Game Thread W9 - Dallas at Philly (1 Viewer)

10-6, Philly's getting the ball to start the half.

All things considering a solid 1st half. You correct the penalties and do about the same thing in terms of keeping pressure on McNabb and don't turn the ball over, they will win.

Yup, but we need to run the ball better and neutralize their blitzing.

It feels like Dallas has dominated but it's 7-6 and getting dangerous. The offense needs to put together a drive. Also getting nervous about Austin having a big fat 0 as atleast from what I can see on TV he isn't getting bracketed.
Is Romo trying to placate Roy? What's going on with Austin - their BEST playmaker - getting one look? Is he being shut down or what?

Austin has had 3-4 looks but the best opportunity Romo threw it too high the rest were covered. They are using Ogletree on WR screens instead of Austin to offset the blitz happy defense.

Gotcha. Thanks--Any hope for Austin second half? I guess Austin's success depends on Romo having time, right? Also was there a Dallas oline injury?

Dallas 9-26 rushing in the first half vs. 12/22-188-0 passing. The 2 minute drill skewed the numbers a bit but the team needs to figure out how to run better in the 2nd half.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but it's entirely possible that Austin isn't their best playmaker.

same play twice in a rowshould have been PI
Same play they jammed into Champ Bailey from the same spot with the same results, and again it's into the face of the #1 corner and Romo doesn't look anywhere else. He choked inside the five, guys. That is on him. He has options but just gets all tight, stares down that slant and fires a rocket into coverage. They should just pull that play from the redzone package. The predictability of the offense is strange. I'd like to see them use screens to Felix to attack the blitz in the second half. Pretty pleased with the D not giving up a TD for two quarters. Pretty pleased overall.

That Philly penalty call was worth every single call Dallas had in the 1st half. I guess it was a hold because the guy did wrap up around the Dallas guy and pull him down but it happend so earlier in the play, the Dallas guy got up and continued on. Bad break for Philly.

Hello! My name is Donovan McNabb. I often go entire games forgetting I have one of the most explosive play makers in the game at my disposal. Instead of attempting to utilize him, I get caught up a quagmire of short passes that lead my team valiantly towards an eventual punt. Perhaps if I throw all day to my backup RB and TE, we'll get a few FGs out of this deal.

First, I should qualify - best WR playmaker. And I don't think that's debatable.

Wasted challenge Wade.Bad play by Newman on the TD.
Ya, Dallas has come out with their head up their butt. They gave up a TD on special teams and then let up a TD drive. They should get solid field position, 40ish yard line because of the 15 yard penalty. Hopefully we can get down and get some points to at least tie this thing back up and move on from there.

i wish they would change that rule...it's pretty ### backwards all things considered - and it is the complete opposite of every single other rule that deals with crossing a plane/out of bounds, etc.

The correct call was made.

With that said, I don't like that rule. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that the entire has to cross the line of scrimmage. To me it's all about the ball as far as making sense. The ball starts on that line and if the ball crosses that line of scrimmage before it's thrown, to me that's crossing the line. Obviously that's not the rule but it's a rule that has changed so it's not like there's not a difference of opinion out there on it, I don't like it this way.

It's not exactly a confidence builder when a pretty routine pass clanks off of one of the most explosive players helmets and leads to an interception. Celek and McCoy are safe, steady options. I've watched McNabb play enough to know the guy isn't gun shy at all... if he sees a legit shot, he'll take it.Edit: This is coming from a McNabb owner that's down 10 pts right now on CBS, so I feel your pain... but patience is a virtue.Edit2: Asante Samuel is an idiot.
