Cheadle + Showtime + Jean-Ralphio, so it's worth a look.

Pilot was decent, but nothing special. It'll take some convincing to make me believe it's anything more than a homeless man's "Californication".

As always, Showtime loads it up with hot women and their boobies, so even it's not great, it'll have that going for it.

Anybody else caught the pilot yet?

Thought it was entertaining primarily because of the actors involved more so than the script or characters. There didn't seem to be anything fresh. Lead character is smarmy but conflicted because he seems to want to be a good guy. Hot chick who may or may not bang him. Since it's Showtime, lots and lots of sex, including some girl-girl bathroom action and Kristen Bell getting a lapdance. What saves it for me is Cheadle - who I think is one of the five best actors working today and can do no wrong; I've been a huge fan since his "Picket Fences" days - and Bell, who makes me all gooey inside. I'll watch anything they're in separately. Together and I'm in for the duration.

I was listening to the Sepinwall podcast and he brought up one potential problem of this show - basically the Studio 60 problem.

Don Cheadle is supposed to be this genius consultant - but the ideas he eventually comes up with are ... less than brilliant.

Having said that - I thought the first episode was a fine setup and will watch a few more episodes.

Been catching up on the tivo and I enjoyed the first few eps. The last couple got a little less then great. Still got 2 more to get all caught up but I am hooked. The Ex Wife is fun, the women are good and naked, cheadle is hilarious and I like Kristen Bell. Good piece of smut to watch with Californication and Shameless

Its just not as fun. The "bad guy" is annoying with predictible double talk. The crew isn't coming up with off the wall consulting results. Its notably darker. No one squirted in the ladies room. Less boobs. Etc.
