Ozil, BFG, Schurrle, maybe a Podolski sighting for Germany. Aguero, Zabaleta, and Demichelis for Argentina.Any significant EPL players involved in the final?
"The great-grandfather of Christian Karembeu, who came from New Caledonia, was one of the hundred islanders taken to Paris and exhibited there as "cannibals" by the French people. Later the "cannibals" were swapped with Germany for some crocodiles.[9]"
Guivarc'h is French for FredForgotton player from the 98 French team. Also started for Real Madrid in the 98 Final (alongside Roberto Carlos)
Guivarc'h
Djorkaeff
Petit ??? Zidane
Deschamps
That was my next guess...........
Deschamps, Karembeu, Vieira, Petit, Makalele
Yes. What killed them in the 2010 final was giving up an early goal to Germany. That forced them into a more attacking and risky strategy, and opened it up for German scores. Their defense has been solid so far, not having conceded a goal in the last 373 minutes of play. Germany has to be favored, but if it is still 0-0 in the second half, anything could happen.I think they will have to defend as well as they have in the last two matches. They gave up a total of 7 shots on goal against Belgium and the Netherlands and will need to remain as organized as they've been in the knockout round. Germany should want to take the game to them more, so hopefully Argentina will be able to successfully counterattack them and nick a goal or two against the run of play.I want Argentina to win. Their 4-0 loss in 2010 is on every Argentine's mind and could be repeated without surprise. What is the best game plan to not repeat that performance, besides Messi having the match of his career?

Right. I remembered it wrong, but then I realized it wasn't the 2010 final, that was Spain-Netherlands.quarterfinalYes. What killed them in the 2010 final was giving up an early goal to Germany. You got me there.I've probably watched more soccer than you have gay porn.Did you pick based upon the color of their uniforms? That's how Jennifer won our March madness office pool.Coach Christo would be proud of me, one of the very few at FBG who had Deutschland/Argentina final.![]()

Is that the same record that had England going through and Argentina getting knocked out super early? You know your #### when you aren't being a homer/hater. Not so much the other way. I'm sure I can trust you on this….Van Gaal really blew it for Holland today.
Started two questionable players with fitness issues and was forced to make changes. Probably would have rather preferred Krul in net for pks - even after JVG stated himself that both other keepers were stronger in pk's than Cillejson (sp)
Not that the Dutch keeper blew the pks.....but Krul would have been preferred.
Oh, and throwing out Vlaar as your first pk taker.uke:
I root for Germany, and think they should be pretty strong favorites.
Argie was held by a long in the tooth, beat up Dutch squad with their captain obviously in the middle of his period.
Germans are fully healthy. Should be a decided advantage.
Put me on the record of saying Germans win this convincingly.
Further humiliating the Brazilias with these comments….Rafael Hernández @RafaelH117 21m
Hummels and Bierhoff revealed that at half time Germans agreed to go easy on Brazil to no humiliate them further at home.
Except that no one else on Argentina has stepped up, so Germany can afford to have Shwein, Kheidra, and Kroos blanket Messi and win the game 8 v 10. It is getting embarrassing how little anyone else from Argentina has shown up.Should be a good game. Germany probably won't feel like they can't play with Argentina, so hopefully they won't put five guys around Messi and we'll actually have some offense.
beacuse #### you, that's why.Speaking of embarrassing, why is this site useless from midnight to 1am Pacific time? There has to be a good number of West Coast posters on this site. Why not slow it down from like 2-3am Pacific?
not sure what you're getting at here....yes I'm an unabashed Argentina hater. But I'm also a pretty practical soccer fan.Is that the same record that had England going through and Argentina getting knocked out super early? For all the star power they have, Argentina has produced some of the most boring games in the knock out rounds, including yesterday.Except that no one else on Argentina has stepped up, so Germany can afford to have Shwein, Kheidra, and Kroos blanket Messi and win the game 8 v 10. something something something something...
Javier Mascherano explains his agony after the block on Robben: "I tore my ######. That was why I was in pain. I don't want to be rude..."
The health of DiMaria and Aguero certainly hurts things. Higuain and Lavezzi have not been playing the best.CletiusMaximus said:For all the star power they have, Argentina has produced some of the most boring games in the knock out rounds, including yesterday.Sebowski said:Except that no one else on Argentina has stepped up, so Germany can afford to have Shwein, Kheidra, and Kroos blanket Messi and win the game 8 v 10. DiMaria it seems was a huge loss for them. I'd be interested if someone felt competent to compare Messi's supporting cast to Maradona's, just for fun. I was in Germany in 1986 and saw most every game, but was even more clueless back then on the game than I am now. I remember a few guys like Burruchaga, Valdano and Batista but have no idea how they compare to the current cast surrounding Messi.
What is Aguero's status? 90% or something like that? The health of DiMaria and Aguero certainly hurts things. However, overall, Argentina is playing pretty defensively and doing surprisingly well at it. That has been the backbone of their run and it will be interesting to see if it holds up versus Germany.
