We often listen to the Sirius stations where it’s in heavy rotation (80s on 8, Classic Rewind, Road Trip Radio, etc). And I think he might have learned it at one of his guitar lessons.

The Walkmen, by the way, sound really nice on a good listening rig. Their studios used to be at Mercata Studios, which is where Ezra Koenig interned while at Columbia University. Their stuff, like VW, sounds great. They took time and care and put it into their recordings. You can hear it on Lisbon and You & Me.
Man, have I gone down a memory hole listening to this album tonight. Thanks, Scoresmen. It's all bittersweet, and I wrote about it before and deleted it, but they are very real memories.
I think I'm actually getting old. I'm fifty-plus now and no longer a young man. That's hitting home a bit as I listen to this. The less time at a keyboard tonight is probably for the better. But it sounds so damn good, tracks 3-6 on Lisbon. I won't emote and will leave it at the technical. Listening on a pair of Sennheiser 650 HDs with a headphone amp from iFi and just enjoying it all. The Walkmen could always border on maudlin but never crossed the line between sad and schmaltz. And they sound great doing it.

Nice. I find it interesting where kids hear music now and what influences them.
My daughter hates riding the bus to school, but I have noticed that she likes a lot of old music because of it since they play the local "classics" station. We don't filter my music much in the car, and just listen to our albums and playlists, and with both kids refused to play the Kidzbop crap. I'd say right now her music and playlist is 1/3 oldies station, 1/3 parents (mostly me to my wife's annoyance), and 1/3 Minecraft stuff she randomly finds.

For me, Fred Eaglesmith falls on a spectrum between Tom Waits on one end, and a Candian version of Robert Earl Keen on the other (to include being a great storyteller). My selections lean towards the latter.
It's a pretty limited range of song topics though: It's just women, drugs, mistakes, and most of all, transportation - lots and lots of songs about transportation.
I think you'll be pleased.

I didnt know that about their equipment but it makes sense why it sounds so good on a good pair of good headphones.
Also surprised I dont have lasting tinnitus after spending an entire show of theirs right next to one of those giant amps that they put right on the edge of the stage. Man were they good live.

Yeah, it's really vintage electric guitar/amp stuff. They had that studio I mention but that was before New York went absolutely haywire everywhere for real estate. I think they had to either shut it down, sell it, or move it to Philly, where two of their band members actually moved at one point (I believe trying to raise families was impossible in NYC for them). That's what I heard through the ether, anyway. I know Ezra Koenig did intern at the studios.
Yeah, it was Marcata Studios, and it was an all-analog studio that they recorded at. So you sort of know vintage sound—and good sound—is important to them. Everything they recorded sounds good—at least up through Lisbon, and I can't imagine Heaven is far off—and is nice when driven through a good pair of headphones. Just figured it was worth pointing out because "Angela Surf City" is so full of space and reverb that cuts through it that it's worth mentioning they pay attention to their equipment.
Columbia University displaced the studio with their forced purchase (eminent domain) of the building that it was in. Don't cite me on that, but I'm pretty darn sure it was academic ED that caused it all. (Yes, I used it with that implication. If you can't really afford it, get the city to seize it.)

One of mine is a huge rock fan. I might have him list the top 31 songs from his favorite - Foo Fighters.
The rest like music enough but it isn’t a huge part of their identity. The youngest takes dance and wants violin lessons but we haven’t found a good instructor yet.

Also suffered one of the worst bad beats ever yesterday. 7 stud high. I river a 10 to give me AAA1010. Guy to my left has k 9 7 3 rainbow and was raising me often to the end. His three hole cards were KKK. Pot was 15 percent of all the chips. Out six from money instead of 2nd in chips.

This was my experience too. Only a couple I grew tired of halfway, just one heart smash (Pretty Reckless, wow), and a lot in between. I'll shout out Built To Spill and Funkadelic though. And that was an unexpected finish to the play list!

I like the Rollie years but mostly concentrated on 2 albums. I’m a big Santana fan so it’s natural I like those early albums but I wasn’t exposed to them much until later on.
I like a lot of the Steve Perry stuff as well. There’s one song (or two more accurately) where he steals the show.

A couple of new/old releases while we wait for the #30s
The Sheltering Sky is a King Crimson show from 1982 featuring the Fripp/Bruford/Levin/Belew band. The setlist is almost entirely then-recent material which makes sense considering the lineup but it does cut down on the surprises. I don't think any of the songs are "better" than the studio versions but it's still an interesting listen because of the extreme separation of the recording. Fripp's guitar is way over on the right channel with Belew's on the other side which makes it easier to dissect the music.

Spaceman's fine. One of those I'll never seek out, but won't auto turn off either. That aptly describes a lot of the list. The play list was a pleasant afternoon of work-from-home on the back deck on an 80 degree and sunny late October day...just not one that caused me to say to myself I HAVE TO LISTEN TO THAT AGAIN to anything. Although I am spinning Take Me Down again right nowOh yeah, well i didn’t like your songs either, so there!!
