It was necessary to skip Bender.
Call me crazy, but I don't think you sniped him.
So many great songs that I can't pick because I'm trapped by my theme/vibe.
LOL, there is a song I contemplated taking in the first round that is still there. Perfect Jukebox song, yet still not drafted. I wont pick it bc it doesnt fit the theme

I'm considering just sticking with the black artists theme after all. I haven't drafted anything after the year 2000 because I'm not sure yet. I'm actually loving my mix on this though, I've never had an excuse to draft so much guilty pleasure music before.

I feel the same.

I started with going for a country(ish) sound to all of my songs and I'm trying to stick with it. Well, actually my first selection didn't fit my "theme/sound" very much at all but had to have it. I may stray a little again, but for the most part I want to stick with this "theme".

That Wilburys song was on my list.
Mine too...impressive group of guys to put together in a band.
Hope I'm not spotlighting here. Just thought of these guys yesterday when I heard "My Back Pages" on the radio yesterday from the Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert from a number of years ago. Included three-fifths of the Wilburys, and talk about a collection of all-time talent on one stage.

1985 - Voices Carry - 'Til Tuesday

The rumor growing up in Boston was that 'Til Tuesday, a Boston Band, had arranged with The Wang Center (Theatre in Boston), for Aimee Mann to just start singing the part towards the end of the show without anyone being aware; resulting in the wonderful looks from the others in the audience.
Either that or they were giggling at "Wang Center".

Sorry for the delay. I just got back from picking up my car. They finally fixed my airbag recall thing. I'll pick in a minute...

I fixed both of my Honda's last year and they still call me about it. I even sold one car since!

Stray Cats and Sabotage were both on my list. Nice.

 I would've taken this earlier if it fit my theme. Lovely pick.

There are 2 songs that I figured would have been picked by now. They are rock songs and that style does not seem to be as popular as I had anticipated with this group.

Love this thread. Impressed by the work you have all put in.

I would love to make my own list and throw it up at the end but have not had time to even start.

I'm the rock-only doofus but I've handcuffed myself a bit with a "theme"..

9.22a - Deftones - Hexagram - 2003

9.22b - Radiohead - The National Anthem - 2000

Simply put, this Deftones song is class A material to me. It's insane, heavy, metal, nu metal, and beautiful. I love these guys. If this is the heights of nu metal, give it to me and then some. One of the greatest metal bands ever. Does Radiohead need an explanation? What the heck was that instrument? An onces mondelet? A theremin? Almost went Beatles and a song about correspondence in a muted way, but I'll pass.

eta* onces mondelet. Knew that wasn't right. Had to look it up. Ondes Martenot,

Almost picked a Deftones song for 2000. Kind of wish I did.

Great Radiohead track as well. I love the ending that sounds like a brass band crashing into a wall or something.

doubt those were the two, but I was getting worried they'd get sniped.

There really isn't anything you could have picked wrong for the 2000 Deftones. Yoah.

I've just -- and I'm not really a metalhead other than but for a glam/thrash excursion in the late '80s -- loved the Deftones from the word jump. Just love 'em, and actually like their hits less than most of their deep cuts. Their deep cuts are their best. It's too bad Chi died for a myriad of reasons; but the guy from Quicksand makes them sound totally different, and it's not as good. And I love Quicksand.

eta* And Radiohead soothes my free jazz/noise rock love vibe at the end of that song. You're right. I also love new instruments or instruments that are out of left field. Never forget Thom Yorke playing that song late night on television in some TV format, totally on his knees, looking like a shaver to a lathe. Awesome.

quicksand ruled

I've got to get into the 90's and 2000's here eventually:

Keeping it upbeat, and keeping it black

9.a.: Mya - Fallen - 2003

Good song

9.b.: Janet Jackson - Escapade -1989

The best of her "upbeat" work, IMO
finally a tune I like (escapade). you and I have very different taste mr bender

My ex-gf (who was white) looked like Mya. It was sweet.

Keep it upbeat!
Mya is smoking hot.

Janet was the first woman in my life when I started noticing women were hot. Everything about her around the release of the Janet. screamed sex. I loved her long time.

I understand and that's what makes this fun, I've always been into R&B/Soul and Rap over Rock. I appreciate Rock and love a lot of it, I appreciate all kinds of music, but I grew up with what I grew up with and just can't help it.

I kinda liked her more as wholesome/girl-next-door Charlene on Diff'rent Strokes.

Let's just say that I preferred to watch the Love Will Never Do Without You video alone while in college.
This guy gets it.

That and every video from "Janet" were awesome. I wore out that CD and my tube socks in lock step.

Janet jackson was so hot in a particular video when I was in 9th grade. I wanted to marry her. Would link, but no spotlighting
