Music Draft - Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Garbage List - Now with unhealthy regional pork-stuffs! (1 Viewer)

9.25 GunsNRoses - Sweet Child of Mine (#88)

10.1 The Smiths - There's a Light That Never Goes Out (#226)

I think patience talk motivated the GNR. Scarcity the Smiths. Last one there I really love. Don't get me wrong, I love singing the beginning of Sweet Child o Mine, but Axl does stuff best left to him later.

eta - actually even axl does a horrible job with it.

GunsNRoses are listed on the spreadsheet as both "Guns 'N' Roses" and "Guns 'n' Roses".  :lmao:

Also, obligatory each time this song comes up.

#### it, let's go off the grid and double down on the R&B.  I got the late 90s/early 00s R&B soul covered with the D'Angelo pick, and I'll double-down on the PBR&B of the mid-10s with maybe the strangest, most elusive, most iconic "artist" (using the term art literally) in the game.

10.02 - Frank Ocean - "Thinkin Bout You" (#367)

Got a beach house I can sell you in IDAHO

I'm adding this to my "listen" list.

@Mrs. RannousOTC

I'm doing a little listening of songs I don't know.  First up was Robyn, "Dancing On My Own."  Not my cup of tea, but obviously really well regarded.  Since it's not my thing, I wonder, what makes this a great song to those who love it?  Not a challenge or snarky but genuinely wondering what sets it apart for you.

Next up the Miranda Lambert one.

I would have chose Pyramids or Novacane but RS didn't ask.

His stuff still sounds original a decade on from Nostalgia Ultra.

For this one, it helps to strap on platform boots and flick the lights on and off really fast.

Novacane is probably the only song I'd put up there with this one in his history, for me.

I think it's a testament to the man's vision how the last decade has gone.  It sounds cliche, but he's so much more than a musician, in terms of artistic vision.  It's actually quite beautiful to step back and see the big picture, the visual art, all of that.

Miranda Lambert, "The House That Built Me"

Pretty song.  Also pretty lady.  A bit too twangy for my taste, but she's talented.

I'm kind of surprised Run the Jewels aren't on this list at all - just because they are THE modern hip-hop band that seems to appeal to indie/mainstream/dad/rolling stone rock crowds.

RS went another way and I've considered it a few times. A couple I think fit your description. One left for me, or no hip-hop, I suppose. Who knows what evil lurks in the last five rounds?
