My name isn’t Joey. I grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn and, when I tell stories of my youth and describe the area and characters who lived there, one thing I’d describe is the old Italian woman yelling to her son out the window:

[heavy NY accent]

“Hey Joey, get in here and take your sister to dance lessons!!!”

My new friends in CA gave me the nickname Joey after that, so I’ve kinda owned it as my NYC persona.

Back in the old days of arcade games, you would have to put in 3 letters as your name for high scores. I would always use JAM, since my name is James. After a while they extended that to 5 letters so I added NY to it for New York. So the local bowling alley, where we played most arcade games, would have jamny on the list on names where I qualified.

Now I hate it but whatever.

ETA:  I've never used an alias for all of the time that I've been here.  If I can't own up to what I type here I shouldn't be saying it.
For years I've claimed to be a well-known Furley alias, but the only time I've ever had an alias of my own is when I was kind enough to bring some levity to a tragic situation and got a 999-day ban with no prior warnings.

**** Vermeil was always my joke porn name and was my first fbg name. Then some a hole arrived on this board with a user name the same as the famous sports doc and was dolling out advice in the shark pool. He called me out when everyone shouted him down. Bing bang boom Joe made me change my name. Really sidetracked my porn career.
You should have lobbied for "**** Fan."

High school/college nick name born of SNL Rob Schneider skit... Fumblia, Fumbleruski!

I'm Canadian, and wanted to give homage to my roots without being too over-the-top about it (is that too Canadian?)

So used the name and image of a country/folk singer that I imagine no one on this board (except for or maybe even including other Canucks) has ever heard of.

It's been my only name on these boards since Ol' Yeller -- count me as another guy whose never used an "alias" either.

Me either, since ol’ yeller.

Though my avatar used to be a Matisse “Icarus” image but changed it to “target” image when avatars went round just cuz I didn’t like the way it cropped my Matisse image and I like how easy it is to see my new avatar when scrolling through a thread.

So funny, a Canadian Facebook friend just posted a song of his called My Stompin Grounds in honor of tomorrows national birthday. Never heard of him before your post and now I see his name again.
