Michael Vick Bandwagon rolling like a freight train (1 Viewer)

Vick will start ONE week and ONLY one week unless Kolb is hurt again. So this train wont be going very far unless that happens. Philly did not trade McNabb to a rival and give Kolb a raise to NOT play him. Vick did look OK but he still has the worst accuracy on any NFL QB and the Philly offense requires a fairly accurate passer. This post will have more life come 2011.
That and the fact that Vick looked far better than Kolb when they were in. Vick is hungry. The kind of hungry you get from sitting in prison. Once he shows what he can do it'll be hard to get him off the field.
:lmao: He's playing for his last contract.

I am trying to get him in both my leagues....my problem is that I have to drop Portis in one league and Ricky Williams in another.

If I get him, I will start him this week over Rivers and Eli....I think his game translates very well against a team like the Lions who will probably be able to generate a pass rush, but will be susceptible to the craziness that ensues once they start missing tackles.

This guy has star potential... full blown QB contraversy after this game. Fans will boo next time Kolb trots out there as the starter...
We can only hope. Man, that would be sweet. :goodposting:
I agree here...Philly fans are unreasonably brutal. If Vick leads them to a big win, Kolb will be under a huge amount of pressure, whether or not he can handle it, I am beginning to have my doubts. He looked pretty bad in preseason, and didn't look very good in his limited time against the Pack.

I'll probably catch hell for it, but I'm starting him over Brady vs Jets this week. If week 2 were played out 1000 times I feel confident this would prove to be the correct choice. This week, Vicks over/under is probably around 1.5 passing TDs and Brady maybe around 2.0. I think the rushing ability of Vick is the difference.
I am considering the same thing. The Jets D is the difference there. So good. Even if the pats win, I could see it being a 230 yd 2 td 2 in type day.And I think Vick is going to light up the lions. Hell look at how many rushing yards Jake Freaking Cutler ran against the lions for. Now Imagine cutler was Vick.

Michael Vick looks impressive in Philadelphia Eagles 27-20 loss to Green Bay Packers

Eagles QB Michael Vick looked impressive while trying to rally his team to a win

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick looked very impressive after filling in for injured starting quarterback Kevin Kolb during Sunday's 27 - 20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Vick came into the game after Kolb was sidelined with a concussion after taking a hard hit from Packer's linebacker Clay Matthews.

After several nifty runs and accurate passes, Vick was almost able to rally the Eagles. However, on fourth down and one with two minutes left, he was stuffed short of a first down after attempting a quarterback sneak at the Packers 41 yard line.

Vick finished with 175 passing yards, 16 completions, 24 attempts, and 1 TD. He also racked up 103 rushing yards and at times showed the razzle-dazzle that once made him a Pro-Bowl quarterback.

Vick and Kolb were constantly harassed by Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, who finished the game with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.

The Philadelphia Eagles next game is against the Detroit Lions on Sept 19th. The Green Bay Packers next game is against the Buffalo Bills on Sept 19th.

Michael Vick was born in Newport News, Virginia. He was a star quarterback at Warwick High School in Newport News. After graduating, he attended Virginia Tech University where he set numerous passing and rushing records as a quarterback. He went on to have a successful and lucrative NFL career after being the #1 overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.
He put up 100 against a top 5-10 (if not better) defense in the NFL. Now the Lions played with heart. And It will be interesting how they match up with the speed that Schwartz has been drafting lately. I heard something interesting on sportstalk last night. Did you know due to a DL injury/the kolb injury that the Packers did not use a non nickel-dime package against the eagles the entire game. AJ hawk never saw the field. Vick's speed and dynamic change the way you have to defend him. It was nice to see his accuracy seemed improved too.

People on this board aren't much better based on what I've read. The kid's had 10 passes, 10!, as the team leader and everyone's saying he sucks. Sorry if he screwed up your fantasy week one. Its what you get when you rely on a first year starter as your QB1.Kolb starts every game he's healthy for, no matter what the fans want or FFL players on a message board. The team needs to know if he's an NFL caliber QB. And you can't make that assessment in just a few games. This is a rebuilding year for the Eagles, plain and simple.

what is the probability that he starts this week? I've read that Kolb is out of practice until at least Friday. I'd guess the chances are low...thoughts?
I can't imagine an eagles team needing a win, would trot Kolb out on sunday with little to no practice this week. Vick is pretty much a lock.
Kevin is out for sure.
ya, now that it comes out that the NFL is investigating their handling of the Kolb situation, he's a lock to sit.

Kolb would get a little more respect if he actually earned the starting job. The guy has done nothing to earn the right to learn on the job and waste the eagles 2010 season (though i hope he does). You say the eagles are rebuilding, I doubt they'd be quick to agree with you.

The kid throwing the newspaper to Desean Jackson in the ESPN commercial has more talent than Kolb.

Vick will get the start over McNabb and Ryan here.
I'm in the exact same boat. Was going to roll with Ryan this week and didn't even try to pick Vick up on waivers. Low and behold, this morning I see Vick wasn't picked up and was an FA. I dropped a prospect for him and will play him for this week anyway. I'm not expecting any value past this week but we'll see.I'm a Falcons fan and have watched a lot of Vick. He is very streaky but as someone else said, he looked hungry and healthy last Sunday. There is a very good chance he puts up crazy numbers against DET. Plus Ryan and McNabb both looked like crap last week so I think Vick by far has the bigger upside for now.

Hmmm....2 really good games and one crappy half. Yup, he stinks. I say they are rebuilding because they are one of the youngest teams in the league and just jettisoned their fanchise QB. In your opinion, what does he need to do to earn the starting job? What has Sanchez done to earn his?

This isn't fantasy football for the eagles. You think he played well against the saints last year? He ONE good game at home against a trainwreck Chiefs team. Sanchez was a top 5 pick and for him to be be the starter over Clemens, doesn't mean nearly the samething as beating out Mcnabb or Vick.

Exactly why they won't start a QB who doesn't fit their system. And Andy isn't about to change his system for Vick.On topic, Vick will start and play well this week. Next week has yet to be determined.

They might give Kolb a few games but if he continues to look terrible they're going to go to Vick. Winning is more important than loyalty to a guy who's started a total of 3 NFL games in his career.

Well I have Vick and Kolb now, and I'm really starting to worry that this will be down-to-the-wire GTD. If Kolb practices Friday, together with Reid's comments, we'd have to assume Kolb starts. I don't think we can assume he finishes the game though. How many snaps will Vick take away from Kolb now, under the circumstances, for Wildcat/gadget plays?

I think there's a good chance neither QB will be worth starting if there's any back and forth over Kolb's health and a GTD looming. That's why I'm now rostering 3 QBs...

:P

Looks like it's a lock now, per Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that Michael Vick will be the Eagles' starting quarterback in Week 2 at Detroit.

I would say Vick fits their system just fine. Did you not see the second half? What big changes do you think Reid has to make?

The Eagles run a West Coast offense based on timing and accuracy. Vick will not be the long term QB in Philly. They have committed a lot of money to Kolb. They will want to see if he's the future QB or if they have to draft one early in '11. They can't find that out if he's on the bench and I sure hope they give him more than 10 passes to prove himself. If he doesn't show improvement as the season goes along, they'll have a decision to make in the off-season. But they'll want at least this season to evaluate him. The Eagles picked up Vick so they could flip him for a draft pick. No one offered them anything. They got stuck paying him his 5 mil roster bonus (which some insiders say they were regretting) and now they've put themselves in a messy situation. Vick will be the #2 if/when KK is healthy. The longer they sit Kolb, the further behind they fall in their future development.

For the Kolb ownersHow much Free Agent $$$ (100 cap) should be spent on Vick?
I picked him up for $18 (Kolb was my QB1) and grabbed Hasselbeck, he went for $11 and $13 in my other leagues to non-Kolb owners (in those leagues owners had Kolb as a QB2 so prob werent worried)

Dodds has him ranked quite high this week. I'm picking him up and starting him over Schaub for this week only.

Vick got schooled by the Joes in Joes v. Pros. By schooled, I mean sacked and picked off by division 2 caliber players in off-season form. He's done

So what are you trying to say about the Greenbay Packers? :lmao:

interesting opinion from lombardi

per rotoworld:

NFL Network's Mike Lombardi predicted Wednesday that Michael Vick will be the Eagles' starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

rotoworlds take: Despite the money paid to Kevin Kolb, Lombardi believes that wins will be the overriding factor in the Eagles' quarterback decision. Vick is going to start in Week 2, and should beat the Lions. He's got the Jaguars after that. If Vick wins two straight games, it would be very difficult to pull him for a quarterback that looked as poorly as Kolb did in Week 1.
no source listed on this, i assume it was on total access.

Is this Lombardi or Rotoworld assuming Vick starts at Jax, or does he have an inside scoop?

Listening to Adam Schefter this morning, the medical recommendation is to wait at least one week from the last indication of the concussion. He was vomiting and whatnot on Monday, he said. Given that, I'd say he might be out.I find it amazing that these football players play but Jason Bay missed the entire season in baseball. I'm far from a doctor, so maybe I should shut my face and stick to something I know about :)

per rotoworld again:
NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that Michael Vick will be the Eagles' starting quarterback in Week 2 at Detroit.rotoworlds take: Lombardi is really confirming, as opposed to breaking news. We've pretty well known Vick would get the nod since Monday. Always a threat for 80-100 rushing yards and now facing the worst secondary in football, Vick offers loads of upside as a top-ten QB1 fantasy start. He'll certainly not lack for motivation, as Andy Reid is in Kevin Kolb's corner at the moment. That could change if Vick pours it on Detroit for the Eagles' first win of the season.

This may be a bit off topic, but I just saw that a Bears player (Hillenmeir - not sure of spelling) was put on IR for a concussion. Any chance this happens to Kolb as well? It sure sounds like he's not recovering very quickly.

I put in 301.10 in a 500 BB league.

Probably thinking Reid will give Kolb two weeks to get his head clear since the Jaguars are no incentive to rush him back.

People are vastly underrating Andy Reid's massive ego again. Kolb will start when healthy. Book it.
Kolb will start but there is no guarantee he will continue to if he doesn't perform. That said I also think that he will perform and many are just greatly over reacting to a week one performance against a very good Packers team. The Eagles have a softer schedule in the next few weeks and I expect Kolb to come back and establish himself. There were rumors over the summer that Reid does not have as much support any more after advocating McNabb for so long, the team is expected to perform and if Vick gives them a better chance then I think it will be hard for Reid to ignore that.

after the bradley/kolb debacle there is no way they play him this weekend. None. Not with all the talk of taking conscussions seriously, Godeell would pick up the phone....
