does ambien show in urine? (3 Viewers)

DSP

I have a job interview next week. I will be drug tested. I take 5mg ambien every night to sleep. Im prescribed. I know its narcotic so can it cause me to fail the test?

It actually depends from individual to individual. Some people metabolize gamma-aminobutyric acids differently. There's an easy way to find out which type you are. Drink a cup of your urine, and if it has a sort of anise flavor, that means the drug is presenting.

Are you serious? Dont make me do this because I will......I really need a job

Cant I just taste a little? Does it have to be a whole cup?

ambien isn't a narcotic.
My doc said it was. She didnt want to give it to me because I have drug history......but nothing else worked
It's not a narcotic, but it is some type of special drug. I remember when I used to take it, the drug stores would give me a hard time about refilling my prescription too soon. I told them I'd pay for it off of insurance, thinking it was insurance holding it up, but they said it had nothing to do with that. Not sure what class of drug it's considered, but it's not like getting a normal prescription filled.

If you are legally prescribed the drug, then you should disclose that you are taking it. I assume there is a questionnaire prior to testing asking what you are taking etc.

I never had a problem. I get 30 a month and only take it on nights I need sleep. Never had to fill it again early

Just because something is addictive doesn't mean it is a narcotic
On second thought I think thats what she said. Didnt say it was narcotic or not

Im definitely dependent on it
You should probably think about getting off of it, if this is true. I took it for over 4 years and slowly built up a tolerance. It wouldn't knock me out, but I would black out. And apparently when I blacked out, I would take more to try and make myself fall asleep. I would wake up and like 8 would be gone. Then one day I woke up in the police station and had a car that was completely smashed up.

Never would have believed it would have happened to me. Up until that night, I was under the illusion that I could control it. But when it went south, it went south quick.

Idk. Its a cdl-b job driving an ambulance. I just gotmy license. Ive heard you cant drive if taking certain meds

i doubt that the drug screen will include it.

i am a civil engineer and work in the construction industry. my company participates with the local trade unions' program, which has pre-employment, annual and for-cause testing. the analytes are:

amphetamines/methamphetamines

barbiturates

Benzodiazepines

cannabis

cocaine

methadone

opiates

PCP

Propoxyphene (some painkiller from the 50s called Darvon)

ambien doesn't fall into any of those categories.

I have a script for a drug that contains librium, a benzo. when i do my annual test, i contact the medical review officer, send in the script information, and it's all good.

Well, that's why you don't have a problem getting it filled.

I was addicted for 3 years on the stuff - we actually had an Ambien thread here for a while when I would take it and fight through the sleep and post random stuff.

I quit cold turkey and it was a rough go but glad to be off of it

Im dependent on it because im a bad insomniac. I dont feel physically dependent just psychologically. I kicked heroin, crack and alcoholat the same time cold turkey so Iim not worried ambien will get me lol

it is likely that the pharmacy would have to report that they were filling the scripts too early and could get in trouble.

I know now for narcotic drugs, there is a national database that states and pharmacies are using to prevent doctor shopping. When you get a narcotic filled, it is loaded into this database and can be seen by others who also use it. Refilling a narcotic early is a big no-no as well and has to be reported.

I actually had bad withdrawals from it. Took about a week to get out of my system.

Hope you're right, but I used to say the same thing. But the problem with Ambien is that you black out but are still awake. So you can't really count on making good judgement calls. It's not so much about not being able to stop using it, but what you do while you're on it. Quitting it is easy.

Never blacked out. I usually listen to talk radio and fall asleep within an hour. First few weeks id wake up very groggy but now I just wake up refreshed

Have never changed the dose. Always been 5mg

I used to cook when I was on it. I still have a memory of making a banana's foster dessert at around 1am. Flambed the liquor and everything. I think I only reason why i remembered it was because the smoke detector went off. I'd used to wake up in the AM with a bunch of dishes in the sink from when i cooked. My roomates at the time also would tell me stories of how I'd go into their room and try to hold a conversation with them and couldn't and go back to bed.

crazy stuff

Yeah. I used to shred things with my shredder. I'd wake up and the shredder would be full. And there would be things like food and DVD's in there. On the plus side, I used to clean the hell out of my place when I was on it. I'd wake up and it would look like the maid came. Too bad I couldn't ever find where "she" put most of my things while "she" was cleaning up. :hot:

Anything less than 6 oz. and the olfactory data will be incomplete and unreliable. You can mix the urine with a neutral spirit like vodka, if that helps.

ambien is farging gnarly. i was a participant in the axed ambien thread. it mill make you do weird ####. and if you have a drug dependency issue, i can see this morphing into something you don't want.

I will never forget one post I tried to make in the thread. I tried to concentrate so hard on what I was writing and when I was done and posted, it still made zero sense.

one of the best posts i ever made got washed away when that thread got the ax. i was the naked online gambler, with my cats dead ashes and my daughter's stuffed animals helping me.

good times

You must have missed the part about me being a former alcoholic
