At last . . . progress, my fellow sleuthers. I ended up doing an image search for the pics I was sent. I went through almost all of them and had turned up nothing. Until . . .

One had multiple hits. It was the profile pic for multiple foreign FB pages, a couple of LinkedIn profile pages for women with different names from different countries, one or two business sites, and a YouTube channel for someone with a guy's name. All with different date stamps across a 2-3 year period.

So wait, you saying she was married once and then had to move after changing her name?

I don't see what the problem is here.

After 4-5 days, I responded indicating what my research had uncovered, and the response was that someone must have stolen photographs of her and has been using them without permission on all those sites. She said she will contact the websites and have the images of her removed. Of course, the part where they were supposed to be live pics she took this week that she sent from her phone was completely ignored (when they were posted online 3 and a half years ago). I suspect that is the last I will hear from this person, but who knows.

It’s impossible to pass up the video chat, no? Worst case get some dude from FBGs to do the chat for you. A quick scroll through this thread provides a lot of options.

He still wants to believe that this person could be genuine. Why? The whole thing was a waste of time, as a linkedin contact. If he was only sharing this for the laughs, he would have shared the photos, etc. He hasn't done that because he still wonders if maybe, just maybe, there is a hot, witty 35 year old woman out there who is pining for a pasty 60 year old slub. So you're saying there's a chance?

I don't know if you're using Snapchat to communicate, but I know there are apps/plugins that make pics taken well beforehand look like "snaps" (or pics taken in the moment).

Look, I do not suffer from low self esteem or anything. But I am a scrawny middle-aged guy who was never any better than average-looking on my best day. If a hot, funny chick accidentally contacts me and we just so happen to hit it off, there is a 100% chance that she is either a scam artist or a prostitute. There is no other possibility. I won the lottery by convincing one woman to put up with my **** -- the odds of stumbling across a second such woman are vanishingly remote.

For a while, I was getting 1-2 texts a day from someone I didn't know saying that they did or the new phone who is this texts. I couldn't figure out their angle...so I just started responding in gifs. Boy did they get pissed after about 40 of those.
