I've got an extra one... think I should sell it on eBay and just wait until more become available elsewhere to grab another? Could probably turn a quick $40 profit...
do it.
Done.
86 Page Views in the first 15 minutes.
How much did you list yours at? I actually just sold mine for $80 within 1 day. Can't believe someone paid that...unfortunately the guy is in India and I ain't shipping there so we'll see how this goes.
$74.99 + Shipping
SOLD! Guess I should have charged more...
That was easy ;)

i might sell mine too. I took it out the box, but haven't even set it up b/c my router wasn't configured correctly. Already have a roku, and i can wait on this if i need to

Dear Amazon.com Customer,

Thank you for your recent Chromecast purchase. Earlier today, you received an email indicating an incorrect estimated order delivery of late October. We are actively fulfilling orders weekly based on customer order date and all customers who placed orders prior to August 7 should receive their orders in the coming weeks and into mid-September. We will notify you as soon as your item ships and apologize for the confusion.
What a Charlie Foxtrot.

Ordered the day they were available on Amazon. Received it last week but did not crack open the box yet. Still waiting on my Netflix code...

My order from the Google Store came today. Took about 5 mins to set-up, other than it not seeming to like the power from the USB port on my TV there were no issues. Netflix and YouTube look terrific, tab casting obviously not as crisp but not bad either. It would be nice to have the tabcasting available from my iPad but imagine that will happen soon. It's a nifty little piece of tech.

Already got our money's worth. 3 months free, plus another month free for signing up for Netflix. Got this thing nearly for free. Wife and I started Breaking Bad -- great show. Clocking two episodes per night now, probably more this weekend.

does anyone think the extender dongle thing does anything at all?
I think the purpose for it would be if your hdmi connection is in the back of your TV and it's close to the wall. This way you could hang the device down instead of straight out. If I use it on my office TV, that will come in handy.

ah, gotcha. The manual said it was to make reception better. I can see what you are saying about this.

Oh, I didn't even read that. Maybe there is more to it.

The HDMI extender is solely to allow you to connect to an HDMI port that maybe the Chromecast couldn't fit into on its own due to its form factor. Some TVs have tight fits for their HDMI ports and since Chromecast is obviously wider and bulkier than the connector of an HDMI cable, it could have issues.

The better reception is more of an afterthought, but has more to do with getting separation from the TV which generates its own EMI and could interfere with the Chromecast's built-in Wi-Fi antenna. The extender itself has nothing inside to improve reception.

Chromecast requires a display device that has an HDMI input, which is common in newer TVs. HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. Inside the Chromecast box, you will find an HDMI extender which is not required for use with Chromecast, but can be used if your Chromecast does not fit directly into your TV. It may also be used to improve your Wi-Fi reception. The HDMI extender should be connected to your TV and your Chromecast.

Good thing they added that last sentence...

Correct. I read that as well (actually, the same link). But "It may also be used to improve your Wi-Fi reception" has to do with the separation from potential EMI from the TV. The Chomecast antenna is self-contained within the device.

But it can improve reception correct? I am not currently using it and will have to try it out to see if it helps.

Of course. Moving an antenna away from EMI can definitely help. My comment was more on the reason it could help. I don't want others to read into Google's sentence that there's an antenna extender in the cable or some other similar assumption.

So saw on BestBuy's website that there were some in at the local store for pickup only (couldn't even order online). Local store didn't have any (said it was an inventory mistake, my guess is they only got one in and an employee purchased it), but they said another BestBuy not too far away had a dozen of them. Went there, they had 4 left, got 2 (limit 2 per purchase), the other 2 sold between the time I walked the 2 I got to the car and walked back in to see if they were still there. Figured I'd put the extra's on eBay and pay for the one I wanted. They did come with the free Netflix code.

So long story short, I have 2 now, and Best Buy is slowly moving inventory around or shipping them out from their factory, not sure. But all the Best Buy ones still have the Netflix promotion, according to the guys there. So if you are looking for one, keep an eye on the Best Buy page that shows local inventory, I even saw it pop up for sale online last Sunday but by the time I put it in my cart it sold out again.

So, anyone know if you can apply 2 Netflix codes to a single account (guessing no)?

Wife and I are nearly through season 2 of Breaking Bad all via Chromecast. We've gotten our money's worth already, and can't wait for the rest of it.

Got mine set up last night and was able to stream Netflix from the ipad with very good quality. The sound got unsynced a couple of times but only for a second or two. I could not figure out how to stream from chrome on the ipad though... is this possible? Checked to make sure I didn't have any needed chrome updates, so that's not the issue.

We're trying out taking ours on vacation. Will report in on how successful we are getting it to work on a hotel TV. I'm skeptical about getting it to work through wifi, but if I have a decent LTE connection I should at least be able to work it through my mobile hotspot.

Nope, tabcasting isn't working yet on iOS devices.

I uploaded some movies to google drive and they played over the chromecast rather well. I just ordered a 2nd one of these things, loving it!

One thing I dont like about it and maybe someone in here knows the answer. Can you disable the bright white light on it? I had this hooked up to the back of the TV in our bedroom but the wife made me unplug it every night before we fell asleep.

Finally hooked mine up yesterday. Ridiculously easy. Took all of 10 minutes...about 2 of actual effort. Streamed the Steelers game to it last night since it wasn't being shown locally.

sorry I missed this before. I wouldn't call it decent really as with Chrome it was full of popups (but never had that with FF and adblock) but firstrowsports.eu is the place I used.

cast plus game stream on my "old" (previous gen i5) laptop really chews up cpu cycles. was at 95% a lot of the time last night.

Has anyone had success with casting from the dishanywhere site? I can cast all of the menu items but the part of the dishanywhere screen that the video displays on doesn't cast to the device.

Tried this for the Georgia/South Carolina game. Quality seems pretty poor.

Hooked this up today and was able to stream from my laptop and smartphone, but not my desktop PC (which should be the least obsolete of the three devices). I got the "Device Not Found" window with my desktop PC. What gives?
