Movies or shows that are "classics" that you don't like or (1 Viewer)

Add me to the Seinfeld haters club. I guess I don't hate it, but it certainly isn't a favorite of mine. Characters are hateful. Not one redeeming quality in any of them.

Dumb and Dumber...well let's just say it lived up to its name for me. There a certain kind of humor than misses me somehow and this is it.

I've been meaning to see the Godfather movies, but I never seem to get around to it.

On the TV side, I've been meaning to check out Breaking Bad.
so my favorite comedy show and movie and my ffavorite tv drama. Hello bizarro shadyridr
Big bang theory is an awful that I've never laughed once at and is very popular
Yeah, we're very different people. ;)

TV Shows:

1) Simpsons -- Watched parts of episodes, never understood the love.

2) Seinfeld -- Rarely found it funny despite trying multiple times to watch.

3) Cheers -- Never really watched it as a kid despite its popularity. I was more of a Cosby Show and Family Ties person.

4) X-files -- Never seen it.

5) M*A*S*H -- Never seen it.

Movies:

1) Caddyshack -- Still have never seen this. I know I need to :bag:

2) Ghostbusters -- I've seen parts here and there but never watched it all the way through. Not much interest.

3) Monty Python and the Holy Grail -- I've seen some parts, didn't find it that funny long ago, never tried again. I know I'd probably enjoy it now but haven't gotten around to it.

4) It's a Wonderful Life -- For whatever reason, I always change the channel when it's on during Christmas as I've never caught it from the beginning.

5) The Big Lebowski -- Tried a few times to watch, could never get through it.
How old are you?

The Godfather

Raging Bull

Goodfellas

The Wolf of Wall Street

Citizen Kane

2001: A Space Odyssey

The Sopranos

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Twin Peaks

Mad Men

A lot of the movies and shows listed here I like from a nostalgia perspective, but really don't hold up well for me upon rewatching today. Ghostbusters, Caddyshack and Seinfeld today are more funny for how I remember them rather than making me laugh today.

The Simpsons just got old after a few hundred episodes...bound to happen.

X-Files was a show I gave a shot at the time and didn't much care for. Ditto Rosanne.

Monty Python movies didn't strike me as all that funny the first time I saw them, but I gave them second chances and they grew on me quickly.

Phobe - never saw what those Canadians saw in this movie. With all it's "oot's" and "aboot's". The effects were great, acting too, but the accents just ruined it for me.

Movies I don't "get", just don't find them funny, that others seem to love:

The Big Lebowski

Raising Arizona (terribly unfunny)

Royal Tannenbaums (stupid).

When it comes to "comedy" movies, I find very few funny. Most I think are stupid. I probably tend to laugh more in comedy-dramas, I used to like a lot of the Eddie Murphy movies for laughs. But the "American Pie", "Somethin Like Mary" type movies I've never found to be the least bit funny.

I don't "hate" Seinfeld, I've watched most episodes multiple times. I do, however, feel it's overrated (I think it was voted best sitcom of all time someplace). I laugh at a lot of it but, my wife put it best, the show is generally too whiny to the point that it can become annoying.

My favorite sitcom of all time is "Friends". It seems a lot of people here hate Big Bang Theory. I didn't like it at first but my wife and son watched it a lot and it kind of grew on me. It's kind of funny but I wouldn't rank it as an all timer despite it's current popularity.

Eta I have been a big fan of most of the Monty Python movies. Love Holy Grail and the one with the fat guy who vomits non stop after saying "one more waffle thin mint" (forget which movie that is) had me rolling, even though it's stupid humor. /shrug

Most on my list(s) have their moments, but would fall under the category of "highly overrated" at a minimum.

Movies:

Office Space

Anything with Steve Carell

There's Something About Mary

Pretty much anything with Ben Stiller

Television:

The Office

Big Bang Theory

LOST

Simply sad.
But quite epic in it's total wrongness. So he's always got that going for him.

Monty Python's Flying Circus >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Monty Python's Movies

TV shows:

1) Lost - I tried a couple of times....it just never pulled me in

2) MASH - watched several episodes, but never found it that funny, just OK

3) Game of Thrones - maybe I just didn't devote enough time to it, but I spent every episode I watched just trying to track who was who...it felt like reading a Russian novel, too much mental work.

Movies:

1) Fast Times At Ridgemont High - I was just a hair too young to catch this when it came out and watching it later I just didn't get all the appeal....outside of Moving in Stereo of course.

2) There Will Be Blood - great acting in a horrible movie. Ending was so weird and felt out of place.

3) 2001: A Space Odyssey - I rented it once and never got past the beginning. I'm sure there was a lot more to it, but all of the apes going crazy with no words and the music....I just wasn't patient enough for it that night and still haven't tried it again since.

My brother just LOVED the X-files. I never got into it.

Didn't care for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Other than those two and Shindler's List (which I have never seen nor want to see), I enjoyed almost all the movies/show listed in this thread.

I think I lasted 2 seasons with Lost. When they discovered other people where there and there were washing machine machines and stuff, I was done.

I struggled with MASH too. I found it hard to laugh given the horror of the situation they were in.

I love Game of Thrones, but I had to keep a notebook to keep track of everything the first season or 2. It took up about 3 pages front and back. I can see why you wouldn't want to work that hard.

Yeah, the Simpson were great for the first decade or so. It's not terrible now, but the best stuff was the early years.

I don't get Monty Python at all. That's another one like Dumb and Dumber that seems to go over my head, I guess.

Thought for sure I was the only one. I've never seen a single episode. All of the promos looked terrible to me so I never bothered to watch and 20-some years later nothing's changed my mind about it.
There are lots of supposedly great shows that I've never watched. Aside from Seinfeld reruns I've never seen a single episode of any network TV show in more than 20 years.

Comedy is pretty subjective -- I don't find Monty Python movies to be particularly funny, for example, because that just isn't my style of humor.

Some of these lists are strange though. For the people who simultaneously dislike The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Ghostbusters, Monty Python, etc., could you give some examples of comedies you like? You've ruled out everything that's close to being good IMO.
