There are two tiers left that I would classify as the weakest for me, so I’ll stick with my plan.

2.05 New York Dolls - Personality Crisis

I don’t have this song on karaoke but me and the boys did the New York Dolls in an air band competition in high school two years running. I wonder if those red crush velvet tights are still in the ol tickle trunk?

the whole thing is a snipe fest

1.25 Prince Purple Rain (#16)

2.1 Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil (#106)

Spreadsheet won't let me input my 2nd pick here...
I'll update the spreadsheet - don't worry about doing it.  In fact, I knew you were taking Prince before you showed up here, because I saw it being filled in.

This is the song that #####-slapped me in 5th grade and showed me what rock and roll was.

The Rolling Stones, '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction'

1965

I decided to switch it up from what was my 2B to the Townes Van Zandt 2A in this round.  I'm soooo tempted to take favorite songs but sticking to my strategy instead.  This grouping has nine red DO NOT DRAFTS and only three WANT TO HAVES, so I'm going here.  For the second time today, I'm taking an artist I've never drafted.  And I am, gasp, taking a female singer.

2.06  Mazzy Star - Fade Into You (#468)

Think I had this one in the second genre draft. So good. Still amuses that he went on to do the Buster Poindexter shtick.

How dare you madam!  You can’t take Hope Sandoval away from us men of a certain age.

2.07 - Maps (101) - Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 2003

This riff was so monstrous and the lyrics so naked -- Karen O.'s song is so wanton and pleading that it was too much for many tut-tutting sensibilities that wanted their feminist propers -- that Kelly Clarkson's team saw its effectiveness and decided to steal, repurpose, and rebrand it. Warmed over pop sensibilities and a bit of Applebee's™ feminism made the riff a number one hit, but the people they stole it from were cretinous libertines from the swamps of New York City who really love and lose something when they write or need to get a love song out of their system. Agree with me or not, the song is a monster of epic proportions.

Book it.

Can I get a link to a searchable list of the 500 songs?

First post has the spreadsheet, second tab there is the song list - just use ctrl-F like I do?  There might be people who are better at this ####, though.

This song is in a grouping of fantastic artists but the song choices for most of them aren't my favourite or in some cases are a bit shticky. I don't necessarily know if I'd rate this as my favourite New Order song either but it's about 200 spots lower on this list than it should be.

2.08 - Blue Monday - New Order (#235)

I drafted this tune in Genrepalooza, and I'm doing it again. It comes from a grouping that doesn't have many favorites in it, so I figure I best go ahead and grab it.

2.0N - Alison - Elvis Costello  (#396)

Is this where I launch into the story of when my high-school pompon squad (of which I was a member) scandalized 80s Southern Indiana with a routine to this song?  Nah, I've probably told it before.

I don't know what's sidetracked me the last year or two, but I need to stop it and do more music drafts.
Yes, you do!

That's a tough grouping for me, too, so of course this was a top pick for me.  :)

Wtf, have you never been poignant and angry?

consider yourself lambasted.

eta Randy White was a HUGE Costello fan.
Tell ya what, I'm willing to go outta my comfort zone and fire up a Costello day at work tomorrow......I'll report back.

I'm reasonable and willing to eat crow if Im diggin somethin I ripped on.

Stick to his first five albums, particularly the ones with the Attractions.
