-Coughlin confirmed WR Hakeem Nicks has a bone bruise (no ligament damage) and said Nicks is "making pretty good progress." Coughlin wouldn’t speculate whether Nicks will play on Monday, but rumblings right now are he’ll be ready to go. He won’t practice today, however.

four days ago headline Nicks plans on playing in Giants game

“I was never really worried because I looked at is as I finished the game,’’ Nicks said. “It’s a situation where it’s a little bone bruise, take it day to day, I feel way better than I did yesterday so if I keep going up I don’t see myself missing no time. Once you start worrying that’s when stuff is wrong so I just keep a cool head the whole time. Everything came back good, it’s a blessing.’’

Nicks did not practice, but it was a positive sign that Nicks on Wednesday was able to do some jogging drills off on a side field in the early stages of practice, making some soft cuts. Coughlin said Nicks is day to day and the Giants are fortunate they have an extra day this week.

“If it keeps feeling the way it’s going the end of the week,’’ Nicks said of a return to practice. “Every day’s been way better, swelling has gone down every day. No pain. Just a matter of the fluid and the swelling. It keeps going like this we’re heading in the right direction. Now is not the time to be going down.’’

leads up to yesterday

Hakeem Nicks is confident that the will play Monday night against the Rams and that his knee injury will not be an issue.

The Giants' top wide receiver did not participate in the team portion of practice today but did work in individuals and looked fine. He even made a toe-tapping catch in the corner of the end zone and showed no ill effects.

Nicks said that he is making progress and responding well to treatment.

"I'll be on the field," Nicks said of Monday's game.

Nicks said sitting out the team portion of practice today was just a precautionary measure.

"They decided they’re not going to let me jump out there yet," he said. "They want me to get a full week of healing underneath my belt but I still look forward to playing Monday night."

Nicks felt normal during the work he did today, saying he does not need a full week of practice to be ready.

"I feel like I got the offense down pretty good so it’s a matter of making sure I got my wind up during the week and going out there and performing," Nicks said.

Rotowire :

The Giants believe Nicks (knee) will be able to play Monday, sources in the Giants organization told Charley Casserly on CBS' The NFL Today.

Spin: Nicks (knee) was a limited participant in practice Saturday and will be a game-time decision, but this report adds to the feeling he has a good chance to play.

The Giants are adamant that Nicks' availability will not be determined until the medical staff watches him perform in pre-game warmups.Educated guess says it is not Nicks choice. :banned:

Did U mean NO TD's to Nicks?

Can't believe I'm in this situation to be honest...

My league uses decimal scoring. My opponent is done for the week and I have Nicks left (also picked up Hixon on the bench). I'm down by literally .1 which equates to 10 yards rushing/receiving. It's ppr so obviously once catch would do the trick as well.

I know it seems like Nicks is gonna play but I'm gonna shoot myself if that questionable tag somehow precludes him from making that one catch.

You didn't have a backup plan going into the week  . If thats the case, you deserve to lose.

That scoring setup is terrible...100 yards = 1 point? while 1 catch also = 1 point?
