No, but...I'm still old school. I just like physical.why physical media for this one? You really gonna trade Skyrim in while it's worth anything?

This is what I read. Though it sounds like it's a whole new install too. It won't overwrite your old one. And you can grab an old saved game to use in the new one only if it is unmodded.I thought this was a free upgrade? At least it is on Steam if you have all the DLC. Is it not free for console hrs copy folks?
There's a Destruction perk that staggers people. It's the best mage perk since it lets you backpedal and keep enemies at a distance.Going with a mage for the first time ever in this series. Any tips or suggestions??
Yea, you have to get that asap, for sure. There's a Destruction perk that staggers people. It's the best mage perk since it lets you backpedal and keep enemies at a distance.
So you have to start from lvl 1 if your game was modded? This is what I read. Though it sounds like it's a whole new install too. It won't overwrite your old one. And you can grab an old saved game to use in the new one only if it is unmodded.
You can spam Alteration (get gear that helps first) by using Detect Life in a packed area. I usually do it in Riften. You can max it out pretty quickly and throw perks into other areas fairly early on.Going with a mage for the first time ever in this series. Any tips or suggestions??
Just spotted it in my library. Thanks for the reminder.I thought this was a free upgrade? At least it is on Steam if you have all the DLC. Is it not free for console hrs copy folks?
What's the name of it?I'm preloaded on XB1.
Yea, different approach - first mod will be the one that allows a different beginning / backstory.
I might do this too. But playing a sneaky archer is so much fun.Going with a mage for the first time ever in this series. Any tips or suggestions??
Destruction magic my man. Fire, Ice and lighting. It's bad ###.Going with a mage for the first time ever in this series. Any tips or suggestions??
My favorite mage to play is a sorcerer build. I get tired of just standing back casting spells. Sometimes it's fun go spell in one hand, sword in the other, in your face. Two examples to spin off of to suit your play style.Buddy Ball 2K3 said:Going with a mage for the first time ever in this series. Any tips or suggestions??
Alternate start - live another life. You skip the whole Helgan thing, and get a different starting area that you can choose. You can start as a new member of any of the guilds (you'll start at the end of the "initial" quest). a criminal, an owner of property, shipwrecked, a vampire, etc. Good for roleplaying.JerseyToughGuys said:What's the name of it?
Lets say I go home and pick this up on the way (or DL for the new kids), how do I check out these mods you are talking about. Then how would I add them

Skyrim: Special Edition brings mods to console players at last. Unfortunately, it’s not super obvious how you actually get them, and Googling just generates a stack of headlines rather than anything useful.
Don’t worry, cats: I have wrestled the Internet into submission and figured out how you actually get console mods for Skyrim: Special Edition. All you have to do is visit the Skyrim mods section of Bethesda.net and set a filter for your platform of choice.
Once you’ve found a mod you like (and any it depends on), you can click the “add to library” button to kick off the process of making it available in Skyrim: Special Edition on your console. You’ll need a Bethesda.net ID linked to your console ID to complete the process.
At time of writing there are 25 Skyrim: Special Edition mods for PS4, but 90+ for Xbox One.
The reason for the discrepancy is that Skyrim: Special Edition mod support is different on the two platforms – PS4 mods can’t use external assets, so that limits what creators are able to do. That’s why you only get 1GB for Skyrim mods on PS4, but 5GB on Xbox One.
This a bit disappointing for PS4 users but we should probably accept the compromise Bethesda and Sony settled on, since for a while there it looked like there would be no mod support on PS4 at all for Skyrim: Special Edition and Fallout 4.
Skyrim: Special Edition launches on Friday, but the demand for mods is already high – probably because console players have been gazing at the scene with longing for like, decades.
Expect both Skyrim: Special Edition mod lists to populate markedly over the next few weeks as mod authors bring the goods.
You can also just do it right from the game's menu - besides, load / save / settings / etc, there will be a "mods" option. Choose that, and start browsing. The ones you choose to download automatically become downloaded and active. If you read the descriptions of them, some may tell you where in the load order they need to be (which, if you look on the bottom of the screen, there's a load order option.)Lets say I go home and pick this up on the way (or DL for the new kids), how do I check out these mods you are talking about. Say goodbye to family and friends for the next few months? So played all the fallouts butto admit I never played any of these. Think I bought a heavily discounted version or a free games with gold download of Skyrim on 360 and never had time to play it. Any pro-tips on what to do if I buy the SE?
Don't expect much in terms of mods for the PS4. From the reddit:Sorry if it's been mentioned, but is there a list of the mods that will be available for PS4 (with the description)? I understand the list is going to be limited compared to XB1, but IMO it's more about the quality of the mods available than the quantity since many of the mods I have read about don't really interest me. I am really leaning towards getting the PS4 because it has by far the best baseball game available while XB1 has nothing good for baseball. However, other factors for me include when/if Gran Tourismo ever comes out (Forza is a very appealing game, but GT would balance that out) and the difference in quality between the consoles for Skyrim, which is probably my favorite game of all time.
Thanks! This is disappointing since it seems like the only mods that will be available are the ones I don't care about. It's going to be tough for me to decide between baseball and a more meh version of Skyrim and no Forza vs. no baseball but better Skyrim and better racing games available. I was hoping Sony would make the choice easy but that was wishful thinking.Don't expect much in terms of mods for the PS4. From the reddit:
Mods on PS4 can only be in the form of an an esp file. No assets whatsoever (even scripts which don't have any problem with the file format). Assets include scripts, textures, meshes, and sound files.
So. Mods that add new types, or drastically alter existing gameplay? No deal. Those require scripts. Quest mods? No go, those require scripts (except for the absolutely simplest of mods, like "go fetch this sword." Anything cool requires scripts for various stages). New characters? No go. Creating a character in the game generates facegen data which consists of a nif and texture file. While it is possible to put a character into the game without including these files, their face will just be completely black. No new weapons or armor. No retextures or graphics mods.
Here's the closest thing to a list of potential PS4 mods.

Keep in mind the Xbox is limited in many ways too in terms of mod support. You can only have 5 gb of mods installed which is not a lot, they also do not allow any mod that uses external code which is also limiting. SKSE mods, which account for a large number of popular mods for example, cant be used on Xbox or PS4. So when deciding between a PS$ and Xbox, dont assume xBox will have the full mod support the PC has.I might have to do that.
Depends on the mod, but I think most should be ok installing whenever outside of the big overhaul mods. The bigger issue is trying to remove a mod on an existing save.Need to read up on the mods but before I do:
can you add them at any time or do you need to start a whole new game if you add one?
I never had the patience for the stealthy types. I usually go one handed, but debating between mage or being the two handed tank...decisions.Still don't know how to play this run. Feeling the urge to do the overplayed assasin again.
Annnnnnd the game won't load. Guess I did one too manyOn Xbox just downloaded these to start:
alt start
unofficial patch
open cities
relationship dialogue overhaul
rich merchants (this feels like a cheat though)
arc Metallica crafting
Female body replaced![]()
Forgotten city
Fwiw deleting the unofficial patch and the forgotten city solved the issue. Bet it was the patch.Annnnnnd the game won't load. Guess I did one too many![]()

I agree the unofficial patch is more important.GregR said:I'd have guessed Open Cities and something else combining to be the problem.
You really do want the Unofficial Patch. It fixes most of those bugs that Bethesda never took the time to fix.
ETA: To expand on that, Open Cities was originally very buggy and caused a lot of crashes. Though they worked those out mostly over time, the new version could be back to having issues. And it frequently conflicts with mods that make changes to cities. I've not used it for those reasons though I like the concept.
