It could have been much worse. And at least the band didn't look they wanted to kill each other.
Dave is awful now. Since he's no longer "30-year old Karate Kick Diamond Dave", and his voice is prettywell shot, he almost seems uncomfortable up there. Like he doesn't know what to do with himself.
He almost did another faceplant on one of those moves.Looks like he belongs in a lounge act or something, very hard to watch thisDave is awful now. he has become even though the indian holler was a nice touch.Happened to be in Hollywood and saw the Kimmel show - made me glad I didn't pay to see them.Dave is awful now. "Like ####### Hiawatha, right?"
See, now that's Van Halen. Part performance art. The Sammy years were ok pop music and all, but let's not confuse that with anything remarkable. Needed more Motorhead, less Celine Dion.VH should pull a Journey and just replace Dave with someone else.
That would be very un-Van Halen-like.VH should pull a Journey and just replace Dave with someone else.

Dave looks insane and sounds horrible. They should all join Hagar down in Cabo, drink tequila and retire for good. This is just embarrassing, worse than a lounge act.
No question. Doesn't make seeing this any easier to take.We should all be so lucky to look that good in our 60's though.
The new disc is pretty awesome. Listening to it in the car, volume cranked, windows down, the live Van Halen experience is so great. Dave is Dave. The band is as tight as ever, and Wolf's harmonies are very good. It's amazing how Eddie is at the top of his game at 60, especially given the long road he has traveled. Live VH is an awesome concert experience, and the new disc is a pretty good representation of that. If someone wants to get hung up on Dave being weird and his voice being a shell of it once was, that's fine. VH to me has always been about the party.DLR has always sounded awful live. Not sure what the big surprise is. His timing is off in the Kimmel performance however it reminded me of many past drunk performances. Sounded like vintage live VH to me.
His performance does seem a bit forced though vocals aside. If he just pulled up a stool and sat there people would be complaining they want Diamond Dave. We should all be so lucky to look that good in our 60's though.
Once again the band sounded great and DLR was terrible.VH killed it last night opening the Billboard awards show. Killed. It.
Dave has looked and acted creepy for the past 25 years. I shudder to think of what you might find in his browser history.Big VH fan, but the DLR experiment has run it's course.
He's always been bad live, but now he is horrible sounding, cant remember lyrics (ok, he never could) and he looks awkward (creepy?) on stage.

A few years ago Dave hired the guitarist from a Van Halen tribute band. Maybe Eddie should return the favor and hire their singer?DLR needs to retire. At this point I wouldn't mind if VH went the Journey route and found a singer that sounds like DLR from the first run of the band.
Maybe they could ask back Gary Cherone?A few years ago Dave hired the guitarist from a Van Halen tribute band. Maybe Eddie should return the favor and hire their singer?DLR needs to retire. Well, thanks a friggin' lot!My VH enjoyment diminished severely when someone pointed out how much Alex's cymbal usage overpowers most of their catalog. Now it's all I hear.
Someone please get an isolated vocal track. That would be pretty funny.Once again the band sounded great and DLR was terrible.VH killed it last night opening the Billboard awards show. Killed. It.
A tribute to Montrose would be nice. EVH could take Ronny's place.Sammy can still sing really well...

I've always noticed that during certain songs. Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do is a glaring example. All of those cymbal crashes during the choruses are so distracting, which is a shame considering the snare work there is very nice.My VH enjoyment diminished severely when someone pointed out how much Alex's cymbal usage overpowers most of their catalog. Sure, but it's like a party where one guy is running around yelling and acting like a ##### the whole time. That is what Roth's live voice is akin to. Just awful. The new disc is pretty awesome. This should end really well right before a tour starts.

I'm not the biggest Sammy Hagar fan in the world, but God bless him for defending Mike like that."Every note Mike ever played, I had to show him how to play," Eddie claimed. "Before we'd go on tour, he'd come over with a video camera and I'd have to show him how to play all the parts." Van Halen also downplayed the role Anthony's harmonic backing vocals play in creating the group's signature sound. "Mike's voice is like a piccolo trumpet. But he's not a singer. He just has a range from hell," Eddie said. "Mike was just born with a very high voice. I have more soul as a singer than he does. And you know, people always talk about Mike's voice on VAN HALEN songs, but that’s a blend of Mike's voice and my voice. It's not just him."
Yeah, that was absurd. That was Yahoo! front page stuff. This should end really well right before a tour starts.

Not one of the top 5 or even top 20...but to say he doesn't have skills is ridiculous.Hagar is drunk if he really thinks that Anthony is a top rock bass player, but he is sticking up for his buddy, and he deserves mad props for that.
EVH is a ######## of Axl Rose proportions.![]()

Lol I think you may have just proved EVH's point. Not one of the top 5 or even top 20...but to say he doesn't have skills isHagar is drunk if he really thinks that Anthony is a top rock bass player, but he is sticking up for his buddy, and he deserves mad props for that.

Meh, a ####ty bassist wouldn't even attempt a bass solo in concert. Not one of the top 5 or even top 20...but to say he doesn't have skills isHagar is drunk if he really thinks that Anthony is a top rock bass player, but he is sticking up for his buddy, and he deserves mad props for that.

I'd be OK with that, but I'm one of 7 maybe 8 people who liked that album.Maybe they could ask back Gary Cherone? Can't really be any worse at this point.A few years ago Dave hired the guitarist from a Van Halen tribute band.
