Took a similar approach to The Turk himself.I know Drinen's busy and doesn't really participate in the thread anymore, but if he's reading, I'd love for him to pop in and discuss his strategy this year.
I love the Turk's entry and I actually keep waiting for the moment he shows up on the roster of heroes (I thought this might be the week as I didn't remember his exact rooster). Seems to be paying off for him so farTook a similar approach to The Turk himself.I know Drinen's busy and doesn't really participate in the thread anymore, but if he's reading, I'd love for him to pop in and discuss his strategy this year.
Long Live The Turk!!!I tried to do something similar this year, only with a 3rd WR and also selected a stud K & DEF:Still alive here.
I don't think I will contend for this thing, but I'm really liking the 2 stud RB theory. Rice/McCoy have scored for me every week. If I would have taken the $7 I used for carrying their backups and put it into some other flyers, I would feel much better.
So for next year:
2 QB (1 stud, 1 bargain)
2 stud RB
2 stud WR
2 stud TE
3 cheap kickers and D's
any flyers/bargains I can fit in.
I briefly considered this QB strategy, but opted against it in the end because I thought you'd get better production from a Stud QB and 1 or 2 cheapies.Took a similar approach to The Turk himself.I know Drinen's busy and doesn't really participate in the thread anymore, but if he's reading, I'd love for him to pop in and discuss his strategy this year.
That is an interesting distribution. I have 19 guys not on bye. That's a bit deceptive though, since I have Amendola and Benson. And 4 of my "active" players are Blackmon, Little, Lafell, and Driver. So basically I have 13 players. My biggest concern is the fact that 50% (1 of 2) of my PK and Def are on byes. I also only have 3 RBs dressing this week and one of them is a back-up, albeit one who has a higher chance than most back-ups of finding the endzone (M. Bush).Week 7 didn't project as a really tough one for me a few weeks ago, but now it clearly is. That's why I'm amazed at the confidence some guys seem to have in their teams going forward. All I'm doing is hoping 1000 teams struggle more than me.This only accounts for byes, not injuries:Hope Iggy or someone can give us "True" roster sizes for this week. (that is how many are playing vs how many on bye, and injured if possible). This will be the truly nervous week for a lot of folks, myself included.-QGCode:TRUESIZE ALIVE 8 1 <--- 1125989 410 2611 4612 18213 33314 55115 73116 72917 60518 48019 37120 25221 22722 16223 13124 7925 5626 2227 928 329 1 <--- 102578
Simple explanation....he has "Luck' on his sideThis guy has now survived the cut three times by less than 1 point:

With Carlson kicking in a huge 2.20 points for me this week during Graham's bye, Royster's the only guy I haven't used yet. Definitely would have taken Morris instead if he were available, but if his $3 go to waste, it's not the worst pick in the world. With Benson out and Royster doing nothing, I'm hoping Mendenhall can get healthy and pick up the slack for the bargain basement RB's on my roster, at least for Foster's bye, which could be my biggest risk week. That would make the combined $10 for these 3 RB's a good value. So far I've used at least 1 of the 3 (really of 2 with no Royster use yet) every elimination week.Based on the byes it looks more like "Show us your Roysters" this week-QG
He is now overdue for a dud though.Alive despite my flex dude giving me 4.6 points.Thank you Aaron Rodgers for getting your dud games out of the way early during easier weeks and saving your stud games for the tough bye weeks.
He's only projected to score like 480 points this year. Depends on your team setup. My studs have already had their byes (Brees, Forte, DMC, Marshall, Calvin). The remaining bye-weeks of my 2nd tier players are all spread out so that they aren't really a concern. Barring injury or just a completely terrible week I should be looking good until the bye weeks end. That is an interesting distribution. I have 19 guys not on bye. pfft, that's every week for me.Week 1 - RB2 5.40Week 2 - RB2 6.10, flex 7.10Week 3 - RB2 5.40Week 4 - RB2 4.90Week 5 - RB1 6.10, RB2 4.40, flex 6.80, TE 0.00Week 6 - RB2 18.8!!, Flex 8.30 - woohooAlive despite my flex dude giving me 4.6 points.
I kind of thought he's in trouble this week. Only 2 significant RBs - Rice @ Hous and Lynch @ SFPretty good looking team.I never can pick em like that.http://subscribers.f...2012/102838.phpWhat team still alive has the highest average through all 6 weeks?
Nah, Manning only knelt twice and lost a single yard:
1-10-SD33 (:52) P.Manning kneels, dead ball declared at SD 33 for no gain. 2-10-SD33 (:20) P.Manning kneels, dead ball declared at SD 34 for -1 yards.
True. I didn't really need all 6 of those TDs either. He could have thrown 5 and still kept me safe. Wish he would've saved that extra TD for a week I'll need it more.He is now overdue for a dud though.Alive despite my flex dude giving me 4.6 points.Thank you Aaron Rodgers for getting your dud games out of the way early during easier weeks and saving your stud games for the tough bye weeks.
This could be the week we find out. Both with only StaffordFoster vs. RidleyBryant/Wallace/Britt/Henderson vs. Fitz/Marshall/Garcon(Q)Olsen/Allen vs. Bennett/Davis2K vs. 2K2D vs. 3DWe could both use big weeks from Stafford, McFadden, and Julio. Only one other team with those 3 and McCoy and he looks to be in worse shape than us this week.I have 3Ks and 3Ds. I have Gates vs. Olsen. I like my WRs a bit more with Fitz/Marshall/Garcon.Other than that it's Ridley vs. Foster. We're similar. If anybody thinks they can top this squad, I would be interested in seeing it. I pretty much hit all on all of my key guys based on week 1 action.
Matthew Stafford $26 LeSean McCoy $32 Darren McFadden $26 Stevan Ridley $16 Jonathan Dwyer $4 Cedric Benson $3 Larry Fitzgerald $25 Julio Jones $23 Brandon Marshall $22 Pierre Garcon $14 Justin Blackmon $7 Danny Amendola $6 Antonio Gates $20 Martellus Bennett $4 Kellen Davis $4 Adam Vinatieri $3 Matt Prater $3 Rian Lindell $3 Jacksonville Jaguars $3 Carolina Panthers $3 Washington Redskins $3I like Foster over Ridley, though. I'm in a similar bind. I lose a ton of players this week, especially RBs.My running back position for week 7 is terrible. With Murray, Benson and probably Mendenhall out, McGahee on bye, andJennings (worst $9 wasted) doing nothing, I've got M. Lynch and hoping that Mendenhall plays this week. I almostforgot, with Ryan on bye, Cutler is my QB.Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Some good news for you.1. Six teams are on a bye this week. Scoring will be low.2. 1278 teams have Julio. 25%3. 1796 have Ryan. 33%4. 3155 have Benson. 60+%20% get cut this week. More people will be crippled this week missing players than teams will be cut.I'm in a similar bind. I lose a ton of players this week, especially RBs.My running back position for week 7 is terrible. Manning knelt for a one-yard loss to end the first half also.-QG
Good analysis. I bet there were more than a few teams with Nicks that got eliminated this week. I passed on him at $21 due to his preseason comment about playing in pain. Otherwise I probably would have paired him with Green too. With Brees on a bye, it really came down to Locker for you. He had arguably the most upside for any of the QBs at $9 or less. I chose Luck as my #2 behind Brees and he bombed this week. But as luck would have it, I also added Tannehill due to the Rams matchup and the $4 price tag. That said, I think you can make a very compelling argument for only going with 2 QBs in this contest. For the guys that only went with 1 QB, I think that strategy carries far too much risk. Even if you make it through the bye week, you can't survive missed games due to injury or that one dud per season that every stud QB puts up. And a cheap QB2 might be good enough to carry you if the rest of your team hits.I'm out too this week. Was a lot closer than I thought I'd be to making the cut this week since Brees was on bye and Locker was hurt, but Felix Jones finally showed up and Green and Gresham both had nice contributions. Fell just short in the end, don't think I had enough fire power to make much of a dent in the finals anyway. A quick review of my strategy:QB: Brees/Locker Still feel okay about this. Got burned because Locker got hurt and missed Brees bye, that's the breaks. Next year I'd consider taking the money spent on locker and splitting it into 2 QBs.RB: S.Jackson/D.Martin/Lynch/R.Williams/F.Jones/McCluster/BensonThis is probably my real down fall. Don't feel like I hit on any of these. Jackson and Martin were okay, but not worth the price tag. Lynch was the closest thing to a hit for him. Totally wiffed on Williams. Felix could have turned into a nice score if I survived. McCluster and Benson were both solid values, but not really difference making.WR: Green/Nicks/St.Johnson/LaFell/Blackmon/J.Baldwin/A.Roberts/M.ThomasHappy with this group overall. Green is a stud. I believe in Nicks talent and would take him again, injury did hurt a bit. St.Johnson was solid not spectacular. LaFell had some decent moments. Blackmon, Baldwin and Thomas were all busts. Roberts was a great value.TE: Gresham/KellerI'm fine with Gresham, maybe a little disappointed but I wasn't expecting Graham/Gronkowski numbers from him. Just solid week to week scores and he pretty much gave me that. Keller was a bust since he only played 2 games. Wouldn't have changed this though if I had to do it over again, still believe in thier talent.PK: Gould/BarthGot 13+ points in every week except this one (which would have made a difference since I only got 8). A 3rd kicker could have made a difference but still don't think it was worth $3.Def: Jets/ChiefsJets did alright scoring some TD's. They had 2 this week that were called back on penalties. I wiffed on the Chiefs.Best of luck to all you guys
I find this fascinating in terms of the # of QBs on your team. If the value is the $ amount spent regardless of size, then you can definitely make the argument for taking 3 QBs and diversifying your risk of injuries (especially if you end in the sweet spot which appears to be $40 - 45 range). In terms of my team, I only spent $31 on 3 QBs, so I'm worried for my team's longevity...'Ignoratio Elenchi said:

Right, you would look for $32 along the bottom, horizontal axis, and then find the corresponding survival rate on the vertical axis. Alternately you could simply plug $32 into the equation of the fitted curve: -0.0002(32)2 + 0.0159(32) + 0.0429 ~= 34.7%Maybe early morning but can't figure this out. I disagree to a certain extent. I think QB will go a long way to separating teams in the final 250. It may or may not have as significant an impact in the survivor-portion of the contest, but at 6 pts per passing TD a hot QB for weeks 14-16 can be huge. No other position has the potential for 12 TDs in a 3-game stretch. To be sure, QB performance isn't the same thing as $$ spent on QBs, but I think QB will be the single most critical position to teams in the final 250.I only spent $22 on QB (Flacco & Luck @ $11 each)This contest will be won on strong RB/WR/TE play not how much someone spends on QB.
I agree that QB is probably the most important position heading into the final 250, but looking at the week 14-16 schedules, there are a few less expensive QBs ($21 or less) that could carry a team to the top. Ryan and RG3 owners that make it will probably have an edge assuming they picked well at the other positions. The Manning brothers are also probably going to light it up those weeks. But I don't see more than a handful of QBs that could match or exceed 40pt games from Brees or Rodgers during that stretch. I would be very surprised if a team with a QB1 like Flacco wins this contest.I disagree to a certain extent. I think QB will go a long way to separating teams in the final 250. I agree. I think this is largely that that the money you save with those two cheap options (say difference of $10-$20)isn't going to be a limiting factor in the top 250 as sheer numbers will allow some small stud rosters to sneak by. But that extra money may help you get to the final 250, so while it may have been smart to skimp on QBs to get to the top 250; you are going to need some studly performances in weeks 14-16 in order to win, which imho Flacco and to a lesser extent Luck do not seem all that capable of. -Signed $30 at QB (Ryan & Luck)I agree that QB is probably the most important position heading into the final 250, but looking at the week 14-16 schedules, there are a few less expensive QBs ($21 or less) that could carry a team to the top.
