Game Thread W9 - Dallas at Philly (1 Viewer)

Hello! My name is Donovan McNabb. I often go entire games forgetting I have one of the most explosive play makers in the game at my disposal. Instead of attempting to utilize him, I get caught up a quagmire of short passes that lead my team valiantly towards an eventual punt. Perhaps if I throw all day to my backup RB and TE, we'll get a few FGs out of this deal.
It's not exactly a confidence builder when a pretty routine pass clanks off of one of the most explosive players helmets and leads to an interception. Celek and McCoy are safe, steady options. I've watched McNabb play enough to know the guy isn't gun shy at all... if he sees a legit shot, he'll take it.Edit: This is coming from a McNabb owner that's down 10 pts right now on CBS, so I feel your pain... but patience is a virtue.
Yeah, you are probably right. I'm done with DeSean. He is not a stud receiver. He's an average receiver with great speed who can make big plays now and then. 3-4 receptions a game doesn't cut it, though. He's a WR3 at best. At this point, Maclin > Jackson.

Not much to say, a bad throw caused by the blitz, you can't force it in there. Thank goodness for the penalty on the return to force poor field position.

We need the Dallas D to step up this last quarter and a half and win this freaken game for us!!!!!

I feel this one slipping away a bit ... offense can't stay on the field. That pick was on Romo ... bad throw and bad read. Witten could have given more effort but not much he could have done.

Wasted timeout for Philly, I guess they're both even in that department this half now.

So far Philly making better adjustments in the 2nd half, more so offensively. They're moving McNabb around a bit creating some more time for him since he was getting pressured early and they're also using the screen.

Dallas cannot counter by sitting back and letting McNabb throw the ball, it will leave too much time for their speedy receivers to get open.

Theres ROMO
I don't put that one on him.
Agreed, not all of it. Witten was covered.Oh and penalty # 6.
I don't get it. He threw a bad pass high and behind into double coverage and it was a very simple pick for Brown. How is any part of that not Romo's fault. He shouldn't be forcing the ball to a TE covered by Sheldon Brown. That's a no brainer. Choke Romo.
He wasn't covered by Sheldon Brown... he was covered by Akeem Jordan... the ball was overthrown and the player that Brown was covering was running a deeper route, since the pass was overthrown... brown was there to make the play.

That is just silly.

It wasn't ALL Romo- but not a great play.

Fine, it's still a bad decision and a bad pass by the QB. No blame to spread around.

I'm glad he challenged just because I'm not even sure what the real rule is here. I mean, I could see the ball moved back a yard, the guy never got touched until he was down a yard or so back.

Ya, he caught the ball over the line but he wasn't touched, his own momentum carried him back and the Dallas got touched him down a good yard before the line of scrimmage.

Good challenge though because at the very least, you get all this time to think about what play you're going to call on 4th and inches.

How so?

I thought coaches had people up in the booth telling them when it was and was not worth challenging? Then how do they constantly waste timeouts and challenges on stuff that's clearly not going to be overturned? Or is it just them being so arrogant and stubborn that they think they know better anyway?

The real question here is how the heck is throwing an INT with 9 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter a "choke"?If that's the case, Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, et all are all just gigantic chokers.Seriously, the way people reach and pull for reasons to scream "choke" with this guy is freaking hilarious. Many of them could be applied to even the most clutch quarterbacks in the league.

Philly needs to take some lessons from Seattle on how to get the first down via an offsides there. Newsflash guys, when the defensive lineman right in front of you jumps, just move so they blow the whistle.

As usual in the NFC EAST, tough game and some odd plays and calls. Both teams are actually committing some big penalties in this game, definately not the cleanest game I've seen played this year.

What a dumb play by Samuel.
To address that unsportsmanlike penalty, it looked like Samuel was just doing good-natured trash-talking. He was grinning from ear to ear when Barber got up and it looked Barber was just having fun with it, too, but the refs probably couldn't tell that initially, so they threw the flag, thinking he was taunting.

Fine. It wasn't worthy of being called a choke and I have an issue with him choking. Agreed. But, Cowboy fans constantly defending him is part of my issue. That pick, not a choke, was on him alone and completely unnecesary. Other QBs do the same.

Fair enough. Btw, I'm not a Cowboy fan and yes, that pick was all on Romo.
