Hurricane Sandy (2 Viewers)

Battery storm surge plus tide level now at 10.7 feet. Subway is officially getting into danger. Wow.
It's over 12 feet now. Con Ed is preemptively shutting down power in parts of lower Manhattan.
Last I heard was that Con Ed might be shutting down power to lower Manhattan (I was robo-called by Con Ed)... has that changed to definitely? Power still on here at Houston and Ave A. And it's been blowing really hard- I finally figured out that the wind sounds like a snow-plow scraping the street. HUGE gust as I'm writing this.THank god one of the end results of the fire in our building two years ago was all new windows.
They just had a Con Ed spokesman on they're shutting down portions of the grid - around Bowling Green subway station, around Fulton Street Station, and along Avenue C where the water is fairly deep.We have flooding on West 42nd (foot or two deep) and supposedly it's 3 feet deep further down below the Garment District.
What channel?HFS... ok- I've never seen winds like this (tree-rimmed playground across the street with trees flailing around, and deserted intersection of Ave and Houston with wind blown rain going sideways.

I dunno...flipping between all the locals like I'm ADHD.

That 14th and C one looks very much like the Con Ed generating station, can't vouch for the Peter Cooper one

Hard to tell- but they both look like they could be from where they're supposed to be from.

Yep. And TWC seems to be validating it.

They are user uploads tho, no?

The West Side Hwy is under water, just saw a live shot, but it's only ankle deep.

The surge at the Battery was 8.4 feet; Irene was around 4 feet.

I've seen this in two places hope it's not fake. Can't verify yet.

BREAKING: MTA announces NYC subways will be closed for remainder of the week. All major lines are flooded

Wow, a woman just called into Fox 5 NY, she's stuck inside her building at 36TH AND FIRST WITH A FLOODED LOBBY!

This is really getting seroius! :jawdrop: I never thought that far up could flood.

Now showing Brooklyn Battery Tunnel flooded out

8 inches of rain now today, more than anywhere else in Maryland. Wind is really gusting now but not as steady as Irene was. Went outside and it sounds like a freight train when the wind gusts, eerie. Still have power...

Sty town flooding is confirmed by NY1. Still don't believe the DUMBO photo though.
dude, its happening, if 36th and 1st is flooding and 23rd and 10th, this is totally belivable to me. It looks only like the Carosuel platform is flooded
That photo has a high rise in manhattan across the bridge. It looks like it is under construction. That building has been completed for a while. I got married in that park so I'm familiar. I'm sure it is flooding. I just don't believe that photo.

Or is that the freedom tower? ####, I don't know anymore. I'm making another cocktail

That's the Freedom Tower. The one you're thinking about is the one to the right of it.
