My middle one (11, 6th grade, 6-8 middle school) doesn’t want to do school soccer even though it’s his favorite sport. Plays for city rec league and practice and seasons overlap but he could likely do both
Little disappointed and I don’t want to push him, but feel like something deeper is keeping him from it. He dropped school swim after 1st meet, but we did kind of force him to join since older bro on team. I think he genuinely didn’t like it, but I also get the impression that he’s worried about failing on a bigger stager. He’s always been kind of shy, but also the type to take over a room if he’s comfortable. He’s probably the best kid on his rec league and embraces it , but with other sports baseball, swim, etc he’s more middle of the pack and I feel like it makes him shy away
Anyway TL

r my kid doesn’t want to play for school soccer team even though he’s good at it and it’s his favorite sport. Don’t want to push him but feel like he’s missing a good opportunity to play and bond with future HS teammates. I guess as long as he stays involved in something I should just let him choose
