Spector ruined a few especially after he ruined himself but his career batting average is still pretty high.a rare instance where Phil Spector did not ruin a record.

Sorry. :( I told simey I thought this wouldn't get back to me because you'd take it in Round 4 or 5. You can come visit Vancouver Island and listen with me.
My mom just made some Nanimo bars this week! I can live without the tea and cucumber sandwiches, though. That's a big ole island too.
With nobody else on the island you'll have to learn to make your own Nanaimo bars and cucumber sandwiches though.
Wasn't on my list 'cause I'm only doing compilations when unavoidable, but wonderful selection, wonderful pick. Byrne is absolutely all about that Tropicalia, and I love it.5.23 Brazil Classics 1: Beleza Tropical - Various Artists
A compilation of Brazilian Tropicalia sounds from 1971-84 featuring Caetano Veloso, Jorge Ben, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento and others. My distain for CDs is well documented on this board but it fostered a great era for compilation albums. This was the debut release on David Byrne's vanity label Luaka Bop. Byrne's love for the music is evident in his liner notes.
My knowledge of Portuguese is limited to hello, goodbye, thank you and how much does this cost so I can't understand a lick of the lyrics here. But seldom has the cliche of music as a universal language been more true than with this collection of songs. The music is gloriously sensual and swings like a mutha while appearing to float effortlessly. There are some gorgeous melodies here with little rhythmic delights at every turn. This is a wonderful record that would make my island with or without my draft gimmick.
Sonho Meu - Maria Bethânia & Gal Costa
Eu Só Quero Um Xodó - Gilberto Gil

No one in the next 10-15 picks is on skip@JZilla - OTC
@Mrs. Rannous On deck
@Mr. Ected Soon
Edit:
Actually, did JZilla put himself on skip? Would be good to update the sheet or OP with those on skip.
Actually think Mrs. R said last night to skip her if she's not in the thread, but I'm probably too lazy to confirm this.No one in the next 10-15 picks is on skip
And since it is Australia, no shortage of things waiting to kill you, in horrific fashion.Island is tough...we used to island hop up and down the Caribbean before the kids (and got married on Anguilla, which is my favorite place and should be my pick). I grew up going on sailing vacations (like renting an RV and cruisimg around, just on boats) and got to see some amazing places...highlight of Tonga...and if uninhabited is a must, I'd have to research one of those we stopped at for a few days to ride out rougher weather...most amazing reef and waterlife I've ever seen.
But saw this pop up recently and I'll take it sight unseen. Lord Howes Island (Aussie). Mountains wildlife beaches beautiful water.
Yeah, I thought she had been back in this AM but I may be wrong, we'll give her a 10 minute clock then skipActually think Mrs. R said last night to skip her if she's not in the thread, but I'm probably too lazy to confirm this.No one in the next 10-15 picks is on skip
brilliantJeff Buckley - Grace
There are records out there by artists that I would have a back up plan for, but tragically, not this one. There is nothing else like it.
Last Goodbye
Grace
Here I think.Actually think Mrs. R said last night to skip her if she's not in the thread, but I'm probably too lazy to confirm this.
Ok Boomer. Happy belated birthday. You know that you don’t have to lend voice to your every thought, right? It’s okay to not post sometimes.
I'll try him today.Yes, drowning accident after basically one album and he’s not country in the slightest.
Whispering PinesThe Band - The Band
This seems like low hanging fruit. A must have.
What songs did cosjob pick for the Last Waltz? I don't want to double up.
Does this mean I can (should) go?Here I think.Actually think Mrs. R said last night to skip her if she's not in the thread, but I'm probably too lazy to confirm this.
I have an Australian buddy who lives in Melbourne and he has a running shtick of sending me news stories about terrifying Australian bugs, animals, snakes, etc.. I want to visit him, but I'm a skeered to.
His “baby” better watch her back.A friend of mine has his alarm clock set to go off every morning to "Down By The River."
She did say that, and you didn't take it, Binky. Ya snooze you lose.Sorry. :( I told simey I thought this wouldn't get back to me because you'd take it in Round 4 or 5.
Damn - wanted this one. You could have "Down By The River" and "Cowgirl In The Sand" along with 25 minutes of Neil brushing his teeth, and it would still be a great album.5.24. Neil Young & Crazy Horse — Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Another NY&CH record has my favorite NY&CHsong on it, but this is a better record and can any song be THAT much better than “Down By the River”? Of course it can’t, dummy.
I’ll add links in a minute.
If you're like me that #### will knock you out like a bottle of p-dI just bought premium family spotify. I merged my son and I accidentally. I lost this draft list, but gained all kinds of weird rap from 2020 apparently.
I'm more frightened by 16 hours on an airplaneI have an Australian buddy who lives in Melbourne and he has a running shtick of sending me news stories about terrifying Australian bugs, animals, snakes, etc.. I want to visit him, but I'm a skeered to.

This might be their best tune IMO - and that's obviously saying a lot.

Since I missed all of the Beatles I would want, I was going to be happy to at least have George’s masterpiece - oh well.Sorry. :( I told simey I thought this wouldn't get back to me because you'd take it in Round 4 or 5. You can come visit Vancouver Island and listen with me.
I'm here.I'm actually getting out of the house in about 45 minutes. Can I leave my pick with someone if I'm not up by then.

That helps me narrow down my next 2 picks so... thank you?5.29 - Peter Gabriel - So (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
First concert I ever went to as a teen without parents. Fifth row, stage right at one of those outdoor places with regular seats and lawn. (Great Woods in Mansfield back then for any MA-holes out there!) such an awesome show.
1. That Voice Again
2. Don't Give Up (w/Kate Bush)
If specifying the edition is cheating, oh well! You basically get a whole concert included, including one of the best songs to see/hear performed live. (Not the version on the album, but...)
Just for fun a good reaction to the Sledgehammer video (one of the best of the 80s).

or at least log in anonymously like @shuke right nowI have write-ups prepped for my next four picks. I really should be doing more actual work.

When are we starting the 80's portion of this shizz anyway? That helps me narrow down my next 2 picks so... thank you?
I got my Talking Heads record so I've begun dabbling in the 80s. Not going to lie though, missing out on Peter Gabriel was a massive blow to my 80s plans. When are we starting the 80's portion of this shizz anyway?
I had Aja on deck if AiC unplugged was sniped. When Aja fell, I was good because Royal Scam or ##### would have filled the void, and I wanted those Unpluggeds. During this draft I realized Aja was my pat favorite for the high school nostalgia, but Royal Scam is my preference now. It's all about drugs and thugs, crime and violence. Plenty of fodder for Cos's crime draft idea. Kid Charlemagne my favorite song, Carlton's solo within my favorite moment. And, wth, there is a bunch of extended Aja tracks in this live performance. This is my SOD.Their lack of influence while being so commercial is a testament to their greatness. Most musicians who are that jazz-influenced and that capable of sophisticated musical arrangements end up lost in humorless wankery. Most rockers who are that literate, intellectual, and honestly funny have little interest in the business of seriously developing their chops or being taskmasters over the world’s top session players. Steely Dan are where the twain met, and if the twain met only one time, it was enough to give us enough great records for a lifetime. The day that Becker met Fagen shouldn’t be celebrated as any less serendipitous an occasion than the day Lennon met McCartney or Jagger met Richards, even if Steely Dan was never going to spark a revolution.
