Eli is the closest thing to a can't miss the NFL has seen in 5 years.
Gutsiest call I ever saw, man.And dead wrong. Meh, throw it on the pile.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Apparently, you don't watch football - Eli played very well the last 3 games of the season, and was great in that Sunday nite game against the Giants (3 TDs IIRC).

Yeah, I heard Eli did some real damage to the Giants last year.

This kid's not that bad, really.
:goodposting;:badthreadstarting:
After watching him cry at the draft podium, many of us where quick to write him off (or just hope that he fails). I'm pretty sure that I was wrong. He's been impressive in tonights game. Give the kid some time to throw and he hits the receivers, often in tight spots.

so far this year, he looks better than his brother
Which isn't saying a lot.Eli = loser
For a second year player that has started only a handful of games, Eli shows remarkable situational awareness and makes excellent throws and decisions on the field. Now please continue with the regularly scheduled irrational "I hate Eli because he is a crybaby and will therefore suck" ranting.

This thread should be locked unless "the little pickle" will quantify what Eli or any QB would have to accomplish in order "not to suck" in the NFL.

Win on the road?
Good call.Eli just couldn't stop Tomlinson tonight. He didn't even make one tackle.

That's it? Then maybe this was never threadworthy to begin with.

There is more Manning family bashing on this board than of any other player(s)........I think its pointless and immature when people dig on them when there are guys like Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, heck, Travis Henry running around in the NFL. People hate the Mannings for these reasons, that I can tell. They are.......WhiteRichChristians.....the whole Manning family is.ClassyTeam PlayersWow, I wish we all could be like Shawn Taylor, Ricky Williams, Terrell Owens, Keyshawn Johnson, Randy Moss, Ray Lewis, and on and on.....the great people they are and the positive media attention they get, I totally see where the Mannings are "Pigs at the trough", or "Egotistical babies".....yeah they are SO much worse than the aforementioned saints.

you can't generalize that because people dislike the mannings that they automatically like those players listed. Well, you can, but it's not the best way to make your point.I like Peyton, don't like Eli. Classify me.

That's the thing. Many people (not necessarily you) have the train of thought "I don't like Eli (for whatever reason) therefore he does/will suck."

I'm not particularly fond of Owens. But he's a great WR.

Beyond the fact that the Eli hate has become irrational, many can't seperate their personal feelings and the player's skill/portential skill.

BTW, according to ESPN, Archie Manning said someone within the Chargers organization told him, "don't let your son come here."... FWIW.

to each his own.Manning came off like a silver spoon punk when he entered the league, not exactly what I look for in someone to root for...whether he be white, black, yellow, purple, green or Jewish.

Exactly the image that AJ Smith was trying characterize and embarass Eli Manning with by going public with the private discussions with the Mannings. So I guess Smith did a good job after all.

I don't know where San Diego's D Line ranks, or where their pass rush ranks, but they weren't putting anything close to pressure on Manning. Any QB that has as much time in the pocket before it collapses as Manning did last night can find at least one receiver open. He had all day. I still wasn't overly impressed. He missed a throw at the goal line to either Toomer or Burress (can't remember which one it was right now), and that ball floated in like a punt- end over end and like a rainbow. All he would have had to do was lead the guy a little more, or even throw a spiral. There were several balls that were nearly intercepted, most notably, the one that was interceoted and returned for a TD only to be called back. I was laughing out loud watching the guy taunt Manning with the ball as he was crossing the goal line, only to yank the ball back at the last second as Manning lunges for it. :lmao:

I'm not sure what game you were watching, but Manning constantly moved away from pressure in the pocket to find the "soft spot" to throw from. I don't remeber seeing so many 3rd and long coversions in a game as the Giants had. A combination of Mannings ability and the soft SD defense.Pretend that the name on the QBs jersey was "Smith" or "Jones" and re-evalute.

I bet you'd be more impressed.

Yes they did convert a lot of 3rd downs. But again, IMO, it was mostly because of what you aptly called the soft SD defense. It was pathetic really. I didn't see Manning moving away from pressure in the pocket because there wasn't any pressure in the pocket to speak of. Again I will say that any QB who has that much time to throw is going to find someone open. But yes, to convert that many 3rd downs as a team is pretty impressive, regardless of who you are playing. I'm just saying that to me, Manning isn't proving that he's star material yet.

Anyone surprised by Eli's accuracy didn't bother watching him in college.I saw him play in person twice, and on TV at least 10 times. He was ALWAYS very accurate, especially on the move.I have no doubt, and never had a doubt, that he will succeed in the NFL.

Eli's going to be very good if not great as a QB. There's no doubt given his obvious game instincts and confidence even at this early stage. Believe me, that doesn't make me happy to say that as a 'Skins fan. Second, this soap opera with the Chargers has been comedic. You saw last night why. If Manning had gone to SD, he'd be sitting on the bench there too. Brees has suddenly transformed into a decisive QB who confidently runs the offense. So SD traded away a backup QB for another backup QB (who still has a lot of trade value) along with multiple draft picks. Oh and BTW, Manning was right not to like the SD franchise. Just ask Antonio Gates.

Eli has definitely arrived. The kid plays with a lot of poise and confidence, and most of all, he's shown he can take a hit and get back up slinging. As an NFC East fan, I had hoped the Giants missed on the kid, but they've definitely done themselves a service by trading for him.

wow, look at all the people jump to his defense now that he finally did something.

I will come right out and say it, I have said from day 1 that Eli Manning will never be a legit pro quarterback. Starting to save room for pie as I type.

Manning curse????
the manning's do not have the pedigree to win.no manning will ever win the superbowl.

peyton couldn't take tennessee to a NC with inferior talent than when tee martin did, and eli has never done anything either.

mannings are stats whores and not winners.

[mannings are stats whores and not winners.
You don't know what the hell you are talking about. I'm :bag: for you.
The guy has a point. What's the biggest game any Manning has ever won?
Let's see. Ben Roethlisberger sucked in his first 2 playoff games. His team carried him in a win over the Jets, and he got blown out by NE. This was Eli's first playoff game. Peyton has won several big playoff games already (any playoff game is big). How many Super Bowls did Marino win? The jury is still out on how many Peyton will win. Also, and again, Peyton didn't defend Lamar Smith running for 200 on them in the playoffs, or the 200 George put on them. He also didn't play defense in that 41-0 loss to the NYJ, or miss that kick the idiot liquored up kicker missed against the Dolphins.

What did Peyton's defense have to do with his ZERO vs the Jets, 3 vs the Pats last year, and 4 ints vs the Pats 2 years ago? Did Tee Martin cast a spell on Spurrier?

Haha - there's a "where are they now" for you... Tee Martin.Bet he'd trade that NCAA Championship for Manning's NFL Career. I'd say Manning got the better of that deal.
