Pink Floyd the wall depresses the f out of me btw. I like wywh, darkiskide of the moon is incredible, and what I've heard of animals is cool. But I can't get w the wall
Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon aren't exactly uplifting albums.

@krista4  did you say you got some crazy ### lightning storm like a week ago? I think we got it right after you. It uprooted a bunch of trees and knocked over power lines. 115 mph winds. We hardly ever get lightning storms but got another one tonight. We usually get Seattle's weather like a day later

We just got thunder a week or so ago but no lightning.  We had a lightning storm about two years ago.  Well, not really a storm but a few flashes of lightning that got everyone talking.    Where are you?

ETA:  115 mph winds?  That's freaking terrifying.

We rarely get thunderstorms and never in the summer.

I miss them in an abstract way but the novelty would probably wear off between zero and two storms.

Sky is a light show like Pink Floyd night at the planetarium
Pink Floyd always had great light shows. I remember one of my friends at a show kept saying "I only touch people I know" saying it over and over. I can't remember if he was tripping or not, but he was a germaphobe, and his nuttiness is what I remembered most from the show.

Yeah, with eleventy billion songs on the playlist, it sucks that I got the same one twice in no more than two hours today.  I will not like Los Kjarkas no matter what you say!

I'm now listening to one of the mid-aughts Wolf bands.  Doesn't matter which one.

If anybody cares about the outcome of my book crisis, I'm going with A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan.  I liked her Manhattan Beach.

I'm going to put the headphones, read a book and spend quality time next to Mrs. Eephus.  Good night and have a pleasant round 43 in the morning.

Fontanelle - Babes in Toyland (1992)

Riot Grrrrrrl on 'roids ... Kat Bjelland   is pissed off, and she finally got a major to facilitate wider distribution of her primal power punk.

produced by Lee Renaldo (Sonic Youth) and chock full of nasty and gutteral wailings and screeching chords by the queen Kat - it's as abrasive and obnoxious as anything released under the umbrella.

this major debut (but second album) garnered them some buzz, mostly due to the "Bruise Violet" song/vid, wherein Ms. Bjelland sonically eviscerates Courtney Love for ripping her style, most notably the "Kinderwhore" look which Kat was rocking first ... it's deeper than that, though - she had a lotta problems with Love, it kinda comes out in the lyric, ya know?

they began a process of breaking up and reforming starting around '00 ... they never got it together the way they did for this one ... it remains a visceral snapshot of early 90s alt insanity.

PS - got to meet them at a gig they did at Maxwells in Hoboken ... Kat was as cool as she was stunning - very gracious with the fans - as was drummer Lori Barbero.

*both lyrics NSFW*

Bruise Violet not for the squeamish - but it'll wake ya right he hell up - crank it

Handsome & Gretel about Kat's favorite grunge couple ...

NEED TO BE ADDED TO SPOTTY, POR FAVOR - TIA ✌

Since I’m awake now for no particular reason, and Uruk posted a Round 43, guess I will too.

43.xx - Hüsker Dü - New Day Rising (1985)

Rock music.

Songs are “New Day Rising” and “Books About UFOs” - PITA to do links from my phone

I'm a rebel, k4

Thinking about a headache/hangover shuffle, but I'm kinda scared.
Perhaps I could interest you in my latest pick:

43.14: Conflicting Emotions - Split Enz

For the playlist: Straight Old Line and Message to My Girl

The first selection will do just enough to wake you up and the second one will let you know being awake is enough.

A favorite singer songwriter of mine from the mid 80s and 90's.  He has so many good ones for me including a stellar collaboration with Boo Hewerdine, but I'll settle on this one one which I always enjoy.. he had a mild hit with Loving Arms

pick 42:

Darden Smith ‎– Little Victories - 1993

  • Loving Arms
  • Dream's A Dream

42.21 Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Toward Ecstasy

(1993)

Incredible voice. I thought of taking a remix album that had a bunch of these songs but in electronic form but this one's really good so not gonna overthink it. But that remix album is really good too and I've got some good memories of it. Island needed a female voice.

Songs:

Possession

Plenty
great record!

I've been a Brandi fan since her debut and have seen her several times, got a chance to meet her at a show on Long Island in a smaller place as she was beginning to emerge, as she was signing a CD, i mentioned to her I would like to bring my daughters to see her one day and she said please do.. fast forward 12 years or so and she finally got a chance to play MSG last summer and brought my wife and 3 daughters to her Sold out show a full circle for me, it's been enjoyable to watch her career progress over the years..  a fine voice and a good songwriter... I'm gonna go back to her original one which is still a great record for me...

pick 43 - Brandi Carlile ‎– Brandi Carlile - 2005

  • Throw It All Away
  • Fall Apart Again

42.07? Journey - Journey (Astronauts) 1975

I fookin hate Steve Perry.  This was Journey's first record and it sounds nothing like Journey. Prog at it's best.  It's a cross between Santana and Pink Floyd.  I play it all the time.  I grabbed the original vinyl a few months back.  If they just kept this lineup and this direction, I would have been a huge Journey fan. I hate Steve Perry and his song book. I don't expect many of you are familiar with this.  It's one of my prog goats.

OMFG!  Live 1980, Of a Lifetime

Kohoutek
I just played this again.  So good.  If you like Prog, go give it a spin or five.  You will thank me later.

On a side note...If Terminators actually become a thing in the future, my first order of business is to send one back to go after the teenager Steve Perry.  Do man kind a solid.

Man, you guys are rough on Perry like he kicked your dog or something. Dude had some serious pipes - as discussed awhile back, wasn’t his decision to move in a more pop sensible direction.

I just hate that he's a band ruiner.  I hate his voice.  I acknowledge he made them a ton of money, but sell outs.

Yeah, because no one gets in the music business to get famous or make money.

ah, #### - i missed it. Fridays are grocery shopping day, so i'm up @ 5:30am to take advantage of the market's senior early-bird hour and, therefore, crashed early. not that the rock & roll road has ever been even close to well-portrayed, but eternal vigilance against Almost Famous is the price of freedom from inane cliches of wish fulfillment. @simey leading a busload of strays in We've Only Just Begun would have been closer to the truth. AND TRUTH MUST ABIDE!!!!

Maybe the worst thing to come out of this pandemic.

I was gonna draft another jazz album since DF was taken, but I'm not in the mood. I can do that tomorrow. This album entered my mind a few minutes ago, and wasn't on my radar, but it was a big part of my 5th year in college. We would go down to Raleigh sometimes on the weekend, and one of our friends that lived there always put this album on late night. I had some great times there. This is somewhat of a concept album that was recorded entirely on the road in hotel rooms, backstage, on buses, on the stage, etc.

Round 42

Running on Empty - Jackson Browne (1977)

Running on Empty

You Love The Thunder
if you have Prine & JB together on your island, sooner or later there's gonna be a fight, y'know

I still love the movie.  Reality has turned into a bad fantasy at my house over the last three years.  Almost Famous is a romantic and entertaining escape from the real world.

Mother - Pink Floyd - Love it, all time classic. In a strange way, even downbeat Pink Floyd songs make me feel happy.

Jealous Guy - John Lennon - Yeah, back to back pretty great songs. Even driving around today, I was getting a lot of classics. Spotify telling me somethiing?
and back to back Doc Oc picks!
