Kevin Jones, RB DET

News: According to a report on WDFN-AM in Detroit Wednesday morning, Lions RB Kevin Jones is expected to be back working out with the club by training camp despite suffering a Lisfranc sprain on his foot in Week 14, and the club hopes to have him active for Week 1 in 2007. Initial reports stated that Jones would miss up to one year with the injury, but the report added that the media did a bad job reporting because they based it on LB Teddy Lehman, who had the same injury and waited three months to have the same surgery; Jones has already been treated for the sprain. Kowalski added that he expects the Lions to sign a veteran running back to give them some insurance for Jones.

Analysis: This is terrific news for Fantasy owners who were expecting to go without Jones for all of 2007. Jones' status certainly should be watched over the coming months. If he's healthy and ready for the '07 season, he'd be at least a No. 2 Fantasy running back.

whew!!

[wipes brow]

i'll believe it when i see it, but i was prepared to lose him for 2007. this is some good news -- for KJones, too :bag:

Good news? maybe.

"Expected" and "in camp practicing" can be 2 different things.

I wish him the best but that injury is a nasty one & has ended more than one career.

We'll see...

Thought this might be of more interest than it's receiving. I as a KJ owner hope that modern medicine comes through again, ala Palmer. I know it's a different injury but five years ago Palmer woul have been screwed. Here's to hoping the doc's work the same kind of magic with Jones

IIRC the "initial reports" of him missing up to a year were not very credible. It may have been someone taking a guess. I don't recall any official timetable from the team or KJ himself about the injury at all.

Either way, good news. I'm planning on avoiding him in the first couple of rounds anyway.

Wow! As a KJ owner in a deep keeper league, this is very promising news. Its largely a guessing game on this sort of stuff, but this has been the sunniest view on the injury and makes me feel a bit better.

Thanks for posting.

This makes me cautiously optimistic. I remember reading that on a scale of 1 to 3, the doc said the severity of this type of injury was 3+. That says nothing about a timetable of his return, but that did not sound good.

Great info, thanks for the find! I totally agree that everything is guesswork. He got treated immediately and is a workout warrior, I truly believe KJ will be back in time and people that don't draft him are going to be dissapointed that they did not. I think the Lions with a good draft can be good (I know everyone has been saying that), but if they get lineman, and some D peices, they are a team to be worried about. KJ is a huge part of that puzzle. If they sign Faulk, and Faulk wants to go there then obviously that dents KJ on third downs, but KJ is too good to keep off the field when healthy!
