FAAB DISCUSSION- Post your FAAB discussion and results here (1 Viewer)

This is our first year and first week of FAAB so we're still getting the hang of it. Offers were very low.
Not player related, but in my first year of FAAB last year, offers were also very low throughout the year and I wound up overbidding at times. Every league is obviously different, but to avoid overbidding, keep in mind that most owners tend to be conservative with new rules.
Yes I was the winner of Puka Nacua at $21 and the next bid was $6 so I definitely overbid but feel like $21 was reasonable. I still have $68 in FAAB and based on this week's bids I should be good.

Puka was taken in all my leagues, but here is a couple notables for this week:

J. Kelly (241, 77, 104)
Shaheed (126, Not available in other 2 leagues)
K. Williams (124, 47, 113)
Purdy (99, Not available in other 2 leagues)
G. Edwards (41, waivers)
J. Hill (30, 12, 25)
Bourne (13, 0, waivers)
Atwell (11, FCFS after BB, 48)

out of 200 annually, but can carry over year to year.

out of 100, in my 12 team where I lost JK and wanted RB help

Kyren 22
Justice Hill 11
Zack Moss, free after waivers ran

I feel these are all at least RB3s right?

Kyren probably has the most potential longer term. Hill may be in RBBC purgatory, whether it's Gus alone, or adding Gordon and Mitchell to the fold. Moss might be a decent play for a week or two, but how much is he going to get with Richardson back there.

10-team auction Superflex PPR, 4 keepers per team. $100 FAAB budget.

Kyren $28 (me)
Allgeier $26 (me)
Mostert $16
Kelley $7
Z. Jones $6
R. Woods $6
Shaheed $4

Puka, Gainwell and R. Rice were drafted.

I have Kupp but decent depth at WR. Was more concerned about having to play my RB2 K. Herbert and/or my RB3 Pacheco every week.

I have always believed in being aggressive on FAAB in Week 1 if you think someone will make a difference.

The guy who got Zay Jones cut Toney in order to pick him up.
Im surprised Kelley only went for $7 seeing as Eckler will mis multiple weeks
Where did you hear this? He missed yesterday for a funeral but I haven't seen anything about him being ruled out for this week, let alone multiple weeks.

FFPC Dynasty BB

09/13 09:23 PM (WED)Justice Hill, RB (BAL)$953.00

He was Dobbins owner, and I think Hill is an excellent pickup, but Yowser thats a lot!

The upside is in questions but I think anytime you lose a starting RB and can pick up what may very well be 3 RB's who will lead their team in fantasy points for the ROS for 33% of your fantasy budget you did good work.

I keep a spreadsheet of every FAAB offer throughout the year. Doesn't help you much the first year of FAAB, but it gives you an idea of how people play things next year.

I’ve done similar things years ago to track tendencies of other owners. Notably I kept a multi-year database on how much other owners would spend on positions at an auction draft or what positions were drafted by round of a traditional draft. That allowed me to have a better sense of “market” for players so I could be just a little ahead of the action. That said, was a huge pain in the rear to track all that stuff and the benefit is minor. Personally I think there are a bunch of little edges available in FF if you work at it. But it’s probably only going to improve a long term winning percentage 1-3% tops. I wish it was more. Regardless, I like it.

$100 Budget Short bench league:

Ford - $82
H Henry - $11
Breida - $20
Nico - $20

Same owner dropped 93 of his $100 budget on the first two and second two were by the same owner - Both owners are out of FAAB and its week 3 (second owner spent 20 on a kicker last week).

Some monstrous bids for Ford abound. In my league, someone got lucky last week getting him for 8% (I lost at 5%) when he was just a mere handcuff.

I think you have to take that big chance on Ford given that potential FA opportunities don’t come around very often. But man, if Ford winds up sharing a lot and/or just isn’t that good, that’s going to be a killer for future FAAB opportunities.

That's why they call it gambling.

In 3 relatively deep (12 team, with 7 bench and 3 IR) these were the winning bids (in percentages of FAAB)

Jerome Ford (RB, CLE) already owned in all leagues
Matt Breida (RB, NYG) 20-25 in two leagues, 10-15 in 3rd
Craig Reynolds (RB, DET) 25-30 in one league, 10-15 in a 2nd, 1-5 in 3rd
Tank Dell (WR, HOU) 25-30 in one league, 10-15 in a 2nd, 5-10 in 3rd
Kareem Hunt (RB, FA) ~15
Josh Reynolds (WR, DET) ~10
Robert Woods and Lat Murray both got high single digit winning bids in at least one league

Agreed - and this is one of the biggest gambles we’ve probably had across most leagues in some time. Not the drips and drabs that usually permeate.

I put in 72% of my FAAB (all remaining dollars after my post-week 1 adds) and someone bid 98% of FAAB on Jerome Ford.

These are the situations you hold money for - there are 2 types of people, those that spend the money after week 1 and those that hold for a major injury. Sadly, sometimes... I wish I could be both.
I went in and grabbed Kendre Miller for free after waivers ran... any chance this guy has all the smoke and Kamara takes a backseat? Anyone with boots on the ground at the French Quarter willing to tell me what's being said about Miller?

I'm not a saints fan but I have been monitoring Miller as a Kamara owner. At best for now he can become the handcuff with J Williams banged up now. But he is coming off of injury himself. Kamara is presumably 100% healthy and ready to go week 4. I don't think Miller will be stepping over Kamara. It would take an injury.

$100 FAAB budget with $0 bids allowed

Jerome Ford $72 ($40 bid was not successful)
Brandon Johnson $10
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Def $3
Brandon Aubrey $2
Kylen Granson $2
Colts Def $2
Logan Thomas $0
Tutu Atwell $0
wow, tutu for 0 seems crazy.

I was surprised with that one also - I’m deep at WR and didn’t need Atwell on my team but it’s a keep away strategy that I am using with that transaction.

I put in 2/100 for Kareem Hunt, 9/100 for Craig Reynolds, and 7/100 for Kansas City D and Taysom Hill. 16-team standard league w/ double flex (WR/TE and WR/RB/TE).

Craig Reynolds Det - RB
Team 1 - $9 Winning Offer

Team 2 - $8 (Lower Offer)
Me - $3 (Lower Offer)

I thought the Lions might activate Zonovan Knight so I kinda lowballed the bid

Matt Brieda NYG - RB
Team 1 - $10 Winning Offer

Team 2 - $10 (Lower priority)
Team 3 - $6 (Lower Offer)
Team 4 - $4 (Lower Offer)

Didn't place a bid

Taysom Hill NO - "QB"
Team 1 - $7 Winning Offer

me - $4 (Lower Offer)
Team 3 - $1 (Lower Offer)

I'm a degenerate for making a bid. I deserve this.

Kansas City - D
Team 1 - $7 Winning Offer

me - $7 (Lower Priority)
Team 3 - $6 (Lower Offer)
Team 4 - $3 (Lower Offer)
Team 5 - $3 (Lower Offer)
Team 6 - $1 (Lower Offer)
Team 7 - $1 (Lower Offer)

The same guy who won Hlll beat me on KC D... which didn't make sense since it's FAAB w/ continuous rolling tiebreak. Unless Yahoo displays the order incorrectly, once he won Hill he should have went back to 16... also, Tony Jones Jr. wasn't even bid on, got him free after waivers.

In a local 10-team PPR league, a guy dropped Swift last Thurs morn to bid big on Kyren.

Is Swift worth roughly 70%…similar to Ford?

Ford went for $75

That was the only really significant bid. One guy did bid $27 on Brieda out of desperation for a RB for this week, but that was just stupidity

In one league I got Achane for $61 (next highest only $26), Quentin for $3 (no other bids), and Stroud for Stroud for $3 (no other bids) so I overpaid across the board lol. In that league Palmer went for $11. In my other league Achane went for $70 (next highest was me at $52), Palmer went for $16 ($5 next highest). I got Quentin for $2 with no other bids.

Most of the hot pickups were drafted/rostered.

Joshua Palmer went to the Mike Williams owner for $40 (next highest bid was $10.)

CJ Stroud went for $19 with no other bids. Dude now also holds LJax, Geno, Stafford ($6 last week, no other bids) in a 1-QB league. Guess he’s trying to create positional scarcity lolololol. GLWT

Thielen (dropped last week before kick) went for 45% of budget.

Granted it was to a team that was desperate at the WR position, but that’s a lot.

Other notables in a superflex league.

Zeke 3.8%
Winston 2.7%
Dalton 0%
McKinnon 6.9%
Palmer 23%
J Williams 0%

12-team, $100 FAAB: Achane went for $81 (next highest only $33), Quentin for $3 (no other bids), Tank (Dude-you're-getting-a) Dell went for $26 (next highest was me at $22), Palmer went for $3 ($1 next highest).

So Palmer went somewhere between $11 and infinity? ..... a little more specivicity por favor.

Those charger bids were amazingly low. Interesting .

for $40

McLaurin, Breida, Dotson and Atwell were dumped overnight. I own Barkley, Kupp and Mike Williams so aggressively going after Mclaurin.

I put in 24/100 for Joshua Palmer, $5 for Justice Hill (got dropped after he got hurt?) and $1 for Julian Hill. 16-team standard league w/ double flex (WR/TE and WR/RB/TE).

Joshua Palmer LAC - WR
Team 1 - $31 Winning Offer

Team 2 - $29 (Lower Offer)
Team 3 - $29 (Lower Offer)
Me - $24 (Lower Offer)
Team 5 - $21 (Lower Offer)
Team 6 - $13 (Lower Offer)
Team 7 - $11 (Lower Offer)
Team 8 - $10 (Lower Offer)
Team 9 - $7 (Lower Offer)
Team 10 - $0 (Lower Offer)

... pain ...

Justice Hill BAL - RB
Team 1 - $12 Winning Offer

Team 2 - $6 (Lower Offer)
Me - $5 (Lower Offer)
Team 4 - $0 (Lower Offer)

I should have put $13 (half his last price). Dunno why I thought he'd sneak through to me. This league has no issues overpaying at RB

D.J. Chark CAR - WR
Team 1 - $23 Winning Offer

Team 2 - $7 (Lower Offer)
Team 3 - $3 (Lower Offer)
Team 4 - $3 (Lower Offer)

C.J. Stroud Hou - QB
Team 1 - $7 Winning Offer

Team 2 - $7 (Lower waiver priority)
Team 3 - $0 (Lower Offer)

There were other bids but nothing too eye-catching. At least I got Julian Hill!
