So, Culpepper = A.J. Feeley?Culpepper to Miami for 2nd rounder
WHITE ELEPHANT ALERT!!!!how is he going to pass the physical?Last i had heard the vikes said no physical allowed. If the phins traded for him right now with nophysical they are dumb. Why take that risk? Also, why not wait and make sure the vikes don't gut him before his bonus is due? Odds are they won't cut him, but for all the phins know his knee could be a wreck.Did Miami have him take a physical? No way I give up a 2nd rounder at this point for Culp if I'm not sure he's coming all the way back. The trade is contingent upon Culpepper passing a physical.
EXACTLY!!The last 'phins front office team gave the same for feely that they now get culpepper forSo, Culpepper = A.J. Feeley?Culpepper to Miami for 2nd rounder
if I was a Viking fan I would be pissed. Moss and Culpepper traded.Does anyone actually believe MIN will go with B Johnson as their starter for '06?
What are you talking about? He said he would prefer Miami if the money was the same. Said all the same things about being part of N.O. resurgence and how it would be great to be down here, and blah blah blah. All players say they would love to be in the cities that are pursuing them. New Orleans simply outbid Miami for his services.Brees doesn't want to play in NO, I think it was the FINS not Brees who balked. It implies that the Dolphins were not willing to pay as much as the Saints. If they thought he had serious issues they would not have offered $8 million in guaranteed money. If this is true the most important thing it implies is the Brees has serious issues. ESPN claims that Brees was willing to take less to come here and yesterday all the talk was that the FINS where seriously leaning towards Brees.![]()
At least it's a high 2nd a deep draft and they will get a good player out of it.I understand the Vikes desire to get rid of Culpepper, but he's arguably one of the premier franchise QBs in the league with incredible physical talent - probably the most sought after asset - and the Vikes just gave him away for a second rounder. As a Vikes fan I'm happy to say we've made some great moves this offseason, but Miami is getting a steal here.
I also don't think Brad Johnson is the best choice right now for us next year. I love the guy, but his arm is incredibly weak. Granted we're going to be a more west coast, run the ball type of team, but we have some deep threats (MRob and Troy). Ideally we go after Brees, but perhaps we'll pursue Aaron Brooks.
Gonna be a completely different Vikes team though. Gonna miss those games where C-Pep just launched deep balls to Moss all day and he made sick catches.
I guess he thinks that NO hasn't heard that Brees had the injury or that they didn't investigate it.NO = Suckers.Brees = New Orleans![]()
I was under the impression that the Dolphins were just using that in their negotiations with Brees.I didn't think they'd actually go through with it.WOW.
As a long time Dolphin homer this news shocked me. It came out of nowhere. There's only been constant speculation about it for a week.
There aren't exactly a ton more options out there right now. And, I can't think of [m]any that would be better than Johnson right now.Does anyone actually believe MIN will go with B Johnson as their starter for '06?
not only that, but they didn't get any playmakers in the trades!Go back two years and the concept of this happening would have been scoffed at, and rightfully so!if I was a Viking fan I would be pissed. Moss and Culpepper traded.Does anyone actually believe MIN will go with B Johnson as their starter for '06?
Yep. :(if I was a Viking fan I would be pissed. Moss and Culpepper traded.Does anyone actually believe MIN will go with B Johnson as their starter for '06?
There may be some truth to this if the reports were that Brees had to respond to Miami by midnight last night, or else. Likely Miami wanted to move on someone before things got crazy. With reports that Culpepper talks were re-ignited with Oakland, Saban probably got tired of waiting on Brees and opted for 'pep.Brees doesn't want to play in NO, I think it was the FINS not Brees who balked. It implies that the Dolphins were not willing to pay as much as the Saints. The sad truth is that neither one of them are worth anything compared to what they had been. You can make the case that if they had held either of them a little longer you'd get nothing. How many teams would give up the 7th overall pick for Moss now? I think it's good to remember that 'value' in football changes too fast. That's why contracts aren't guaranteed. As a fins fan this sucks IMHO, not looking forward to watching the big cry baby throw 2 INTs for every TD and fumble once a game. That is if he can even walk onto the field.135tds

If he gets healthy he's better then any QB you've sniffed since Marino, by a LONG shot. If I were a fins fan I would be ecstatic! You just got the ultimate buy low. The vikes screwed up again by taking their best player, waiting tillhe is injurred durring his worst year ever and decided that was the time to sell. And you guys got the prize. What do the Dolphins have to lose. When players are playing well along side him, Culpepper is a top 5 QB. I'm furious right now the Vikes traded him at his lowest market point. We've now given Moss and Culpepper away for pennies on the dollar.
Obviously not as closely as cstu has anyway.I guess he thinks that NO hasn't heard that Brees had the injury or that they didn't investigate it.NO = Suckers.Brees = New Orleans![]()

That's not the point. You said that it must mean that Brees had "issues", but he pointed out that the Vikings were willing to offer him $8 million in guarantees. Meh. Moss has slowed down a TON due to back and ankle trouble. And Culpepper has shown a terrible lack of leadership qualities this offseason that make it obvious, to me, that he's not Super Bowl material.Yep. :(if I was a Viking fan I would be pissed. Moss and Culpepper traded.Does anyone actually believe MIN will go with B Johnson as their starter for '06?

I understand how and why it happened, but it still stinks for the vikes.
Um,I'd give up a 7th overall for moss! Where can my team sign up.The sad truth is that neither one of them are worth anything compared to what they had been. Perhaps I missed something, but why wouldn't the QB carousel now take Brees up to Eden Prairie? I mean, wouldn't Minny at least TALK to Brees?
Think of where your team was when ricky quit and look at them now. Quite the turn around in potential, outlook, and additude. Saban has done well. AND, if Ricky plays that's a bonus! If he doesn't it won't hurt your chances much. They aren't going to make him hop on a treadmill, it means that the trade is contingent upon a medical examination which would, undoubtedly, include an examination of his injured knee and the progress of his re-hab.how is he going to pass the physical?
I don't know what you are talking about?"Even though the Saints are offering more money, Brees appears to be leaning toward the Dolphins, the Miami Herald is reporting. Brees arrived in South Florida Sunday nignt, and spent most of Monday undergoing a series of tests on his throwing shoulder, which he injured in the season finale. The Dolphins and Brees' agent, Tom Condon, are expected to resume contract negotiations today. "What are you talking about? He said he would prefer Miami if the money was the same. No, I'm not talking about fantasy football rubes. I mean real NFL GM's....that get paid.....and have to do a good job or they cannot pay their mortgages. If your job was on the line you'd give up the 7th overall for an injury prone malcontent? You could work for the Raiders at least.....actually, even they wouldn't give up a 2nd round pick for a terribly broken QB.Um,I'd give up a 7th overall for moss! Not so fast:
Daunte Culpepper finally has his wish.
FOXSports.com has learned the Vikings and Dolphins have agreed on a trade, with Miami sending a second-round pick to the Vikings in exchange for the Pro Bowl quarterback.
The trade is contingent upon Culpepper passing a physical, and takes Miami out of the running for free-agent quarterback Drew Brees who also agreed to terms with the Saints on Tuesday in a six-year deal.
Culpepper was a three-time Pro Bowl selection for Minnesota but played poorly last season before tearing three ligaments in his right knee in a game Oct. 30. He has been at odds with the Vikings over his 10-year, $102 million contract and wants to be traded.
"If a trade does not happen then I am asking the Vikings to terminate my contract as soon as possible," he said in a recent e-mail to media outlets.
Oh my GOD!It will be a bad scene out of Miami Vice with Daunte in South Beach.First we have the Lake Minnetonka incident, let's see what Culpepper does in South Beach during rehabilitation.
No ####. He would've been released next week. A 2nd round pick in the deepest LB draft in years =Thank you Miami!
tons of sex on boats down hereOh my GOD!It will be a bad scene out of Miami Vice with Daunte in South Beach.First we have the Lake Minnetonka incident, let's see what Culpepper does in South Beach during rehabilitation.
Although...Do you think anyone really cares if you have sex on a boat in South Beach? Isn't that the norm?
I'm a Culpepper fan but you can't throw out his TD-INT ratio and not also acknowledge the 81 [yes, 81] fumbles too.
Only if the shoulder is good. Otherwise, heaven forbid, I'd rather go with Johnson this year. Or trade for Schaub, if possible. Can't you just hear the howls? They take the 2nd that they get for Culpepper, use it to get Schaub, and then we have to hear the squeals of pain from Patrick Reusse and Chad Barriero of "So we essentially traded Culpepper for Schaub? Who's running that club anyway, Kevin McHale?"I'd personally hope that this means MN will go after Brees instead.
Even deeper at o-line.1st round linebacker. 2nd round o-line and perhaps a pass catching TE.No ####. He would've been released next week. A 2nd round pick in the deepest LB draft in years =Thank you Miami!![]()
There is no such thing as "passing" or "failing" a physical. That's just not how it works. If MIA wants to play hardball, just start the rumor through Mortensen or Clayton that Culpepper "failed" their physical. Then, go back to MIN and say, "how about a 3rd or 4th rounder instead?"how is he going to pass the physical?Last i had heard the vikes said no physical allowed. If the phins traded for him right now with nophysical they are dumb. Why take that risk? Also, why not wait and make sure the vikes don't gut him before his bonus is due? So, you think teams would rather have Troy williamson than Moss? And way to go bringing in Krob this year to keep with the people that don't have off field issues. No, I'm not talking about fantasy football rubes. Do you even realize how long 3 years is in the NFL? And what does Troy Williamson have to do with it? What a team does with the 7th overall means nothing. Having it in the 1st place means everything. Just because the Vikes swung and missed with Williamson last year doesn't mean you'd just give it away for Moss now. Moss is not the player he used to be and people are having a heck of a time coming to terms with that. So, you think teams would rather have Troy williamson than Moss? I think moss is an ###, and I understand why they shipped him out. But the fact is in 3 years ago the vikes had what was considered a top2 QB and a top 2 WR and now they have dealt both of them for pennies. And neither of them is even 30 years old. This is the first time that I can recall a team building it's identiity around 2 young stars and then withint 2 years shippping them both away and having no stars at all left with the team.
When you stop and think of where the vikes were in 2004 and where they are now it is mind boggling.
This is going to be highjack if we are not careful, but Randy Moss was the greatest offensive weapon to ever play the game, I loved him in Minnesota but I thought his career was about done when Minnesota shipped him out. Last year was no aberration, the guy is not as fast as he once was and his back, foot and hamstring problems never went away in his early\mid 20s, so I don't think they will start going away now.Minnesota got good value for Moss and unless Moss plays a full 16 game season in the future for Oakland, Minnesota might possibly get the better of the deal when all is said and done. So, you think teams would rather have Troy williamson than Moss?
And way to go bringing in Krob this year to keep with the people that don't have off field issues.
