid character guy and if he wouldn't mind reuniting with Haley, I think that goes a long way with how players see him.....he did a nice job this year, but their schedule was pretty cake....

BB or Tomlin.....Morris also consideration........and I also like what is going on in DET

One of Belicheck (sic), Mike Smith, or Raheem Morris should win it. I really hope Haley doesn't win it.

I don't doubt Fitzgerald would want to go play at KC. Though I'd say he'd probably like to play pretty well anywhere else besides Arizona.

Haley should be ahead of Morris. KC makes the playoffs. TB didn't. A single win against one of those good teams and their in. That loss to Det hurts.

Who should win MVP, Tom Brady or Matt Cassel? I mean, Cassel really surprised a lot of people this season.
IMO Brady and it not even close....KC and Cassel have been a nice story but that schedule was about as easy as it gets.....and quite honestly they did not win a game that they normally wouldn't and they lost a couple they shouldn't of....to me that is when I think a team is over the hump, when they win a couple they normally don't (INDY, or at SD, or at DEN, etc) ...but let's be honest...swept by OAK, trounced by DEN....should have lost to BUF at home, but pulled it out of their butts on the last play of overtime.....I like their progress and direction, but really their biggest win was week one at home against SD and they needed the elements and special teams to win that one.....Cassel doesn't carry a team the way Brady does....and Cassel looked terrible yesterday even though much of the blame goes to the o line....

It's not like the Chiefs beat any good teams either. They beat San Diego week 1 on Monday night, and that was the only team they beat all season that finished the year at or above 8-8. Tampa's losses were also not as bad as the Chiefs. The Bucs lost to ATL, PIT, NO, BAL, DET. The Chiefs lost to IND, HOU, OAK, DEN, SD. Haley doesn't deserve more accolades simply because his team had an easier schedule.

Playoffs > No PlayoffsNot saying its right or wrong. Its just how it is.

he wont win and i am not saying he should but mike mccarthy did a good job of getting a team with a ton of injured and good starters on the IR to the playoffs but the sports talk radio guys here in town would probably want to find out where i live and burn my house down for even suggesting he did something good because apparently they think he invented all infectious diseases and was responsible for the destruction of the tree people in Avatar

I think Lovie should be in any discussion, I mean who would have picked the Bears to perform as well as they did, and the offense changed direction when it saw the beating Cutler was taking.

You actually did say it was 'right' when you said "Haley should be ahead of Morris". By saying that, you are implying that a guy is more deserving of offseason accolades just because he had an easy schedule, which is silly imo. And just because that may have been how it was, doesn't mean it should stay like that forever. The MLB rewarded the Cy Young to Felix Hernandez despite being on a crap team, so perhaps the voting media is changing it's ways.

BB has done one hell of a job, made some very bold adjustments, and fielded the most dominate team in the NFL.

Tomlin has overcome as much adversity (as detailed above), if not more, than any other coach in the league and still claimed the #2 seed.

Two man race that boils down to what the indivudual voter values more.

Tomlin would get my vote.

Andy Reid led the Birds to #3 in the NFC with a backup starting at QB all year :lmao:

Seriously though, Morris has to be in consideration.

:lmao: Not to mention, the NFL apologized for a blown call in the Detroit game. There was a bogus PI interference call in the Baltimore game. And anyone who watched either of the Atl games knows the Bucs were once again on the wrong side of bad calls. The only hands down losses for the Bucs were early in the season to Pitt & NO. That's how it goes in the NFL though. :ptts: Next year should be exciting for Bucs fans

Few more points to add for Belichicks case..

-He became the only coach in history to win 14 games in four different seasons. Only one other TEAM (let alone coach) has ever done it (49'ers)

-NE defeated 6 of the 11 playoff teams on their way to 14-2

-Had a 4.5 game wins swing based on preseason vegas odds (tied with the Bucs for best in the league)

Its hard to give it to anyone other than BB but I do think that Haley and Morris both did an amazing job this year and both should be given real consideration.

If Brady misses 4 games are the Pats where they are at right now? Not sure.
If the Steelers played NE's schedule would they be where they are now? The Steelers were 2-4 against eventual playoff teams, their wins were against Atlanta and Baltimore. Their other ten wins were against: 6-10 Tennessee10-6 Tampa Bay5-11 Cleveland (x2)7-9 Miami4-12 Cincy (x2)8-8 Oakland4-12 Buffalo2-14 CarolinaI realize that you can only play who they put in front of you, but that schedule didn't hurt Tomlin's success this year.

:confused:That doesn't warrant a nice try or the fishing emoticon; you know the perceived criteria is totally different.Raheem is in the conversation, but I don't think he deserves it as much. But then again, I think Freeman was fantastic all season, but generated virtually no buzz. It's not like Tampa is a P.R. hotbed.

Bill bellichek . the best coach in the NFL this year and overall.

BB an it isn't close.

Pats aren't that talented other than Brady , the D line and Mayo. The Pat's are the worst 3rd down defense in the NFL -- Their offense other than Brady is a cast off in Branch and Welker who got his stats from Moss doubles , and a never will be in the Law firm.

1) Raheem Morris

2) Bill Belicheck

3) Todd Haley

On a homer note MM, Capers, and TT did a great job weathering the storm.

I was going to say BB or Smith from Atlanta but this sold me.
