I would like to know why he'll be suspended at all following the 15 games he missed last year after being acquitted!

I named the source so that everyone could make their own judgment and know that this was not from an established news network like ESPN.I don't think it's any more or less legitimate than a post here. That is to say, it's some guy on what is essentially an internet message board making assumptions/guesses about things, many of which can't be backed up by evidence or real sources in any way.I don't get the humor. Is football guys the premier message board while reddit can't be trusted? would it have really made such a difference if that post was posted here first instead of at reddit? Please explain legitimately want to understand your rationaleJetMaxx said:reddit? Ok.Found this in in a reddit thread regarding Hardy case. Pretty interesting:
Lenient? I followed this case ready to throw the book at him, and after following the entire case from start to finish I came away convinced that the entire episode was a farce.
Consider the following:
- Aside from the girl, the only witness attesting to her version of events is a neighbor in the building who admitted she saw nothing and only heard a lot of banging and screaming.
- The cop on the scene saw nothing and the girl avoided him entirely as she admitted she was carrying cocaine and was both inebriated and doped up at the time.
- Hardy placed his own 911 call asking for a police response Only days before, Hardy had maneuvered to have the girl's crap taken away form his house by tricking her into going to Miami
- The friend who came with the girl testified on Hardy's behalf, specifying that the accuser told her that she wanted to get back at Hardy for kicking her out of his place
- The North Carolina judicial system is a ####ed up railroading calamity. The entire reason Hardy was "found guilty" is because to keep poor people from having their rightful jury trials the state forces cases to go through a bench trial first, and then only people who can afford appeals actually get their due process with a jury. THIS IS AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION
- There's no actual physical evidence of an assault taking place. Bruises can be self-inflicted or caused by engaging in offensive fighting; aside from that, there's no eyewitnesses or video or pictures substantiating the claims in question.
- The judge in this case is a renowned member of anti-domestic violence organizations, and she could not be trusted to be impartial as she specifically requested to adjudicate the case
- The judge herself admitted the only reason she found Hardy guilty was because of the testimony of the neighbor who didn't see anything, saying that she had nothing to gain by her actions. SHE DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING.
- What the girl accused Hardy of ranged from getting her arm stuck in a toilet lid to being thrown onto a bed of assault rifles to getting her arm broken to miraculously her arm is fine and it was really her shoulder that he broke to OK the shoulder's fine, I just have some bruises your honor. . .
The problem is you quoting it as a "source" and deciding it is somehow conclusive proof of anything. It's just another post here with someone, likely biased, trying to convince themselves and everyone else of something that they think/hope is true.
that's the rumor but it seems like overkill after being suspended 15 games already. So essentially when players get accused and then acquitted, they're still on the hook for 21 games.moondog said:Under the old NFL personal conduct policy a player could be suspended up to six games. Under the new policy it can be more.
Hardy is likely to be suspended six games. Which is why Tampa Bay dropped out and Dallas basically only has to pay Hardy for games played.

What's AD's suspension looking like?
He was not acquitted. He was found guilty by the judge in the bench trial. He then requested a jury trial which had to be dismissed when his girlfriend quit cooperating with DA's office after she was paid a $$ settlement by Hardy.I would like to know why he'll be suspended at all following the 15 games he missed last year after being acquitted!
and that's my only real issue with this. AD was convicted of something, Hardy was not.he wasn't suspended. You're right. Legal differences but the end result is the same.He was not acquitted. He was found guilty by the judge in the bench trial. Highly unlikely. Without a cooperating victim, a prosecutor often won't proceed. Even if he could force her to testify, there's no guarantee what she would say.Things in Hardy's favor, at least in my book. (Btw I still think he made some very questionable decisions)
1. Evidently you have to go through bench trial in North Carolina before you can go through a jury trial. So it's not like he chose the bench trial, didn't like the results and then chose a jury.
2. The State think so little of these bench trials that they don't even have a stenographer (is that the word?) Hardy brought his own.
3.He was only convicted of a misdemeanor.
4.A settlement with his accuser would only preclude her from filing a civil case. Her choice to not show up for the criminal case is her own doing and separate. It leaves the strong impression that all she wanted was some cash.
4. If the DA thought he had a strong case he could have found her and I expect would have considering the fame he would have gotten for busting a big time nfl athlete.
5. This argument that as long as the player got paid they were not punished is bogus. Players play for more than a paycheck and their career has a very limited life to achieve those other goals. He had one of his prime years taken away which affects him monetarily as well as in other ways.
Hardy the victim here, right? Poor guy. Hope he gonna be alright. This isn't a case of "we still love each other or "i am too scared to testify". This is her not bothering to show up. That's different in my mind. That throws her whole testimony into question for me.

To me both scenarios: one where Hardy was targeted and one where he was the abuser are equally plausible. I find it hard to believe that a casual observer can make a definitive judgement either way. With that being said Hardy was suspended 15 games so I believe its time to move forward. It's a case of the lady got paid and all is good in her book.Hardy the victim here, right? Poor guy. I'd believe both happened. Yeah, I'm presuming a lot but it's entirely possible she wanted money or just to be with a player so she targeted hardy. In regard to Murray's contract telling you everything you needed to know about the new approach, would it change things if the Cowboys swapped over a 3rd and a 4th to MIN to pick up AP's massive contract?I personally don't wish to discuss the Hardy case or the moral aspects about it. I am confident we did our due diligence about the player and were comfortable the risk associated with him.
There is still a part of me that wonders if we are quietly still sitting in the weeds for AP. I have heard today that AD has refused a meeting with the Minny GM and things are getting tense there. I think Minnesota will get a pick for him, but I think they are crazy thinking that pick is going to be a First or Second. Nobody does that deal.
The other signings were all good imo...and at good contracts. I give our front office a ton of credit over the last 18 months. We are finally making smart decisions and running this team with a level headed and disciplined approach to football operations. The Murray contract told me everything I needed to know about this new approach.
Anyone know when the schedule comes out? My memory is telling me first week of April?
I highly doubt they take AP at his current contract and the rest we will agree to disagree. In regard to Murray's contract telling you everything you needed to know about the new approach, would it change things if the Cowboys swapped over a 3rd and a 4th to MIN to pick up AP's massive contract?I personally don't wish to discuss the Hardy case or the moral aspects about it. There sure does seem to be a lot of rationalizing the dissonance here with the Hardy signing. Due diligence means the team likes his talents and his contract number and doesn't care that he's a psychopath.
Your an amazing doctor, better than Dr. House. To be able to diagnose Hardy by only reading some news articles is quite a feat. Who else in the NFL is a psychopath or did you simply come here to troll? In regard to Murray's contract telling you everything you needed to know about the new approach, would it change things if the Cowboys swapped over a 3rd and a 4th to MIN to pick up AP's massive contract?I personally don't wish to discuss the Hardy case or the moral aspects about it. Who do you like in the 3rd?Liking the RBs in this draft. I think we can get a good one in the 3rd.
One thing I think you might be missing on is QB. Even though Jerry says he thinks Romo will play 5 more years, I don't think that's likely. If one of the 2nd tier QB's the Cowboys rate highly slides to them in say the 3rd or 4th, I would not be surprised to see the Cowboys get someone they are going to groom. Even if you think Weeden may have some potential, his age makes it unlikely that he will be the QB of the future.Ok...here is my first stab at our mock. I will post a final 7 rounder in late April.
Draft needs ranked by order:
CB
RB
DE
DT
LB
OT
WR
Round 1 - I predict Gurley/Gordon off the board, otherwise that will be the pick. I am not as high on Gordon as other fans though.
That leaves...Odighizuwa DE, Johnson CB, Goldman DT and Kendricks LB as possibilities.
We take Kevin Johnson CB, Wake Forest. Great zone CB, 4.52 40 with decent size. Great in coverage and aggressive with ball skills.
Round 2
My pet Jay Ajayi is also likely gone before 60 :( . We look at: Duke Johnson RB, David Johnson RB, Michael Bennett DT and Mario Edwards Jr DE.
We take Bennett all day here. Good rotational guy and 3rd down rusher from the inside. Perfect scheme fit.
Round 3
Time for a RB? Don't panic. We consider: David Cobb RB, TJ Yeldon RB, Daryl Wiiliams OT and Denzrl Perryman LB.
Yeldon is the pick.
Interested to hear thoughts on my picks and share your own predictions.

Could be. They may not like anyone in this draft class, or the guy they like may go before they are ready to take him. As we saw this year, there is not a whole lot to get in Free Agency. Or you have to overpay in a trade for a china doll that has upside if he can stay on the field for more than 2 seconds without getting hurt. But that scenario probably only applies to one specific team. Whoever that is.Next year my friend. One thing I think you might be missing on is QB. Cox seems the best risk at CB in this draft IMOIs Marcus Peters a bad risk at CB with our first pick? Sounds like a possible idiot but his football skills at CB are intriguing and sorely needed.
He pulled a hammy during discussions with the doc.The Man With No Name said:Miles Austin in for physical with Eagles and expected to be signed

I agree, there is something really fishy about the whole thing. No question the Cowboys had a private PI do extensive research into the facts before they put millions on the table. They know far more than we ever will about what really happened. That said, the timing is horrible for him to have been accused of DV as the NFL is in save face and zero tolerance mode. However, the fact that he was acquitted would seem to go in his favor. I also believe JJ has had dialog with the league off the record and have a pretty good idea what they are going to do prior to signing him. Hardy's a special rush talent and if he's anything like what he was in 2013 they got themselves a serious edge rushers which is just what the doctor ordered for this defense. I was ashamed to watch Rodgers finish the game on one leg. No way should he have been able to last all four quarters hobbling around like he was. Shameful.I personally don't wish to discuss the Hardy case or the moral aspects about it. I am confident we did our due diligence about the player and were comfortable the risk associated with him.

If you read into it further you'll read about how the judicial system works in NC. He couldn't argue- it wasn't a trial. He was found guilty by a judge and sentenced to a whopping 18 mos. of PROBATION. No jail time.It sure would. He, of course, was found guilty.I agree, there is something really fishy about the whole thing. It wasn't a real trial or anything. A judge reviews the evidence and puts forth a verdict. Hardy couldn't refute any of the evidence or defend himself. Is there a point I am missing? Probation over jail time. So what?
They cleared 12.8M. Peterson is due 12.75 this year. Romo said he would have restructured to keep Murray. Apparently they had other plans.Romo restructures to save $13M. Anyone ready for Peterson in the back field?
