Those are coming down as well. The big take away from an outsider is the United States still has statues of Jefferson Davis .
What a ####ed up country.
I am wondering when the the Unabomber and Tim McVeigh statues are going to be built. Nothing like honoring those brave men who declared war against their own country. The big take away from an outsider is the United States still has statues of Jefferson Davis .

This is oddly specific.Nickelback has its time and place....forlorn strip clubs in two-bit towns when a chick with one too many tattoos and a C-section scar hits the stage around 1am, for instance.
There is never a time nor place where Creeed is acceptable.
Would be a fantastic moderator alias.I don’t think threads at Footballguys.com are protected by the US Constitution

Oh, not just statues....several counties and several schools, most prominently Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama which has an enrollment of 94% African Americans. I chit you not!Northern Voice said:The big take away from an outsider is the United States still has statues of Jefferson Davis .

Looks like some were named after Light Horse Harry Lee (including Virginia’s).eoMMan said:Should all these Lee counties (I think all were named after General Robert E. Lee) in the USA be renamed?

Why, because someone has a differing opinion or is asking a simple question?bentley said:This is a really stupid question.
My issue with the thread is the subject line and the OP don't mesh. It's pretending to be one conversation but is really about something specific. It takes something complex and specific and tries to conflate it with some larger broader statement. Like if I started a thread that said "Is it acceptable to grab the butt of a woman you find attractive?" and then my OP was about how I grabbed my wife's butt. Why, because someone has a differing opinion or is asking a simple question?
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing but this is the kind of post that shuts down conversation. Why would you be against folks having a discussion? If it's so dumb, the question is why did you feel the need to post and try to put the OP in their place?
I want to hear or read what people have to say and I think insulting the topic or poster is a lowbrow way to shut someone down that doesn't agree lock and step with your own opinion on the matter.
Cheers!
That I can agree with and that's why I posted with more of a POV after my 1st post. I don't feel this topic is great for the FFA quite frankly. It's a worthwhile discussion but there's much you can't discuss because it's the FFA.My issue with the thread is the subject line and the OP don't mesh. I agree, it's a political thread trying to disguise as non-political. No feathers ruffled here. That I can agree with and that's why I posted with more of a POV after my 1st post. I don't feel this topic is great for the FFA quite frankly.
I was more speaking in the general sense. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, seriously.
Because is disingenuous and leading. The question you asked below is way better. Why, because someone has a differing opinion or is asking a simple question?

We need to give this country back to the Indians to be whole again. Which tribe? The one who had the highest kill count when Columbus showed up.Should we as a country take a step back and see if some of the things we have honored with statues and symbols are hurting others feelings or perpetuating an atmosphere that is unfair to certain races or individuals?
Could it hurt to listen or to take something down that is causing pain? I know there are going to be examples that will show both sides, we make a lot of exceptions for a lot of different religions as an example, we don't usually rub the history of violence that permeates Christianity's History as an example and dictate current policy based on the sins of hundreds of years ago. We know Christians burned people alive at the stakes in the Salem Witch Trials, that seemed pretty anti-women. Should we allow Christian Churches to operate in the Year 2020?
It's a very vast topic and covers a lot of areas, gonna agitate a lot of folks to boot. And at the end I'm not sure much will truly get resolved.
It really is too bad, isn't it? Always happens when you're feelin' way too damn good. Someday I'll get far away from here. Maybe this afternoon. Bunch of animals. Never again. You jerks. I had finally forgotten about nickelback, and this is how you remind me?
I am sure you know that, if some liberals have their way, we may see an era of wealth redistribution like no other, and the demographics are shifting towards a more diverse demographic who feel that they were systematically oppressed for decades even after the end of legal segregation and they may look to drastically lower the exemption on the estate tax and put a wealth tax that was favored by two of the three leading Democrat presidential candidates in this cycle. We need to give this country back to the Indians to be whole again. Which tribe? The one who had the highest kill count when Columbus showed up.
We should probably rename Columbus Ohio too before someone burns it to the ground.
There. There's that condescension we all miss. Right there. Perfect encapsulation. Remember when you told a poster that he walked in wanting everyone to know how smart he was and that it was like a wad a twenties rolled around ones? Well, those were all slaveholders anyway so what's your point?or whatever it is that you are so afraid of.
No you missed the point. I want the native Americans to get their land back.I am sure you know that, if some liberals have their way, we may see an era of wealth redistribution like no other, and the demographics are shifting towards a more diverse demographic who feel that they were systematically oppressed for decades even after the end of legal segregation and they may look to drastically lower the exemption on the estate tax and put a wealth tax that was favored by two of the three leading Democrat presidential candidates in this cycle.
Now this isn't the politics forum, and I don't intend to debate those statements on their merits or engage with anyone who tells me that those positions won't win. That's a matter for the voters to decide and we might disagree on what we hope will happen but I think we can agree that the fringe support for liberal candidates started to get a voice with Bernie and Warren and that there are active voters pushing for a more progressive, liberal, or openly socialist agenda.
And those people almost unanimously support BLM.
Now imagine for a minute that they might win an election or even several in a row. That the world turns in a direction that you personally disagree with. And that they rename your town Kaepernick, and your driverless electric vehicle takes you past a statue of Kaepernick every day on your way to your mandatory meditation and transsexual training, or whatever it is that you are so afraid of.
Imagine that you live long enough to see your great grandchildren indoctrinated in the Colin Kaepernick memorial high school, where they learn that he was a hero for kneeling during the anthem, and that the founding fathers were hypocritical slave owners whose murderous and war mongering ways were a stain on this country's history.
And you great grandchild comes home and starts lecturing you about the lazy white Americans of the late 20th and early 21st century who oppressed their ancestors and were primitive and savage.
And when you argue, your own grandchildren and even your children all take sides against you, telling you that you are a relic, stuck in the past, and look down on you for your foolish and outdated opinions, even as they realize that they have missed out on what you consider America.
And imagine that, as you lay dying, you find out that a group of protesters, led by your own kid no less, has finally taken to the streets and torn down the sign that says welcome to Kaepernick and has a free bible, constitution or flag to burn.
And the cops arrest your kid and put him in jail.
And he calls you, on your deathbed, to ask for help and for your forgiveness.
And imagine the joy it would bring you to know how morally consistent you stayed your whole life as you told him to rot in jail for destruction of property.
Fortunately, this is not a debate and I don't care about your political opinion any more than you care about mine here, because this is the FFA, and not a place to discuss our political preferences. No you missed the point. I want the native Americans to get their land back.
You should be more tolerant of other people's views. The native americans suffered more than any other race in America.Fortunately, this is not a debate and I don't care about your political opinion any more than you care about mine here, because this is the FFA, and not a place to discuss our political preferences.
My only goal was to point out that you might feel differently if the shoe were on the other foot, but alas you were far too clever.
I can’t see why that doesn’t merit capital punishment if we have itDon't tell me. I thought the looters and rioters should be charged with arson and theft if they burned and looted buildings and chattel. Anyone using a molotov should have gotten an instant attempted arson charge if the state has those statutes. Any successful use of a molotov and the offender should be charged with arson.
We should not set cities ablaze in America.
Yeah, the severity should not be swept under the rug, but I'm not in favor or capital punishment for anything, so that's a little tricky.I can’t see why that doesn’t merit capital punishment if we have it
I’m not either but like i said, if we have it, this is an incredibly violent destructive dangerous and deadly act. Those two NY lawyers should sit in jail for the rest of their daysYeah, the severity should not be swept under the rug, but I'm not in favor or capital punishment for anything, so that's a little tricky.
They actually may qualify for capital punishment. That's arson and at least attempted murder.I’m not either but like i said, if we have it, this is an incredibly violent destructive dangerous and deadly act. Those two NY lawyers should sit in jail for the rest of their days
I'm right with you on that. I hate violent mobs of all stripes. Some people find them justified. People's freedoms here are not at stake. They were at stake and are commemorated by the statues and set-aways of land, but these can be remedied through a legal process, not through destruction of property.I can’t fathom the casual support for this chaos. I have no love, need for or support for confederate monuments but I have less love, need for or support of mobs doing mob things.
This history is being written by thugs and looters, not winners.Well, history is written by the winners, so it largely depends on who's writing the history
Never made it as a wise manYou jerks. I had finally forgotten about nickelback, and this is how you remind me?
Long time no see man. I agree, Creed is alright.
That's exactly how I felt when Barr said that exact quoteThis history is being written by thugs and looters, not winners.
I saw creed in concert with a couple work friends. It was strangely awesome. Lots of fireballs for some reason.Long time no see man. I agree, Creed is alright.
Yeah I was not a Nickleback fan ever but I liked Creed. Good workout music.I saw creed in concert with a couple work friends. It was strangely awesome. Lots of fireballs for some reason.

I think this is a sentence fragment. what are you trying to say? This is the killing of free expression, free speech, etc. this is trophies. We are placating the angry mob and giving power.. How does Using the unforgivable death of George Floyd to move our country forward?
