Hurricane Sandy (2 Viewers)

2pm est Tarp check. Tarp is really losing ground. The secure areas around the base of the tarp seem to be mostly loose. Tarp is possibly only being held on by either cinder blocks, logs or some other semi heavy substance that I can not be sure of.

TARP losing more ground

for those with DirecTV, and still have power, they are dedicating channel 325 and 349 for all news on the hurricane
You doing alright down there pal?
yup, no complaints yet. just noticed i was missing a shingle on the side of my house that had a nice hole coming in, so i threw up a board. it will be interesting tonight though, if those winds come like they say they will we will have all sorts of crap flying around. 3/4 of my neighbors have pumpkins and halloween decs, along with the usual stuff. i have to say though, seeing a witch with a broom flying around
Good to hear - sounds like you guys might get hammered the hardest in PA. I've done all the prep I can...just waiting it out at this point. Hard to believe that central PA is in the direct line of the storm.

Its a good thing that between Central PA and the storm is an ocean, bay, Delaware and NJ

Starting to get very bad here in Pittsburgh. I had to use my umbrella and I also noticed there were leaves and twigs in my driveway. Not good. Pray for me.

34,000 LIPA customers (Long Island) with no power.
Amazing, it was 3K a few hours ago.Knowing LIPA, ten days to restore.
Up to 54k now, 30k in Suffolk, 24k Nassau. They recalled all repaid crews until the winds die down. Spokeman said 7 to 10 days to restore services.
"If LIPA can't respond to these emergencies they're going to have to shut the grid down because it's becoming a danger to the public." - Suffolk police over the scanner

glad to hear you guys ready. you guys have an advantage with not being on top of each other, that should help. we're as ready as we want to be. my front door just got hit hard by wind though, that could get interesting as the night goes on. half the door frame is weak wood, so it might get messy.and i still think it is funny hearing the political pieces involved with this. Corbett hyping the oil refineries here in the state and complaining about Obama, followed by the MD. governor coming out and saying how supportive the feds have been and much better than 4 years ago :lmao: these guys never stop

Here in Edison in Central NJ. Winds are kicking up a lot and the trees are swaying something fierce. Windows are rattling, basement still dry. Good luck to all.

From Jim Cantore's Twitter:

Forecast tide of 11.7' above MLLW is more enough to put water in the subway
MLLW = Mean lower low water
Cantore is a complete sensationalist d00shbag. Better info anywhere else, but Dr. Jim Masters at Weather Underground is one of the best.
Cantore: :flex: "we're expecting large amounts of rain and wind, some street ponding has already begun"
