Lebron James will never win a championship... (1 Viewer)

Thoroughly impressed with Lebron on and off the court this year. He's matured to be a different leader and a different player. No stopping him now. He's got a taste of the ring, is comfortable in pressure and will want more. I bet he wins a bunch.

Put this down in history. LBJ will never win an NBA championship. He doesnt have the killer instinct or clutch play to become the best. He'll never be Magic and no way will he ever be Jordan. I still think he'll become one of the best players in the NBA, but he'll be just like Peyton Manning. All stats and no rings
But I saw him win a championship on my Dad's big TV tonight.

If it takes a supposed franchise savior 3 NBA season before he hits a game winner... there's a problem. What's even worse is he has been considered "the man" practially since he put on a Cavs jersey.

Wade amd Melo on the other hand will win their fair share of championships.

Gilbert really should have taken a deep breath for a few days before firing off this missive:

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert

Majority Owner

Cleveland Cavaliers
I tried to take that to the bank once and they threw me out. :kicksrock:

Really, what's all the fuss about?

Jud Buechler won two straight titles. Mike Smrek won two straight titles. Carl Herrera won two straight titles.

Will anyone disagree that Lebron tainted his legacy by leaving the Cavs and putting together a "Dream Team" in order to win titles?

IMO he could win 6 like Jordan but if he needs to be surrounded by All-Stars to win them he'll never be thought of as the GOAT.

Yes. But Jordan tainted his legacy even more by continuing to play with Pippen and Grant/Rodman. He should've left and signed with the worst team possible to prove he doesn't need to be surrounded by all-stars to win titles.

Why is this thread still around? He won twice. Find and Replace "Lebron James" with "Kevin Durant" and then you might have something.

:lmao:

Do you think Magic Johnson's legacy was tainted by the fact that he only came out of college to play with Kareem?

Strangely, I think the players Jordan played with on some of those teams were much better than what Bron has in Miami.

Nope.

FWIW I didn't think much of what Garnett did either.
He left the Cavs because they couldn't put crap around him.

Dream team? 2 players were there. 2 that were pretty well exposed in this game. Bosh still has something left...but Wade is done.

At least done as a #2 or even #3 guy on a team.

Lebron again couldn't do it all himself when the guys around him were adding nothing to the games. I guess that is his legacy.

There is no Pippen on this team anymore. Nothing even close.

His legacy...to anyone who actually watched this series, is still just fine.

I think some people don't realize just how good some of the supporting cast was with Jordan. Pippen was a top 50 all time nba great. Horace Grant was better than Bosh.

Name one player that won without a supporting cast. Also, Miami is no where near a "dream team".

The issue isn't that a team needs to have multiple talented players to win a title, it's that Lebron (and Garnett) went to some other All-Star player's team to win a title.

Yeah, he should have stayed in Cleveland, with a franchise that showed it was incapable of surrounding him with a team good enough to help him win it all, right?

The issue is the ownership/management who can't seem to put a decent team around an all-world player.

A. Focus on what a player is.

B. Focus on what a player is not.

I choose A. I have little respect for those that choose B.
