Doing 84 and posting right now. No fatalities
surprisingly.
If you wonder why people think you're being an idiot about this, this is post (and the others like
it) is why.
I don't wonder about it. I get it. So may as well shtick it up a bit.
I find the issue to be similar to gun or pit bull ownership. In my opinion, based on the statistics I've read and my anecdotal observations, owning a gun and/or a pit bull is a very dumb thing to do and unnecessarily puts others lives at risk. Given the number of accidental injuries or deaths that occurred due to ownership versus the alternatives (get another type of gun, bow hunt, get an alarm system, etc) it just seems like a no-brainer to me).
But, do I think we should criminalize ownership of either of these things? Of course not. And that's where this threads breaks down. I just can't take the yokels who believe criminalizing the simple action of using one's while driving to the extent we criminalize DUI seriously. Those people can't see there's a healthy gray area. So the discussion devolves.
Fwiw, I'm not posting this post while driving. I'm posting while crapping.
