Music Draft - Rolling Stone Greatest 500 Songs Garbage List - Now with unhealthy regional pork-stuffs! (2 Viewers)

he still shows in the bottom of the thread. give him a few minutes, maybe. well, me too. i have to strategies here. need to toss a coin or something.

He's not there right now.  You have one hour and three minutes...well, one hour and one minute now.  Take your time.

okay, he's gone

um, this draft!

15.25 Kacey Musgraves - Merry Go Round #362

16.1 Radio Head - Karma Police #279

This is the Drake defense round. It's not so much a dislike of the songs he has listed. He just go to kiss Rihanna so it's personal. And I like these more than expected from such a thin list.

His grandson, Sam, played at this years Merlefest. He was good, and doesn't sound like his grandfather or dad. He doesn't sound country either. His brother Hank lll (Shelton) sounds like their grandfather. Their sister, Holly, played about three years ago at Merlefest. She's good too. They are the children of Hank Williams, Jr.
HWJ is dead to me.  I forget why, but I'm certain it was a good decision.

Interesting anout the others.  I'll search Utube

I love Kacey Musgraves, I wish it were 'Follow Your Arrow' or 'High Horse' or 'Space Cowboy' or 'Slow Burn' listed instead. But I would have happily picked that song.
I'm going to have to listen to her version of space cowboy is space cowboy. Same song that Steve Miller Band played?

Even when I got tired of Steve Miller I still loved space cowboy

no

So you can have your space, cowboy
I ain't gonna fence you in
Go on ride away, in your Silverado
I'll see you around again

She was great at Coachella 2019. All the kewl kids I went with did something else. They missed out. Funny thing about the song I picked that made this epic list, she didn't do it. A group in the smallish crowd chanted for it. They got flipped off. I love her.

I'm a space cowboy,  bert you weren't ready for that

I'm a space cowboy, you know I know where it's at,  yeah yeah yeah yeah

Do beautifully simplistic and stupid, it takes me back to earlier times. Line this paragraph.  Pop makes almost anything poetry in sufficient quantities

She was the best thing about SNL last week

btw ...going to miss this when it's over ...like the idea of a another top 500

ty @krista4
Agreed, it's been a ton of fun and I would like to apologize to @krista4 for being #####y Monday morning, nothing to do with this draft obviously.

I will set up the sheet and such for the Pitchfork 500 list after this and we'll see who's still interested. I mostly suggest that one because it's a bonkers list that is completely different than this one, so not a ton of duplicate songs... but also maybe more reaches/stuff people haven't listened to, so if not enough interest in that one, we could get our UK on and do an NME list or something.

But like Eephus said, still plenty of great songs available in this one and we'll worry about all that later.

Aw, that means a lot to me.  Not necessary, but means a lot.    I hope things are going better.

I'm definitely in for the next one.  For that one, everyone be forewarned, I will have a better strategy!  Step one of my strategy will be not to have pick #20.  Step two will be to ensure landrys is otherwise engaged during draft time.  Step three is don't #### it up.

Sounds interesting_fun

It looks like the Pitchfork list is arranged chronologically.

I think it would be better to randomize the order.

It is, and I'm realizing it's only 77-06 as well... not a problem for me by any means... anyway we can figure that out in time, I don't want to take the focus away from this draft other than to say I'll organize the next one but probably pass off spreadsheet input duties.

I don't mind the time period.  Would force me to branch out more, maybe.  I can keep up with the spreadsheet when I'm available.

16.02 - Britney Spears - "Toxic" (#114)

Feel like this will pair well with Mariah and Whitney.

I will mercifully end the Mexican standoff between me and @Ramsay Hunt Experience in the 101-125 category with this one.  While I like the other option fine, I greatly prefer this one and have had it in mind since long before some people were Britney-bashing earlier in the thread.

I feel like this song is only in here because of the music video.  The sheer bodysuit.  The neon red hair.  Tyson Beckford.  What's not to like?  But the song is also an underappreciated pop gem.

197 - I Can't Stand the Rain / Anne Peebles

I never heard this cover until today looking for un####ty songs

I loved the Lowell George version and this ones good, too. She could use Lowell's horn section, tho.

Sorry.....and sorry.

Goodbye Earl.  Dixie Chicks.

There's nothing left!
I love Dixie Chicks. That song wouldn't crack my top 30 by them.

It actually kind of irritates me that it's on the list because I don't hate it but it's probably the 8th best song on Fly.

I would encourage everyone to listen to Heartbreak Town, Without You, Sin Wagon, Cold Day in July, Cowboy Take Me Away, Ready to Run, etc, etc, etc.

Dixie Chicks are so good and this song is just too shticky/RS making some statement.
