Desert Island Album Draft - 15th Anniversary Edition - 50 Rounds in the books, sign up now for KP's listening program (1 Viewer)

The stuff I've heard from Skinner recently hasn't been good.  I suppose it's better than the DOT but that was just dismal.
His first two ,I loved. Then there were one of two after that were completely forgettable. The singles hes dropped here and there over the last couple years have been ok, but not great. Still... Upcoming should be good because- you know where I'm going with this

IDLES collaboration

His Glastonbury set last year was lame.

38.26  The Microphones - The Glow, Pt. 2 (2001)

I've been planning to take this album all along because it is one of my favorites ever and would absolutely want it on a deserted island.   I'm sure I could get it later and I was about to take another album when I read a tweet that Phil Elverum sent today addressing our current national debacle and decided, #### it.  Took it as a sign.

I was in an Influenza-induced, febrile delirium in 2001 the first time I listened to this album and that was perfect.

This is an album best played in it's entirety on headphones but here are two more sure-fire favorites for the playlist:

I Want Wind To Blow

The Glow, Pt. 2
Don't know if it was on anyone else's radar, but had it on my list from the jump. Side A still hits me in the chest. Definitely feel it on the headphones, and those would be my song picks too. Maybe "The Moon". Obvious picks maybe, and the first three in the album, but it really is the strongest part of it for me. Love this pick.

just felt a decent earthquake in the cali desert. no idea where the epi was, but let's hope it was here. 4.5 to 5.0 i would guess.

waiting for the next one... ooof.

Anything good going on in here besides vague Nostradamus like draft selections from wazoo? I was going to watch a movie but I don't think I am in the mood or have the ability to focus now. This country is really testing my last patience.

I've been searching for my computer glasses. Still looking. I had them about 30 minutes ago. I'm using a progressive pair right now that doesn't magnify  on a computer well. I don't wear glasses to watch TV, although it would make the picture sharper. It's close up (farsighted) that I have the biggest issue. My distance is starting to go some now. It was good for so long, because it was stealing from my close up vision. Something like that. I'm going to check a couple more places.

Thanks to @wazoo11 for taking some Britney Spears and not making me feel bad about my 2nd pick now.

I am going to continue on with the pop and more of the "gin mix" side of KP island.  In my old age I have grown to love the first one more and more.  Interesting mix of sounds and ideas that these songs are.  Probably don't have much business going together on the album, but it really works for me.  It has my favorite song of hers, but also has 2 great ballads, a weird jam with Prince that I sometimes forget is on there, and some cheesy pop all mixed together.

38.40:  MADONNA - LIKE A PRAYER (1989)

Songs:  Express Yourself and TBD

Next I will grab my another go-to gin fueled cheesy pop album.

39.01:  KATY PERRY - TEENAGE DREAM (2010)

Songs:  California Gurls and TBD

35.10 - M83 - Saturdays = Youth (2008)

I'm gonna jump the walls and run.
I wonder if they'll miss me.
I won't miss them.
The cemetery is my home,
I want to be a part of it,
Invisible even to the night.
Then I'll read poetry to the stones.
Maybe one day I could be one of them,
Wise and silent.
Waiting for someone to love me.
Waiting for someone to kiss me.
I'm fifteen years old,
And I feel it's already too late to live.
Don't you?

"We Own the Sky" (Live at Sasquatch)

"Graveyard Girl"

39.06 Hey Now Hey, Aretha Franklin (1973)

I close out my popular albums with royalty. This is my favorite of The Queen's albums because, while it doesnt have any of her biggest hits, it gives her a chance to really cut loose on the piano. If you have not heard my favorite Aretha tune, Just Right Tonight, you're in for a treat. It's what the word "church" is meant to describe. And the last popular song i add to the mix will be my "watch the horizon" song on my island - Aretha's astounding arrangement of the Bernstein/Sondheim classic from West Side Story. It is the song America needs to hear right now, for its citizens who really must look past the unmaking of this great land to the horizon of its fading potential. nufced

You try spinning the new Run the Jewels?

Good call, forgot about that. I was listening to Rick Ross Teflon Don. It's 10 years old but some of the issues and songs could have been recorded this weekend.
Like I said - the song I mentioned is obviously written about past stuff, but fits eerily well into the recent incidents.

I love this album and would have been my first pick for them as well but has the "big" one been taken yet?
