Yeah, absolutely. If you ride a bike aggressively or in areas with a lot of traffic, you should wear a helmet. I guess I was just kinda pushing back on the "if you don't wear a helmet, you're taking your life in your own hands" talk.
I hear ya.

You got a will and everything sorted though, right?

Preferably answer for when you are biking, but feel free to include times when you are just relaxing around the house.

ETA - asking based off the lunatics who are not wearing eye gear when mowing the lawn.
How would you get hit in the eye cutting the grass? I would never not wear eye protection using the trimmer since i like to trim to the left and right and obviously when trimming to the right it is spitting back at you. But it would never even occur to me to wear eye protection when mowing. It would have to hit the ground and bounce up at me or break through the metal.

I have a very shady lot though so my grass would never be hard enough to ricochet something like that.

Accidentally ran over the metal fire poker the other day near the burn pit. Broke it into a couple pieces. Never even made it outside the radius of the mower.

I guess maybe i could see if mowing up a hill how something could get launched at you. Well if you are also a hobbit.

Nope.

I understand it for those that bike long distances, on rough terrain, or in bike lanes/traffic.  My biking entails almost none of that.  I'd say over 95% of the riders I see out there are wearing helmets.  I'm just not one of them.

I made a promise to my mother when I was in college that I would always wear one.  She said, "I've paid too much for the damn brain of yours to see it ruined in a bike accident."

I couldn't really argue with that logic.
opposite for me.  Dad figured a good jolt to my head would be an improvement.

That's pretty much how we justify ourselves.

Riding on the road, 20+ mph? Absolutely wearing my helmet. And eye protection.

Riding on a beach path or greenway without cars? I'll go without. Probably shouldn't but we live on the edge.

I passed a guy today riding with a halloween mask instead of a helmet. The strap was under his chin and the skull was sitting on top of his head.  It's probably not up to Snell standards.
