Eli Manning to suck in the NFL (1 Viewer)

Weird how you can find a thread whose last post was five months ago, yet it seems like sometimes threads whose last post was five weeks ago are missing.

Yep. Definitely still learning though.

And GDB me foolish enough to skim thru a number of these posts. Should've known it'd turn into another pile of Manning Hate Club "how many rings do they have" gibberish

As a Charger fan i hate Eli (but thank him for all the draft picks we got for him!)

As a Plax and Shockey owner I root for his passing to improve.

He needs consistancy. He isnt Peyton, but hes decent enough. Lesser QBs have done well in the NFL.

I hope this thread never gets lost in a purge so that we can be bumping it 5 years from now every time he has a great or disastrous game.

Eli will reach a Super Bowl before Peyton does.
Was digging up this old thread really necessary...
I don't see why not. It's always interesting to see how expectations match reality especially from a dynasty perspective. Threads like these, various McGahee threads, Reggie Bush, etc. just prove to me that many FF'ers put way too much weight into youth/upside as opposed to real production. Year after year "can't miss" guys continue to miss.

Completely disagree with this rationale. You guys are giving far too much value to Rivers and Big Ben.Odds are that only 1 of these 3 guys actually becomes a Pro Bowl caliber QB. If the Giants are/were sold that Eli is the one (as am I, though I have high hopes Rivers makes it 2/3), they had to get him, regardless of the cost. It's easy to say the Giants should have slid to 7 and got someone like Big Ben now. In two years when Eli's on the verge of the Pro Bowl, and Big Ben is Dan McGwire Jr., you guys will be calling the Giants geniuses.Eli is the closest thing to a can't miss the NFL has seen in 5 years.
:bye: Ben struggling this year but he's already won a ring and Rivers could be headed for the Super Bowl this year in his first year as a starter. Meanwhile, Eli is falling apart.Which of these 3 QBs would you rather have right now?Personally, I'd take Ben and Rivers over Eli.

Admittedly Rivers is outplaying Ben this season, but you cant discount the run Ben had in the playoffs last season, his accident this summer, and the emergency appendectomy which caused him to lose significant weight this season. Hopefully he can fully recover this off-season (and the Steelers line gets their collective heads out of their asses)

Eli Manning ranks 24th in QB rating right now.

These QBs are ranked above him:

Seneca Wallace

Brad Johnson

Rex Grossman

Jon Kitna

Alex Smith

JP Losman

Mark Brunell

Philip Rivers

Damon Huard

Tony Romo

These QBs are ranked below him:

Ben Roethlisberger

Michael Vick

Joey Harrington

Jake Plummer

Bruce Gradkowski

Matt Leinart

Charlie Frye

he has 3 TDs and 7 INTs over his last 4 games. he's also only been sacked 5 times in those games so it doesn't seem like he's facing a ton of pressure either.

Good thing that Eli & Archie knew what they were doing when they passed on SD for the stability of NYG.

Anyone going to draft this turd as their starter? :X
:( Good bump, sir. Wait a sec -- you're not supposed to be here. Can I request you posting that one video....'Comanche' or 'Cherokee' or something like that...in this thread for posterity. TIA.

A random musing I had the other day. Is there a such thing as a middle of the road top 10 QB pick (was thinking about Joey Harrington and his alleged comeback specifically)? It seems like they are either ultra successful or are completely run out of the league in 2-3 years. You've got your McNabbs, Peytons, Palmers and you've got your Tim Couches, Akili Smiths and Ryan Leafs.

I am hard pressed to find a guy who was a top 10ish pick, was decent but not great and was able to hold a job for a couple years before moving onto another team and doing the same thing.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground here. So Eli better hurry up and figure out which one he wants to be. Trending towards Tim Couch now I'd say.

I've never seen so much universal disdain and hatred for a player. Why? Everyone I talk to just thinks he's the worst QB ever. He's not that bad. I'm a huge Giants fan and I rank him average to above average.

Dilfer's a very good one, actually. Moved around, wona ring, has been okay places and is now mentoring.
