I was behind after Group Stage so I went with Argentina to win it all. First place is ~750 bucks. Assuming Germany to be a slight favorite, what would be an appropriate offer for a chop? 400/350? Or am I gonna have to guarantee a little more to the guy that has the favorite?

That's a pretty good offer... though he may insist on more.

Given the odds I think 300/450 is more likely to be accepted.

What a flopper.

Difficult to argue that was a game saving tackle. All game it seemed Robbin was taking one to many dribbles. If he shoots one dribble before, no slide stop. Couple others he dribbled one too many times.

Was he MOTM? Lavezzi looked dangerous here and there, but thought Masch had a fantastic match.

The Netherlands had 3 guys run in on Messi when he got the ball. No reason why the Germans won't do the same or something similar. I could see Germany do to Argentina what they did to Brazil. My heart doesn't think so but if that happens, I won't be surprised.

Argentina might have to do a 4-3-2-1 formation or something just to withstand the attack.

Part of it was stadium size.

Part of it was our melting pot

Plenty games in those 5 WC's did not sell out so their attendance totals were not limited by sell outs.

What the US did with incredibly low profile games like Saudi Arabia vs Morocco could not be duplicated at any other WC no matter the stadium size imo.

Watching El Jefecito boss the midfield in this tournament has only increased my anger at Barcelona's flat refusal to sign any defender for years while now implementing this horribly mutated version of their own 'Galactico' plan, which has had the consequence of putting Mascherano in the back four. Luis Enrique needs to encourage Busquets to learn to play center back while telling Masch he's never playing anywhere else but DM for the Blaugrana. Hell, with him at DM, Barcelona might not need to sign any center backs. He has been simply outstanding in the knockout rounds, Argentina's best player since they began.

Busquets is still the better DM in my book. They need to sign a CB and play them together. That way it will be less costly when the fullbacks forget they're fullbacks.

The latter. Xavi isn't coming back. Busquets can be the distributor.

Yep was at that game :) It was those sorts of games that casual fans who wanted to see a World Cup match could more easily attend. Wanted to steal one of the Morocco's fans' fez hats.

I like this guy but enough already with the data analysis paralysis. Argentina-Netherlands wasnt one of the top 10 matches. It was a snoozefest and a massive disappointment IMO.

Saw Saudi play twice in DC against Netherlands and Belgium - no real recollection of either game. Most fun I had at a game was the 1996 Olympic semi-final between Nigeria and Brazil - Nigeria pulled the upset, but the crowd was very festive throughout the game.

*to be filed under "only in America" - the biggest story of the Atlanta Games was not the play on the field, but the fact that they had to tear up the Hedges in Athens to make the field wide enough, so they could host the semi's and Gold Medal game. You would have thought they required all players to kick Uga before each match.

KSA scored a nice goal against Belgium during the groups. It was one of the goals of the tournament.
