***Conference Collision #1 Dallas Cowboys 10-4 at Miami Dolphins 10-4***(-1.5, 51) Christmas Eve - 4:25 (1 Viewer)

Miami made it 10-4 in the year 2000
23 years ago and I will be peppering this thread all week with player updates on the Miami side, would appreciate Cowboys' fans doing similar from your side

I think you are going to find most Miami fans are just happy to be here right now, somewhat new waters for many since we've stunk for so long.

Injury Update: Austin Jackson left the game Sunday, that is Miami's starting Right Tackle just inked on a 3 yr extension, McDaniel was optimistic he will play Xmas Eve.
Miami lost Connor Williams vs the Titans, I met his mother at the Hard Rock Hotel post-Jets, not sure why she was there but she was wearing a t-shirt with his likeness
Weren't going to be many fans with that shirt so I asked her and she admitted she was his mom. I'm sure he would have loved to play this weekend vs his old team.
Miami is also without starting LG-Wynn but it's been like that for a while now.
Robert Hunt-highly rated RG and one of our best OL has missed a game or two of late, hoping he can play this weekend or else we will be down LG-C-RG, hard to run the football with that kind of OL injuries

All 4 top teams in the NFL will face each other this weekend
Dallas, the Niners, Baltimore, and . . . who's the fourth?
Vegas, ESPN, and many rankings have Miami #3 or #4. But, the NYT playoff predictor says SF, BAL, KC, DAL, BUF (6%), MIA (5%), DET (4%), PHI (3%) to reach the SB.

I agree that MIami has not played like a top 4 vs good teams, but with Ramsay and a healthyish oline they have a chance to turn things around against DAL, BAL, and BUF. Those games will be telling.

Bills ran all over the boyz.
McDaniels saw that.
boyz have been less than great on the road but weather should be more to their liking in South Beach.
Fins want/need to show they can beat the big boyz.
boyz looking for a rebound "git right" game.
Battle of the Mc's. McCarthy/McDaniel. Which one do you trust in the fourth quarter?
If Hill is on the field and HEALTHY a big plus for the phins.
One a couple fantasy gold games this weekend.
Tua or Dak makes a play late.
I'll sat Tua...

Fins- 33
boyz- 30

Re-visit this later in the week, Miami could be down all 3 starting IOL and they might have Tackle issues if either Armstead or Jackson cannot go
Miami OL has to be part of the equation when we gauge these

-And I'm not predicting a shootout, I doubt either team hits 28-30, see it more in the low 20s, Miami Defense with a couple hiccups has been a lot better of late
I assume Ramsey will shadow CD Lamb all day? I hope that's the plan for Miami

-Oh and Miami has 3 starting DBs out of 4 injured right now

Cowboys are suspect against power running up the gut as well as misdirection plays that stress the LB corps.

I do think Dallas will be able to generate a pass rush.

Dallas also should be able to move the ball with relative ease.

I don’t have a good feel for this one yet. Leaning toward the Fins right now.

"Dallas also should be able to move the ball with relative ease"

-Levis was an outlier I guess but after his 320 pass yds, you're hard pressed to find Fang's D giving up even 250 yds passing
If we have to sit Howard, Holland and Elliott again this weekend, yeah I think you all might move the football better.
Those are 3 starting DBs outside of Ramsey. If Howard and Holland can go, the Miami secondary will pose problems
I'd also like to mention Kader Kohou, starting slot DB, he's very good.
I think CD Lamb will have Ramsey shadowing him much of the game

Scroll down a little to Team Defense and Go to the end column and hit the "exp" header
I believe Miami will jump to 3rd overall and you can see Dallas is Top 10 as well.
"Expected points contributed by ALL Defense"

I'm going to lean Miami here because they have been so good at home and McDaniel is learning to trust his rushing attack. The equalizer here is Miami's Oline health issues and Dallas being embarraseed by the Bills last week.

You would hope Ramsey shadows Ceedee but with Howard likely playing will fangs do that? Miami should be getting their secondary back for this game and some version of Tyreek, though not likely the full version.

Dallas not having their Center means that the Dolphins D line can go to work.

Both teams have the "beat a good team" narrative and while Miami had their "wake up" game vs. Tenn, Dallas just had theirs vs the Bills. I think the coaching favors mcdaniels and Fangs. Hoping for a Miami win, but this game can go in any direction (I would not bet it).

Phins to left, Phins to the right, Phins up the middle, Phins deep to the Freak. Ramsey to keep CD in check, these are my hopes as in one semi final I have Tua, Hill, and Achane they have Dak, CD and Ferguson

Cowboys on the road are just not impressive. The Dolphins are a top 3 AFC team. How healthy is Tyreek? If he’s 100%, I’m going Miami.

I think we already know he will not be 100%, with that said it is the Freak, he does not need to be 100% to do damage.

Any locals care to chime in on potential concerns with the wind? Im seeing forecasted 17mph with gusts up to 30.

How did Dallas get road games in Buffalo and Miami on back to back weeks..

I think Dallas rights the ship today and wins in a shootout 34-31

Closed stadium. Partially covered. Probably not an issue.
Yeah, I’m interested too in the wind factor as a Cowboys fan and Aubrey owner. Hard Rock Stadium (or whatever it’s called these days) is closed on all sides with a pretty big overhang I think. Looks like a chance of rain, but not much.

As far as the game goes, I don’t have a clue. Tyron is almost certainly out but hopefully Martin will play. If Martin is out, Mia DL may have field day. Dallas has been mediocre on the road. Was up in Buffalo last weekend for game..couldn’t have been a more charged atmosphere. You figure Dallas would come out fired up, and they came out flat, making mistake after mistake.

Yep.

Miami is banged up on the oline too. Cheetah might not be 100%. It could be lower scoring than expected.

Worried about how many players the Dolphins are missing on the Oline.

And who will cover the TE for the Cowboys - Ferguson.

Other than that . . . FINS UP !!!!

Read earlier this week that Dallas runs the second highest percentage of single-high safety in the league. Obviously that is a very different scheme than most try out against the deep speed of Miami. Can the Dolphins OL protect Tua long enough to get those balls off? That is my key question coming in.

Got the chili simmering for the last hour, should be ready by kick off.

Good luck today, hope it's entertaining and I hope Miami prevails. No predictions, just everyone get off the field safe and hopefully the Phins Win!
-Saw a lot of Dallas gear round town today, those Cowboys show up

It still swirls like the old Meadowlands stadium.

I am looking at the goal posts.....it won't be much of a factor.

The atmosphere here is electric today.

Buckle up for what should be a great game
