How do you select starters (1 Viewer)

I find FBG CheatSheets helpful when trying to decide who to start and who to bench on any given week. I know that nobody can predict the future and this is why fantasy is a lot of fun. However I find that following the cheatsheet often leaves me benching someone I should have played

I also try to look at SoS, depth charts and of course NFL injury reports when I am making a decision.

Are there resources or techniques some of you use when making game day decisions? Do you have any insight when considering what FBG says, especially if two players are closely ranked on a given week?

Thanks!

I also use the FBG cheatsheets. (The MyFBG feature here ROCKS!) On my Yahoo league I'll also take into consideration their predictions and the percentage of onwers that are starting the same players.

If players are really close I might start one that I'm facing in another league so it's not as painful if he does well against me. For example, I was debating between Harvin and Lloyd, but my opponent in another league has Lloyd, so I'm most likely going to go with him. But then in that league, I was debating between Harvin, Clayton, and Floyd. Since I'm benching Harvin in one league, I might start him in the other...

I'll also lean towards guys playing later games if they're really close otherwise.

BTW Sorry if this should have been in the Assistant Coach forum- I clicked from the FBG Main Page into this forum. I am about as fast with these forums as the Bills' Defense!!

Thanks for the advice- good points.

As dumb as this is, when I need to make WW picks, for CB's, S's DT, LB's I will pick guys off the WW that play on Monday night

But generally, I play in 16 team leagues, not many teams have THAT much depth to have a hard time.

Do you bench Calvin Johnson against a tough GB D, or do I start Steve Johnson.

Yeah, cheatsheets are good and give you a reference and might make you notice someone on your bench who is high on the list because of a matchup or injury. However, the other methods I don't really buy into.

If you start someone you play in another league just because it wont be painful if they do well then you run the risk of the direct opposite..they don't do well for you and it wouldn't have mattered if he was against you in another league.

You should use the resources available to you but also use your own gut feelings. Certain players will always be ranked high on the lists based upon their historical success no matter what their matchup is.

In the end you put in who you think will score the most points, regardless of anything else. When they play or if they are in another league against you shouldn't matter at all..

That's what I would do if I was always right...

I use my laptop touchpad to click the box in MFL so it puts a little check mark in the box. Then I click the submit button to submit my lineup. I check the "starting lineups" via MFL to make sure the submit key was pushed correctly. I have never had a problem with this method.
