*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (4 Viewers)

At least he Matthews has the right attitude. Hope the week off cleared his head and he's ready to go. Would love to see JMatt and Ertz become two high quality targets for the offense in the second half. Nowhere to go but up?

"Jordan Matthews has sought and received counsel both in-house and out. He’s spoken with Mike Quick and Harold Carmichael. Approached veteran teammates for guidance on how to deal with adversity. And this past Monday, got a bit of advice during a phone call with one of his old running mates, Jeremy Maclin, who has been keeping tabs on the young wideout."

“Just keep playing, keep working,” said Matthews of Maclin’s message. “I think sometimes when you have struggles, when you’re in the midst of it, it’s so easy to forget that you’re not the first person ever to not be playing well, and you’re definitely not the last,” he said. “I can either be upset or I can work my butt off to try and fix the situation.

"There's only two options, it's only black or white, there's no gray area...either you're going to play hard, you're going to get over stuff, or you're not going to."

So, in the first matchup, the Cowboys defense stunted into the gaps like crazy and blew up the running plays before they started.

There was talk that the formation combinations were too predictable and Dallas "knew the play" before it was run.

What does Chip change before meeting #2?
no answers, but this is a :goodposting:

If he can't come up with a scheme to produce offensively, after having them beat us soundly, with a bye week to prepare - that'll tell us a lot. Dallas has a good defense though - I don't see us putting up 48 points regardless. But we need to string together some first downs, flip the field when needed, put up some points here and there.

i was listening to one of the sports radio show and Quick was on talking about it. he said Mathews has been working his ### off, but the issue isn't physical. he said it seemed like confidence and that he just has to work through it. i can imagine that big drop in Atl week 1 started the bad trend

Kaepernick is an arrogant coaches wet dream. A young QB with all the raw, physical talent in the world; who has shown flashes of success in the past yet has fallen on hard times.

He'll be here next year......and I'm fine with that.

Birds 24-22
I'm not sure Dallas can put up that many points without a defensive or S/T TD.
It's almost as if they would need Bradford to throw an interception or something.;-)
He's been known to be willing. lol

I think it will be low scoring. Both have very good defenses. I predicted the score earlier in the week. Not sure exactly what I said, but I'm thinking somewhere in the 20-13 range. (Eagles)

I honestly don't know what to think...I just have random thoughts at the moment....

Dallas being on this losing streak and having a home prime-time game worries me.

Just playing the averages gives me hope we will win...we cant get swept by Dallas, right?

After looking back at the past few weeks I believe our D is close to possible being (gulp) elite. So many guys seem to be getting better and better and the bye came at the right time. We could go on a nasty streak in the next 4 games

This is my season for Bradford. Drops aside, he has an extra week to get his head straight and fix any mental issues. I need to see a leap here.

It's a home primetime game for DAL.....but PHI got spanked the last time they played. Have to figure if PHI has ANY balls or swagger......they punch DAL right in the mouf. PHI 34 DAL 13.

Home primetime game for the Cowboys scares me a little. But while most stars get extra pumped and shine, I can see Cassell getting even more nervous and pressing. He knows how horrible he's been playing. And how much pressure Philly put on Eli. I'm hoping their offense lays an egg. And with our defense, I'm confident that it could happen.

I wish I was more confident in our offense. All I think about are our crazy amount of drops, Murray running sideways like the last time we faced Dallas, and Bradford throwing picks in the end zone. Hard for me to imagine these guys putting up 34 against a good Dallas defense, but I certainly hope you're right. Would love to see this offense finally go to the next level.

The one thing I find amusing and odd at the same time is that picking 3 TD's wins against a similar opponent every time we play each other.

I see a one possession margin of victory to the team who plays cleaner and likely wins the turn over battle....but what do I know.

Don't post much....but here goes.

If we don't CRUSH Matt F'ing Cassel after 2 weeks to prepare I'll be in mourning the rest of the year. It's been somewhat hard to read my email inbox lately, since I'm subscribed to this thread all the time....but I understand ALL the sentiments on the issues we have. HELL, look at how many pages have!!.

I'm 52 now, but I KNOW we'll eventually get to the promised land before I get Taps played over my cranky 'FLY EAGLES' A**!!!!

North Philly/Conshohocken/Mount Airy/North Wales......in the house!!!

Born at Frankford Hospital, lived on Frankford Ave two blocks from Cottman till my parents could afford a house in the burbs. Lived all over lower Bucks and now out near Reading.

Idk why I said it. Felt like we needed an origin check.

Don't take it too seriously. I think a lot of the blowout predictions right now by Eagles fans are more sarcastic and/or hopeful than anything else. I think with two strong defenses and two underacheiving offenses, I agree that it should be a close game and probably low scoring.

Unlike last game, I think the chance of an Eagles blowout is very, very remote. Although, for the record, the last Eagles-Cowboys game in big D was a blowout. Of course, it has been all downhill for the Eagles since then.

Exactly. At this point, Eagles fans are just hoping to get the victory in Dallas. No one really thinks we're going to kill them.

My prediction is based on a homer hope/idea that Philly has balls/swagger. I could just as easily see them not having either....and lose the game in a rout in which Greg Hardy beats Sam Bradford so bad that he acknowledges he's scared to Chip Kelly....ala Danielson to Myagi in Karate Kid III when that Mike Barnes beat the #### out of him in the tournament.

That's realistic. Predicting 50 is just preparing for Monday's posts. ;)

Agholor, Nelson WR Ankle FP FP FP questionable

Alonso, Kiko LB Knee FP FP FP probable

Bair, Brandon. DE Groin FP FP FP probable

Braman, Bryan. LB Shoulder LP FP FP probable

Mathews, Ryan. RB Groin LP DNP FP questionable

Peters, Jason. T. Back DNP DNP DNP questionable

Ryans, DeMeco LB Hamstring DNP DNP LP questionable

Wed/Thurs/Fri practice info and official Friday tags. Getting back Nelson, Alonso, Mathews still hampered but should go, and maybe Ryans. Looks like no Jason Peters.

Ready to see a rested, fast, ball-hawking defense take charge on SNF. DAL had only 3.3 ypc in the first game, a season low. Kendricks played phenomenal before getting hurt late 2nd quarter, having 8 tackles and frustrating the OLine gaps with stunts and twists. Glad he and Alonso are back, and with Hicks available as well, the front 7 looks outstanding.

DAL has run well, passed poorly, and that plays to the Eagle's defensive strengths. Outside of CAR, PHI has stifled the run all year (and to be fair v. CAR a complete misplay losing contain by Marcus Smith led to a 49-yard gain on an end around so the numbers are a little skewed there.) Besides the season low ypc in the first meeting, Dallas only scored 13 points offensively in the first meeting (20 w/blocked punt for TD). Not sure they have a better chance solving this D with Dez back, but Cassel at QB.

Eagles lead the league in takeaways even after the bye. TO's change games. I expect 2 on SNF. Fingers crossed.

Have to think DAL has a hard time hitting 20, but you never know and division games are often 'unusual' and contrarian in results.

Bigger question to me is, can we establish the run? Can the WRs/TEs/RBs catch the ball? Can Bradford show improvement? If so, win a division game on the road and look forward to a very favorable schedule with a 5-3 home/road split, the fewest travel miles ahead in the entire NFL, and the lowest remaining opponent strength of schedule in the entire NFC.

Not that it's a surprise, but Jason Peters has been ruled OUT for Sunday. Lane takes over left tackle and unfortunately for him, Greg Hardy.

After the way they destroyed our O-line last time, I'm officially worried.

I'd be more concerned if/when they move Hardy around and let him feast on whoever takes over at RT.

Gonna be interesting to see how much flak Jerrah and the league take for the Deadspin Greg Hardy pics between now and game time.

I was just talking about that in another thread. Visual proof changes everything. Now there's going to be public outcry. Jones and Garrett can no longer mask things by saying what a great guy he is.

Definitely going to be all over leading up to a nationally televised SNF game. Visually, seeing those picks evokes a visceral reaction (or at least it should). Public outcry is nearly certain. Big black eye for the league.

From a football POV, one more thing to distract/divide the opponent. From a 'life' POV, disgusting imagery. Disgusting actions.

I know we're Eagle fans but how can the NFL seriously let this guy back in the league after the whole Ray Rice thing? Those embarassing PSAs with crying Hillary swank were for what? Lip Service? They are going to be skewered on National TV Sunday Night.

Do they have a choice after the way things went down with Rice?

and they should. What is making it despicable is the need for Jerry Jones to come out in the media to defend him. Just disgusting human beings and i would love the Eagles to raise the ghost of "the other #20" Andre Waters and have him play H-back or fullback on whatever side Hardy lines up on.

ETA: a guy in the comments section of the article about Jerry coming out to support him again nails the whole insanity of it:

The scrutiny is greater over whether or not a player can wear pink for the entire season versus domestic violence. Can’t wear pink after Halloween or risk that fine! Beat up your girlfriend? Apologize and don’t sweat it too much. #### happens.

still can't believe how many uniform violation stories we read about with this happening. Absolute best was a week or 2 ago when the NFL fined the one Pittsburgh d-back (feel bad forgetting who, maybe William Gay?) because he wore different color shoes to support anti domestic violence because his mom was killed that way. i think they fined him 10K

Think it was Deangelo Williams that wanted to continue wearing pink after October to honor his mom and four aunts that all died of cancer. League said no.
