**Official 2014 MLB Regular Season-All over but the shouting (2 Viewers)

Masterson thoroughly out pitched Gray tonight. Handled scramble mode well, but a lot of hard hit balls bounced right for Oakland.

Heh...watched four games today and the seven runs scored in the Tigers Royals game were more than three times more than the other three games combined so far.

I still cant get over Vladimir Guerrero breaking Don Baylor's leg with a ceremonial first pitch... Don Baylor, the same guy who leads MLB with career HBP.

OK I didnt know about this. Best wishes to Baylor

Baylor, 64, is a survivor of multiple myeloma, a cancer that attacks bone marrow. He was diagnosed with the cancer in 2003, and he is active in fundraising efforts to combat the disease.

These Brewer fans deserve whatever they get, how do you cheer a lying ******* like that on opening day?
Reminds me of when Yankee fans gave standing ovations to Giambi and ARod after they first came back from the steroid admissions. Like ok you can support the guy for being honest (well at least Giambi), but they were actually getting cheered MORE than anybody else. These guys aren't children, they don't need our support through thick and thin. How about making them earn back some trust and admiration? Ridiculous.

I love how baseball doubles down on the excitement of opening day with absolutely no daytime games and only half the teams in action.

They scheduled open dates so they can makeup opening day if necessary. Opening day is still a big money maker.

Regular daytime games are dicey in most markets until schools let out.
Don't let this get in the way of Cappy dogging MLB. He's got it all figured out and everyone involved is just trying to catch up.

I was happy to see him go.

Hope the Seattle fans enjoy his leisurely jogs to 1st.
How ironic was it that his first hit as a Mariner was an infield single?

Bunch of sour grapes from Yankee fans.

Why the F does Mattingly bat Dee Gordon 8th, again tonight against a righty? So the pitcher can but him over if he gets on base? Makes literally ZERO sense.

You have Ethier who's terrible batting 5th. Put Dee in the 1 or 2 hole, drop everyone down 1 and deepen that lineup. Take advantage of the only thing he actually does well.

So maddening.

Like I said earlier. Opening night on Friday. Games all day on the weekend.

They did this a couple years ago (might have been a Thursday night game then games Fri-Sun). It was pretty awesome.

So, you want to bat the crappiest hitter in the lineup more often? Sound strategy.

He's apparently improved his plate discipline and approach at the plate. If you're going to bat tbe guy 8th, u might as well play Justin Turner. It's mindless to bat Dee 8th. Btw it's the 2nd game of the year! Confidence can do wonders if he gets off to a hot start.

you should check out Ethier's splits vs righties too.

Confidence is no substitute for ability. And a crappy player can improve and still be crappy.

Dee should be batting ninth though. For the reasons you mentioned. Put a real bat behind him for the rare times he is on base.

where there's smoak, there's.........fire?

Worth an add? 6 RBI in 11 innings this season... Cano was walked in front of him, figure you could see a lot of that. That Ballpark worries me though...

Bruce Bochy uses his challenge on a pick-off play, lost, then two plays later Giants nail a guy at the plate and he was called safe. Managers will likely become more selective in their challenges I think, each are learning the nuances as we go.

more worried about his bat vs lefties than the ballpark.

Great crowds in Montreal for Jays/Mets. Time to move a Florida team there...
Attendance in exhibition game 1 in Montreal: 46,121 (there were over 50, 000 in game 2). Combined attendance in Rays first two games: 42,155.
Super. They're still not going anywhere. Also, pretty dumb comparison. Montreal hasn't had a game in 10 years and who knows when they'll get another. Of course those 2 games would be hot tickets.

What's up with 31K for the home opener for being a sellout? Are those tarped off sections never sold? Should be a higher capacity for that stadium, no?
