DI Jukebox Draft (66-15)- Listen up (3 Viewers)

I just watched a documentary about Bob Marley. I never knew Rastafarian was born out of believing hail selessie (spelling?) was god. Wtf

No response necessary. Don't want to drown this thread in history talk.

2007 KATE NASH-FOUNDATIONS

linklinklinklink

2005 PAUL WELLER-COME ON/LETS GO

linklinklinklink

I'm a sucker for anything Weller does. Loved The Jam , on any given day they are my all time favorite band. Come On/Lets Go is as good as anything he's done outside The Jam. Always gets me moving

Haile Selassie, yes.

The name Rastafari itself is a combination of Ras, an Ethiopian term for chief/leader, and Tafari, the birth name of Haile Selassie I.

1999- Backstreet Boys "I Want It That Way"
Yesssssss.

Their second-best song, IMO.
Is that like steam escaping?

Evander Kane had a big night, eh? No Gordie Howe hat trick?
Steam escaping in a good way. That song was a crowd-pleaser at my high school dances, it got all the teen girls going.

No assist for Kane so no Gordie Howe. The celebration after the second fight was pretty great though, he taunted Petrovic with a 2-0 hand gesture and kept saying "two-oh" on the way to the box. There's a framegrab and a video of the fight in here. I want someone to make that two-oh into a gif. The third fight is in there now too...Kane landed some good shots in that one.

I'm leaning toward one round per day starting on Wednesday. You can make your two picks at any time. Please try to include your pick number in your post.

We're still making good progress and have a ton of great chatter but the mechanics of managing the clock and skips are more trouble than they're worth IMO.

I think two picks a day are plenty for now since it's a journey not a race. Probably won't bump to three picks until after President's Day.
Sounds good, but I would consider 2 rounds/4songs. That has been about what the pace has been during the week.
it's kind of hard to tell when you're near the turn
???Just feels like I have been getting in 4 picks most of the time, but I could be off. No worries.
I guess we could do two picks in the am and two in the pm. Does anybody other than KP have an opinion re: pace?
What's the rush? Let's just do two picks a day and see how it goes for a while. ETA: this does not apply to anyone who is already in the 30th round.
No rush, just didn't understand going at a slower pace. The pace is fine now, just thought everyone was getting in 4 songs/day. Again, i couldbe wrong about what the pace is.

I think it has varied, but I'm on a post so I'm not sure. Anyway, if the consensus is four a day I'm not going to be mad or anything. :) This has been an outstanding draft so far, as much for the commentary as the selections.

I agree. Why do we have to rush? I want to savor the music.

I've only been making two picks a day unless it was almost my turn at the start of the day on odd numbered rounds.

Holiday Road is great. I pick songs for these drafts that I have given 5 stars in my iTunes account (that is my first filter) - it just probably isn't in the wheelhouse of most of the drafters. I went to a Fleetwood Mac concert last April. It was an amazing show and Buckingham didn't disappoint. No solo stuff by him or Nicks though.

2 picks a day please.

When we rush through things, we dont talk about the music and its all one big jerk fest to see who finishes first.

I want everyone to come
Sure, from the guy who pops in once a day. ;)

We have done a ton of these, and the interest still seems pretty high still, so that is great. Just wonder if the interest will stay that high if we stretch this to 3 1/2 weeks of drafting.

How about a hybrid suggestion and if we do the two picks a day, we do one in the am, one in the afternoon? Other drafts have gone to one a days, and people dump off their picks in the morning and don't come back around as much after that. That would stretch out the picks a tad, and keep people coming back in the thread a little more.

I just need to dip into the music before the draft is over I guess.

Wednesday rules are Wednesday rules. Let's see how it goes.

Holiday Road was my top '83 choice for a couple days but then IDOL took over

However I still need a campy movie tune

Frankie Valli - Grease (1978)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBVB3vHjKhs

The Cars - Hello Again (1984)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCj_qdKa1Kg

Forgot how godawful that video was

Just now we're getting to the good stuff I see
No Travolta + Newton-John? Travolta can actually sing surprisingly well.
Not my bag. Wait neither is disco, what am I doing?

I am ducking hammeredc and owe picks, I think. Last year I saw Brandon Flowers live. Whatever, Europe loves him, NA hates him anyway who am I to say your whole country is wrong?

10.11 The Flaming Lips - Race For The Prize (1999)
Love this song. This was my favorite album of that year. Some great picks this round.

I saw them at least 4 or 5 times on this tour---some of the best shows I've every attended.
They are playing The Soft Bulletin in its entirety at Red Rocks the end of May but its on a Thursday.

I kinda like the slower pace. If we double it I feel we would lose some conversation and miss some new music, but I'm flexible.

I am thinking of going to the Barenaked Ladies + OMD + Howard Jones in June and the Heart + Joan Jett + Cheap Trick show in August. It is by far my favorite venue in the Denver area (assuming good weather).

Well OK then.

Back to the days when the Clintons were popular...

1999- Backstreet Boys "I Want It That Way"

1998- Aerosmith "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing"
"I Want It That Way"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fndeDfaWCg

"I Don't Want to Miss A Thing"-https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkK8g6FMEXE(With scenes from the blockbuster film, "Armageddon"!)
The schtick isn't flying here. Respect the draft.
Can I admit I actually like both of these songs? Not enough to actually own them or seek them out, but enough to not cringe if I happen to hear them somehow.

10.30A? Michael Jackson -Can't Stop Till You Get Enough. 1979

10.30B? Bee Gees - Night Fever 1978
