New Van Halen Album (1 Viewer)

Ed's guitar tech Matt Bruck said the following today "TO CUT OUT THE RUMORS..... Rumors of them not getting along etc...? "That's simply not the case. They are getting along great. The schedule is being re-routed. Simple as that." So that's good news assuming he does know what's going on (and you'd think he would)
Yea, if you read further down under the postings someone mentions that tour is being rerouted to accomodate more European dates.
If that's true they're even bigger db's. You don't do that to people. Some of these people make plans to fly to other cities, take time off from work, plan to have their kids out of town, etc. Because you screwed up and didn't schedule properly is not justification for rescheduling an entire tour. I hope it's not Ed's cancer or a relapse, but I hope it's not that either. That's kind of a FU to fans. Touring bands with any consideration at all for their fans do not do this.

And now some are saying the band is just burned out and needs a break so this smells of trouble with over 30 dates left on the US tour still to go.

Didn't get to see them here this time around but had a few friends that went and they came away loving the music and wanting to vomit after having to listen to Roth sing(or attempt to).

I hope,as other have said, that it has nothing to do with EVH falling off the wagon again and from all reports he was doing fine on the tour playing wise.

Van Halen Tour: David Lee Roth Comments On Date Postponements (w/ VIDEO)

Van Halen postponed some dates on its summer reunion tour last week, leading many to speculate that the notoriously combative band -- currently comprised of original members David Lee Roth and brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, as well as Eddie's son, Wolfgang -- were combating once again.

"They're hard people to get along with, those brothers," former lead singer Sammy Hagar told The Associated Press on Friday. "Otherwise I'd still be in the band.

Hagar said he was surprised a delay took "this long" to even occur. "I predicted this was going to happen a lot sooner," Hagar said. "I lost money on that bet!"

Well, in an effort to quell the naysayers like Hagar, Roth himself has attributed the tour delay to an overly aggressive schedule.

"As usual, we bit off way more than we could chew when it came to scheduling," Roth says in a new video, entitled "Public Relations," that finds him standing near a creek in the woods with his dog, Russell. "The band is winning, but our schedule has been sidelined for unnecessary roughness."

Roth, wearing sunglasses and overalls, as you do when you're in the woods with a dog, displays his normal level of intense elocution -- for more of that mannered diction, check out any old aircheck of Roth's failed radio show -- while also dropping loopy one-liners about the band learning to speak Australian.

Per the lead singer, Van Halen is prepared to rock for the next two years.

"We have in mind a supersize, monster-truck-rally Van-Halen tractor-pull sort of event," Roth says in the clip. "And we're going to be bringing that back around through the United States." Godspeed, DLR. Godspeed.

ya know what would solve this problem.....

wait for it....

Gary Cherone

not only does he get along with everyone, his personality is invigorating! He's like an IV of Red Bull to the souls of the band. They could march on forever behind the shining star that is GARY!

Had this in my running mix tonight and made me curious if people knew about this guy.

.The Ram Jam Band were pioneers of British Northern Soul, featuring a somewhat unique combination of young white English guys and an older black American vocalist. Their guitarist was later in Vinegar Joe with Robert Palmer.

Oh, sorry. I'm familiar with both the song and the Ram Jam Band/Geno, but was posting it because it's so apparent that Diamond Dave got a lot of his schtick from Geno. The delivery is like a blueprint of Dave approach to singing and even the harmonic structure.

Diamond Dave venting about VH's future:http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/q-a-david-lee-roth-vents-about-van-halens-future-20130212Eddie's a badass player, but a colossal bore away from the stage. Dave is the Most Interesting Man in the World. If he's not playing, he's on African Safari, or learning new languages, or working as an EMT in NYC, or acting in Tokyo...god ####### bless David Lee Roth.

Clearly, vocals are every bit as much a component of success as a rhythm section or a guitar solo, and there's an old expression saying, "They don't go home singing the lighting show, they don't go home singing the production." You're right, they sing my words and my melodies. And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that's intentionally.
I thought that was going to be all about Dave but nice of him to give some respect to Michael Anthony.

VH has tons of great bootlegs and demos out there. I probably have over 100 of them from 75-84. Pretty wild to hear them play a lot of these covers (ZZ Top, Kiss, Led Zep, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Bad Company, David Bowie, etc.)

Happy Birthday Diamond Dave!

Let's Get Rockin' was my favorite out of the ones I hadn't heard yet.

I just hope they recorded Roth on a good night. If you saw some of the shows early in the tour, he was great. But I also saw several youtube shows where he sounded AWFUL (and this is my all time favorite front man we are talking about) The band sounded amazing every night though.

I saw them in Orlando and Jacksonville on the first pass and he sounded great. Second time through Orlando, we had a luxury box. I was well lubed by beer and tequila and ready to rock when the first notes came from his lips and my face looked like Tony Jabroni's avatar from "Airplane" : http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showuser=254

I have to believe they'll work some studio engineering magic to re-work some vocals. I also have to believe this means a summer tour is on the way. :banned:

The new live album drops next week. Live From Tokyo. The band is on fire from the clips I've heard. DLR is all over the place - some good, some not so much.

And the 2015 tour has been announced - outdoor amphitheaters. I'm hoping to catch at least two of the shows - perhaps three if things break right. I'm not about to let a shaky DLR keep me away from seeing them again. He's still entertaining and the band rocks as hard as ever IMO.
