Local schools and municipalities completely jumped the gun by canceling school, moving trick-or-treat, closing liquor stores, etc. By tomorrow night, it might not even be raining, yet our trick-or-treating has been moved to Saturday night.Yes, we had some damage, and there has been some localized flooding, but there was no reason to make those decisions on Monday.

If only one child was saved from having a piece of his costume blow away, it was worth it.

All schools were cancelled here last night...and then nothing happened. Looks like we dodged a bullet. I left for work around 8:20 this morning and the sun was shining with virtually no wind. It has begun to rain again here, but holy overreaction, Batman.GL to all of those more directly affected by the storm on the coast.

Rather than wait and see if the weather actually lives up to the forecast, they assume that it will be that bad or worse and change/cancel everything unnecessarily.Just seems dumb to me.

Yeah, I know it didn't hit some as hard as predicted but I'd say the officials did a wonderful job. The overreact for a reason because under reacting has the potential to cause harm. Nobody knows which region will get hit the hardest, whose trees will be able to stay in the ground, which part of the infrastructure will fail. So they play it safe and perhaps inconvenience a few for a little but keep everyone safe. Besides, I'm sure in many areas that weren't hit as hard, they still have to do cleanup which is hampered by everyone on the road, etc.

I live in a condo complex and all of our lines are underground. The issue here isn't a locally damaged line, it's a damaged station further up the chain. So at least we've got that going for us
